I try to give a place the benefit of the doubt and multiple visits before leaving a not-so-stellar review but The Thirsty turtle as let me down yet again. I've eaten there in person a few times before lockdown and have ordered delivery twice now. The drinks are pretty good but I've been let down by the food every time. Meh is the best way to describe it. Philly cheesesteak was dry. Fish and Fries - while the fries were decent, the fish had no seasoning at all. Pork Belly tacos were just ok. I attempted to call the restaurant after my most recent let down and no one answered the phone. Maybe they are better at true bar food like wings, nachos, and burgers but I honestly can't give them another shot right now. It's sad cause I'd really like to have a quality neighborhood bar. read more

Will not return. Music at 6pm was more of a night club version with how loud it was and the vulgar language. Glad my daughter had her headphones on! Then ordered a kids meal with a side of Mac n Cheese for $8.95. Bill came as $10.75 and $5.75-she said well kids meal doesn't come with mac-n-cheese. Then waitress should of told us that when we ordered. Manager would not reverse the charges. Then they don't print a receipt for you to review--done on a hand-held...so did not realize they add an 18% Gratuity automatically so she was double tipped. Maybe fine if we received good service and good food. As we left we did see a little sign taped to top of front door mentioning they did that. But it just all felt very shady. Came here to watch the Saints and Seahawks play. There wasn't a big crowd, but unofficially the game I was interested in watching they had on mute. I ordered the turtle sliders with a lemonade. For an appetizer it did the trick. This is a family atmosphere so there were children there as well dining. I was not aware that they had an outdoor patio area with tvs so I will be back to see how that differs from watching the game inside. Overall my experience was just okay. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! My daughter was treated very rudely by the staff at this establishment. She, and her friends ordered food, and it arrived 45 minutes to an hour late. I was barely warm, and some of the meals were incomplete. Upon complaining about the service, and only asking for fair treatment, the manager was called to the table. The male manager spoke roughly to my daughter and began banging his hands on the table. After this, they barricaded her and would not let her leave, one waitress even grabbed her. The Thirsty Turtle doesn't deserve any stars really. The service is terrible here. I used to be a waitress so I am very understanding when the house has low staff. The main key for me to keep my business there during a situation like that is COMMUNICATION. Please come out and tell me that you are short staffed. You may not have my food but just check on me and my party. Yes not everyone will be as calm during that time but it still at least shows you are telling your customers about a situation out of YOUR control. My time there, I did NOT receive that communication. Instead, I had a manager (JOSE) speaking to me like I'm not a paying customer. If no one visits my table to even get my drink order, of course, I am going to be annoyed. I have patience but I can't excuse people just flat out not doing their jobs. Mr. Jose felt the need to cut us off while talking and to raise his voice as if I am a child. I am old enough to drink and to pay for it to speak to me like I'm an adult. Not only was I the only person encountering a problem, but I also witness him getting snappy with another party and even witnessed an incident with staff being physical WITH CUSTOMERS. The woman was petite and they were trying to physically force her to pay for the food she never received. I am an actual native Nashvillian. Antioch and Nashville are on the rise. Decided to check out this sports bar on just word of mouth,...I must say I'm impressed. Now to better understand me know that I don't require much for a spot I can relax and just catch some drinks and the game. Thirsty Turtle has a TV set almost everywhere! So i was able to catch a game on no matter what direction i turned. The chicks in the referee uniforms are not hard on the eyes at all NOT THAT I WAS LOOKING..cause i had my gorgeous fiance with me!..lol just saying its nice to have decent people serving your food rather then the creature from the black lagoon with an attitude...just my personal opinion. Now, the food was decent, i ordered the naked wings mild, and lets just say they were ok at best,...so the Other Place sports bar still has no worries on that end! 1 complaint,..maybe I missed the sign or something but it was after 10pm on a Friday night and there were kids in there..? not teenage kids but no older then 10-12yr olds still there?....I 'm putting this on the bar who in my opinion should not have let them in a sports bar but more so on the parents because you know how a sports bar is,.profanity, drinking, and smoking...soooooo hey don't complain when your child is saying things he/she shouldn't say when you have them in an adult atmosphere!! Thirsty Turtle offers Karaoke on one side and TVs, and small game room on the other with a bar equipped to handle any beverage you choose. After reading through these reviews I thought I would add my review just to give you an average rating for our several visits here. When this place first opened it was a four or five star establishment. The two star rating I just gave is for when this place started going downhill up until now. This used to be the place we'd go with our friends. We'd get pizza, beer, fried pickles, and the famous Fly River Burger. The place was awesome and we were always excited about going here. Then things started to change and the Thirsty Turtle became inconsistent with just about everything. The stories describing the inattentive servers are pretty accurate, but occasionally you'd get a good server. The menu changed from the perspective that what was described on the menu was not exactly what showed up on the plate. The friends we used to come here with won't come here any more, and we rarely dine here ourselves with so many better options available. This is a hit or miss proposition, and the two stars are pretty accurate for what the Thirsty Turtle has become. I really find myself wishing for the good old days when the ownership actually took pride in this place. read more

While in Tennessee for a work trip, some co-workers and I decided to go out for Happy Hour after a long day. My old manager had been here once before so suggested we give it a try since he had discovered one of his favorite beers there. I do not know the name of it, but it was some orange flavored beer, which to our disappointment we learned they no longer have. They have great prices for happy hour though...at least compared to San Diego. I was able to get a miller lite on draft for $3 or $4. Another coworker ordered a strawberry margarita which she said was delicious. The place is nothing fancy, just your typical hole in the wall bar. They have two different bar counters and some video arcade type games. The staff was also very friendly and the bathrooms were clean enough. One of my friends was out for drinks and apps and it took them over 45 minutes to get the apps out. When asked what the hold up was the store manager JOSE was extremely abrasive and hostile. He went so far as to bang on the table and yell. When my friend didn't want the apps anymore since they took so long and she had to leave they said she had to pay for them anyway and JOSE has waitresses try and physically keep her in the restaurant. Never ever, EVER. Returning back to this establishment. Each year our club hosts an event here, and previous years were fine under the OLD management. This year however, our guest were greeted with rude staff (I'll go into detail about that in a moment), inflated and fluctuating prices (depending on your gender, the lady servers were very helpful to the men, while groups of women were often overlooked. To add, they charge you for any juice that you may get with a drink so $10 vodka + $2 cranberry juice. All while a group was charged $100 for a round of shots, then $200 for that same round 15 minutes later) and the restrooms were filthy. Since my first time coming here prices have risen exponentially, and while I understand cost rise, this is gauging. Now for the rude staff... I'd gone to the bar to order a drink for one of our guest and both bartenders were socializing amongst themselves for sever minutes. Now it was busy! Shoulder to shoulder busy. So after a few minutes of watching I asked one of the ladies if they were still taking orders. She proceeds to look me right in the face, roll her eyes and continue talking to the other bartender. I then proceeded to get a manager but all the staff said their was none on site, and even if it was they weren't going to do anything. Ok, so I ask her, why are you being so nasty I just asked you a question... she said "well Im busy right now so you can get out my face!" Now, our club brought over 200 folks out to this venue and this is the type of treatment we got. We had to personally apologize to our guest for THEIR staff and it was utterly embarrassing. After my first review that I will post below this. I decided to try again. Hoping they had some time to fix their evident issues. So I went back and it was mildly busy. Was ignored by the staff for maybe 20 mins. Then a seat opened at the bar and THEN I got service. I know better than to buy a drink there because they skimp HARD on the alcohol. I then order my usual the chicken wings. Took an HOUR for 10 chicken wings to come out. Then they had the audacity to be cold... That clearly treat black patrons different from other races. From wait staff to bartender to manager. I swear on ALL THINGS HOLY. I will NEVER RETURN. This place deserves to go out of business. And I severly hope it does. Practically ignored us the ENTIRE time we were there. She CLEARLY did not know the menu because any time we asked her a question she had to ask someone else. We wait a long time. My drink is never refilled. The food comes out and 30 wings are sat on my table. I immediately say this is too many wings and attempt to send them back. The manager shouts from the bar across the restaurant that that is what I ordered. And I say no it isn't. So she comes over to my table to argue with me about these 10 extra wings. And we just say it's a misunderstanding. We don't want them. Can you please take them back? She argued with me for a good five minutes. And I start to get frustrated and told her that I want to speak to a manager. She rudely says I am the manager. And I tell her well then you should have no problem fixing this then. She walks away. Clearly disgusted with me. So we decide to set the extra 10 to the side and not touch them. A few minutes later a gentleman walks up to me and says he is the owner. I was like awesome. And he asks me what's going on. I tell him and he reveals that the manager is his wife. I'm like ok. That explains somethings. The owner then starts to make excuses as to why it cannot be taken back. Saying that weve eaten the extra ten wings when they were sitting RIGHT THERE. And we of course say no we haven't and hand him the tray. He then goes on to LECTURE ME about wasting food. Saying that his family came from nothing and he built the place from the ground up and on and on. And that they never throw things away. I haven't been lectured about CLEANING MY PLATE since I was 6 years old. I'm livid at this point. Never got a refill on my water. The wife comes over and slams my ticket on the table, says she took off the extra, and storms off. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Now, if I had to make a WHOLE yelp page to do a review it was either a HORRIBLE or EXCELLENT experience. It was most definitely HORRIBLE! I rate them a -10. I read his lips saying "This is reserved I told them no they have to move." Me being me, calm I let it slide because if I pop off it'll ruin my friends birthday. More minutes go by we head to a section and here come these KIDS coming from outside because they were "cold" and they proceeded to sit at our table. At this point I'm LIVID!!! The waitress are pissed at e/o. Whatever. More minutes pass by we finally SIT! It took about a hour or two its 12:30am ... As soon as she took our drink orders the waitress asks for everybody's I.D. We're all like what? I then asked, so you're asking for our i.ds because of the party that didn't pay, y'all our waitress said YES! I couldn't believe it. So, they didn't ask for ANY OTHER TABLE BUT OURS. It's like since we were such a "huge crowd" we were targeted. She then goes to get "the manager". And we end up getting irritated and a friend gives them a card. We were just HUNGRY! Fast forward, we wanted 1/2 crab legs they said they don't serve 'em but it was CLEARLY on the menu. Our waitress acted like she didn't know what was going on and she needed the "manager" for everything. Mind you most of my friends there were waitresses so they KNEW how the "waitress life" is. So he comes and say they don't serve the 1/2 crab legs even though they were ON THE MENU and my friend had previously ordered half of a pound the week before. I send him away and end up ordering wings. They got most of our food orders WRONG! The crab legs were COLD.. the drinks were NOT strong whatsoever, so we weren't even tipsy and the waitress put one of my friends wings at the TAIL END of the table while the table was ALREADY PACKED! (Not even touched) My friend food ends up on the ground!!! And you know what he "the manager" said, i'm sorry we have a can't take back rule.. your food has been on the table more than 6 mins we can't take it back, you will be charged.. WHAT?! We are ALL PISSED OFF! He's arguing with her for the longest about the mistake HIS waitress made about how its not her fault the food fell. At this point I couldn't take it anymore, I simply asked for my check and was ready to go! This was around 1:20am. Ziggy and I spent a few bucks (40$ pretty high rent for a less the clean bar) in this dive yesterday. they had few good beers so I thought I would go back today so we did. The manager doesn't know anything about laws and was too cowardly to say anything so he made the bartender deliver his ignorant comment and in front of other customers. So the bartender her loses income and I'll never go back. My reviews are always pretty positive. I read the other reviews after posting mine. Seems to me that they have a management problem. That's a big problem if you're the owner. Get a grip or get a padlock or before you know it you'll be locking the doors and never putting the key back in. Came in with a group, and it took us some time for us all to get there. Few ate already before we got there, but once everyone got there it took fooooooooreeeeever for our food to come out. It took us an 1hr 1/2 to 2hrs to get our food. I literally sat there counting as we all were talking to each other. Food was alright, had better. Would happily give this place 1 star based on food alone. but as a bar it does have a lot to offer. Many TVs, shows soccer, is smoke free (I love this), and has a cool electronic dart game. Do not come here expecting good bar food, don't even come here expecting average bar food. The fish tacos were so salty, unimpressive and basic. I don't think the food here can get any blander. They are definitely targeting the most neutral and taste free palette imaginable. Like they are cooking for children. It's an insult to children actually. The spinach artichoke dip is horrendous. What has happened to places? Have they given up on this dish and just all went frozen and pre-made? This bar is all about what you're looking for. If you're looking for a bucket of beer, a place to watch the game and BS with your buddies - you just found it. My server was really nice, genuinely engaging and sweet. Though I didn't eat much food - I did have the homemade chips and they were deep fried dynamite. And they have a Skill Crane! And tragic, drunken karaoke! God is great! That said, I did see they have oysters and crab legs? If I were to judge this book by its cover; this is not the kind of place I would eat either of those things. OK... reading reviews generally suck. There is a general "meanness" that has taken over a society that can remain unaccountable while writing anything they can think of. Hiding behind the screen of the internet allows people to write or vent their negativity in large chunks with never a moments hesitation. I came to this page because I had a VERY positive experience at the Thirsty Turtle and I want to let people know about it. What I found here were these terrible reviews. Had I read them first I probably would have skipped ever going there. Had that happened I would have missed a great new restaurant that is struggling to get off the ground. Consider who might have written the bad reviews... competition, a disgruntled couple (each slinging venom separately), or perhaps one person with a gripe and a vendetta? Whatever. I didn't know about the reviews and I tried it... it was good. The wait staff - a Ms. Venessa was attentive, likable and efficient. The food was well prepared and served hot. I enjoyed the steak fajita tacos with freshly brewed coffee. Another server stopped by, just to see if I needed anything. They were busy cleaning and doing side work all the time I was there. Again, it wasn't fine dining, but if you were to believe the reviews everything was wrong for those customers. How often does it happen that EVERYTHING is bad? I think "You may be slightly exaggerating..." Give it a shot... it's new, going through a start-up and not perfect.
