What a fun place to stumble upon! While trying to kill time before a lunch reservation, we walked in for a quick bite and an afternoon beer. The outdoor environment is SUCH a blast in the summer. It is so bright and welcoming. I loved playing the ring hook game while waiting for my food. The draft beer and food menu were solid. If we hadn't had a reservation right after, I would have loved to try one of their hot dogs. We ended up ordering an IPA, a Maine seltzer, and an order of buffalo chicken dip. The drinks were tasty and well priced, and the staff was helpful when we were deciding between beers. As a self-proclaimed buffalo chicken dip connoisseur, I can say this was one of the most unique versions I have ever had. It had a Mexican-inspired flair and was topped with pickled onions, which I loved. Definitely coming back here next time I am in the area.

Great atmosphere and great prices. Constantly has great live music with a wide selection of drinks and dogs. Also have some of the best prices in Portland. You'll find nothing but good times here. Definitely recommend

I don't know why I haven't reviewed The Thirsty Pig sooner. We discovered it maybe about ten years ago, I wasn't such an adventurous eater. My brother got a chili dog and I had a plain hot dog and I regretted my choice when his came out. We've been many many times since then and OMG, it is so delicious! We visit our parents up here and we hit up The Thirsty Pig pretty often. The hot dogs themselves are super tasty and the toppings are so good. My favorite is the Market Street, everything about it is divine. The buffalo chicken dip is also really good and so is the Porkland Philly. We love it so much, I bought myself, my husband and my brother a shirt! I'm bummed they got rid of their pasta salad, it was the perfect side dish. I wish we had a place like this at home. When you walk by make sure to go in, you won't be disappointed.

I haven't been here in ages - but we were looking for a spot after an event in downtown Portland and my friend had suggested that we go there. It was sooo good! They were busy, lots of people wanting food after the event - but service was friendly, the deck was fabulous and the drinks were yummy. I had a Philly sandwich that was so tender, with peppers and chips. Everything was perfect on it. Wayne had one as well, and he had his with a house specialty margarita. I had a light lager. Our friends enjoyed a Chicago dog and an Icelandic dog w/red snapper - who knew? The owners were amazing and according to my friend, they do it all - from often making their own sausages to running the place. We heard some live music - started after we arrived, but sounded pretty good!

This was the best hot dog I've ever had in my life!!! Everything on the menu sounded so delicious and there was tons of variety! The atmosphere was amazing, it was clean, and the staff was very friendly! I would recommend if you're in Portland. A MUST! Very reasonable pricing

Stopped in for a lunch as we needed something to eat before going on a lobster boat excursion. This is by our hotel and I wanted a Chicago style hot dog. The toppings were the Chicago style but the hot dog was not. I believe a beef frank is used but here was a pork and beef which is tasteless and pink. I was slightly disappointed. My wife got the queso and chips. They were good. Service was good.

The beer was delicious. We tried peaches and cream and all the way up (a sour beer) both amazing. For food, we tried the all-American dog and the hot Italian, the all American tasted like your average good American hotdog and the hot Italian had more on the sour side due to the relish with a mild spice to it. I really liked the atmosphere in here, great music, not too loud that you can have conversations and chill. The only thing that I was disappointed about is that their hours said that they closed at 9:00pm so we rushed back the same night for more and made it by 8:30pm but they were already closed.

Went into Thirsty Pig on a whim while strolling downtown with a friend. The interior decor is really cool -- VCR tapes near the bar, figurines displayed, obscure board games/mazes on the counter. You can even request a movie to be played. I got a Tubular and the Viking hot dog, while my friend got the Chili Bomb on a red snapper. Mine came with caramelized onions, bacon, cheddar, Thai aioli, and BBQ sauce. Honestly could not really taste the aioli as it was overpowered by the BBQ. It was pretty good though, and knowing this is a joint known for dogs and brews, I can't really complain about the high price. Next time, I'd love to sit outside on the patio!

As usual, The Pig never disappoints! My buddy had already ordered before I got there, so guessing it was a flight of different sausages with different toppings. I thought all were good and they paired nicely with the selection of beers they carry. It's a fun place with great outdoor seating and a bike rack just outside the patio. Sweet!

As happens quite often, I have a tentative plan to go one place, and it's a bit crowded, and then another place, but it's not open, and then end up somewhere completely unplanned. This evening's plan D was The Thirsty Pig. It was great! I enjoyed two hot dogs (chicago and elote) and a platter of pickles (the "pickletizer"). Chicago - excellent. I was a fan of Chicago Dogs and Halsted's Chicago Eats when they were open and this was great too. I think it could have had a little more spice to it, but it was really enjoyable. Elote - the flavor of the elote was on point, but I don't think it worked in the form of a hot dog. It was more just. seasoned corn on a plain hot dog. Pickles - awesome. sour pickles, dill pickles, mustard pickles, a spicy relish, banana hots, and pickled onions. Everything on the plate was delicious. I held back and got a togo box for the rest. I'm going to be enjoying these babies all week. Or at least the rest of the evening!! A guy at the next table over was clearing what they hadn't eaten and they hadn't even touched half the plate. For shame!! I ate out on the patio, which was very pleasant. I liked the procedure of ordering at the counter and having the food brought out to you. And I can't end this review without mentioning the prices are VERY reasonable.

    Orange Creamsicle Cider

As a non meat-eater and someone who doesn't enjoy beer, I had steered clear of The Thirsty Pig for years. Can I just say: what a mistake that was! I had no idea they had a veggie dog (which is delicious and indistinguishable from the real thing). I got the Kind of a Big Dill dog, topped with pickled onions, banana peppers, dill pickles, and dill ranch, all stuffed inside a standard hotdog bun. Although it was messy, I can't say it didn't hit the spot. The pretzel appetizer (with mustard and cheese sauce) was also stellar. My friend ordered the chorizo queso, which she highly recommends. As for drinks, I opted for the Orange Creamsicle Cider. There have been countless times where I've been let down by a cider promising a sweet flavor only to drink something that tastes like dirt. This looked, smelled, and tasted EXACTLY like an orange creamsicle. Can't recommend it enough! The service is efficient and friendly. The outdoor back patio is beyond pleasant; plenty of seating and a variety of it for different party sizes. Look out upon the streets of Old Port or the vine-covered walls of the backside of the building. Although the place is more casual, feel free to dress up or down, there seems to be no judgement either way. My one complaint is that the live music was far too loud for anyone (including the cashier) to hear each other! Overall, a great spot for apps, hot dogs, and drinks (beer or cider especially). The prime location on Exchange makes this spot a must-try!

Entrance is on Forest and is clearly marked. You walk in and there is sooo much to see! Cue the candy store memories as a child. I quickly lifted my jaw and stepped to the side and started taking pictures. This store is nicely set up with wood, glass, and some brass accents for a nice look. They truly have a VAST selection of all spirits offered. Some items, that are rare, or higher priced are locked in glass cases. All the information you need is right there in the open. There were two clerks working the front. When no one was waiting to check out, they walked the floor looking in on all to see if we had any questions. Saw one man go to counter and ask questions, the clerk was friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings he was looking for. I found my Jameson with a few variations to choose from. Cask-mates stout is a favorite but not always available. Black label was on the shelf with two sizes to choose from. Now for a beverage for a holiday gathering. Looking for something on the berry side but not loaded with sugar. They had a huge of beers, seltzers, ales, and ciders to choose from. Wasn't feeling the seltzers which I do enjoy, today I was feeling a cider. I chose the BRLO Berlin Cider "Dark and Wild" mixed berries. Then an Ale caught my eye in a tall off white bottle with a swivel cork top. Delirium Red; Belgian ale with cherry and elderberry!! Yes please! They have other flavors too. Checking out was easy. A few registers with last minute adds for review. Best one; they had an Advent calendar of Beers and Ales genius! If you are looking for a special gift, a tried and true, or up for an adventure; head to Bow Street beverage on Forest Ave. in Portland, minutes from 295 too!

I asked about a specific thing, I was told "we've been out of that for months", only I bought two bottles of it just last week, and my partner would end up going back the next night and getting a few more bottles. Is that a strange observation? Sometimes it gets REALLY BUSY here. It has seemed to me they drop what they're doing stocking/cleaning/inventorying and get over to the cash registers ASAP to keep the queue moving. I've come here just for a single can of diet Gosling's ginger beer, I've come here to restock my home bar entirely, I've come here to be one of those fancy people who gets something from the locked glass cabinet. But if you would normally order drinks and food out, this is definitely a more economical and convenient alternative. I've ordered from Carhop over a dozen times with no issues. Last night I had my first issue. When my order showed on the app as delivered, but wasn't, I contacted Carhop on their handy live chat feature and was asked to check all entrances. My front door is brightly lit and obvious (it even has a floodlight). There is also an unlit, snow and ice covered side staircase that no delivery service has ever braved. It's likely every homeowners insurance company's worst nightmare. But there was the order, on a zero degree night, frozen solid to the ice. When I jammed the side door open and grabbed the bag, it exploded, leaving a war zone of ramen. I was able to salvage half the order, while the rest has made me the honorary king of the local raccoon population. A quick note to Carhop explaining the situation (with a picture) and I was instantly fully refunded. I feel like they went above and beyond in service and would highly recommend!
