For most of my life, getting a custom-made suit has been on my 'bucket list' of things to do that always ended up on the back burner. I've spent my entire career in retail, so I know the difference. For the special occasion of my son's wedding, I splurged to celebrate both the wedding and a significant weight loss with my first made to order suit. It was well worth it!  The Tailored Foundation, and my new personal haberdasher, Aarish, blew me away with the process, the price AND most importantly the final product and fit. First of all, Aarish was great to work with-he was more concerned about the details than I was. He showed me a ton of options, all price points, and the final choice was really not any more expensive than a good suit off the rack. The suit feels like a million bucks and I'm not the easiest fit. I don't think I've ever had any suit fit so well, feel comfortable in any position and look so cool. The wedding is a destination wedding in a warm climate so Aarish took that into account making sure every possible detail was covered. My name was sewn into the lining, there is an extra ticket pocket inside, truly functional sleeve buttons, lined pants, and more. We have become so accustomed to shopping online that we forget the attention to detail that comes from a face-to-face interaction; the tape measure checking every measurement, the hand of the fabrics, the various shades of black, etc. I cannot recommend The Tailored Foundation enough, and I am certain I will be back for more. Aarish did an amazing job with my tux for my wedding. It my first time ever getting a custom suit made. Since the beginning we met-up personally to go over different styles/patterns he took my measurements, asked me what I was looking for and then give me his input on styles that are currently "in" and which styles would work for me based on the event and my body style. I was able to customize everything from from inner-lining of my suit, to type of cuffs on the shirt. He helped me pick out my shoes, cuff links and studds, as well as which type of bowtie I would need. Aarish was easily accessible by phone/text/email. When my suit arrived 2wks before the date it was a perfect fit! I didn't need to get anything altered at all. I was looking into getting custom suits since off-the-rack suits don't fit me very well, and the Tailored Foundation along with Aarish were recommended to be by a friend of mine who had gotten a custom tailored suit from him. I happened to be out in Chicago and asked Aarish if he could come to my hotel. He was able to quickly make it to my hotel and brought a few fabric books with him. I decided to try out a beautiful blue glen plaid, and Aarish proceeded to take my measurements. The suit came in two weeks (much quicker than expected!) and I was honestly astonished with the measurements. The fit of the actual suit and trousers was exactly as I had wanted. The waistline of the pants was a tad loose due to some weight loss, but the pants had been fitted and tapered to the exact degree that I had requested. He also was able to make the suit fully canvassed as I had asked, and had extensive knowledge on suiting materials, fit, and tailoring in general. He was great to talk to, and was happy to discuss suits and style with me. I ended up ordering another suit from him, and it matched the exact specifications for my first suit. Let me start off by saying I did not know Aarish before doing business with him. I did not hear about it through a friend, and I have no connection with him or the company. Thus I had no bias one way or another aside from the great expectations based on past reviews. I personally did not have a great experience. When I think about bespoke suits, I think of it as two parts. First, is the suit. How it fits, looks, feels, embraces you. The second, is the customer service. How they interact with you, their honesty, suggestions, punctuality, and ability to make you feel comfortable and cared for. That being said, let me start from the beginning. Before I became a customer of Aarish, he was great, always answering my emails the same day and answering any questions I had. However, once he got me locked in, that's when I started to see the cracks and wrinkles in the customer service. He called me the day of my original appointment, 2 hours before the scheduled meeting, only to tell me that he did not realize that I was booked as he was in the suburbs and he would be unable to come due to the traffic. Fine, I get it. So then he rescheduled me for the next week. After showing up 30-40 minutes late, I didn't get so much as an apology. The consultation session went well. He didn't pressure me at all, allowed me to take my time and ask him questions, and giving me guidance on what he thought would be good for me. I spent about 1.5 hours with him which was generous and I appreciate that. The suits prices are $350 - $450 - $550 (plus tax), depending on the material you want, with 550 being 100% wool. Note: If he tells you "19 days" understand he means business days, though that's confusing on its own since he works on weekends. Others have reported that they got theirs in 2 weeks. That was not the case for me, and it was foolish of me to assume so. One thing that I very displeased with, was how much he would string me along and make excuses over and over again with time, and alterations. I changed my schedule to meet him at his own residence to try on my suit in order to have it ready for a wedding. When I tried on my suit the first time, I wasn't pleased with it. What upsets me is that it took time for me to convince him that it didn't look great. It was not until I began to talk about my left shoulder (in addition to my right shoulder), that he agreed that the right needed work, but the left was perfect. He told me that he would "shave" off the right shoulder, but now that I have it in my possession, it seems like most of it was simply removed. Though he assured me prior that he would get the suit back to me within 24 hours (not business hours, but real hours), I got it near 48 hours later. I had asked him to contact me the night I tried on the suit to make sure he can get the suit back, or else I would have to prepare a different suit. He decided to contact me close to 30 hour mark telling me he was working on it, and at the 39 hour mark, asked if he could deliver the suit 2 hours before the wedding. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't think anyone wants to depend on someone that close to deadline. I was able to get the suit 3 hours before the wedding, and when I tried it on, something was still off. The sleeves, though the same length, ended at different points of my wrist. I believe the issue was that too much of the padding on the right shoulder was removed, despite being told it would be shaved and the next option, would be to remove the padding. This forced me to drive up near his residence the day after the wedding. During this time, I asked him for his opinion about the need to make the sleeves uneven in order to have the shirts peek out evenly. He mentioned that it was the shirt that caused it to do so, however, when measured from the end of the suit to the end of my thumbs, they were off by 1/2". Either my arms are actually different by half an inch, or it is the suit/padding that is off. Eventually got it back, and though it's still not perfect, it does look good if you only glance at it for a brief moment. If I were to stand there for minutes at a time, you would begin to notice the imperfections. At the end of the day, if you want a suit and don't notice fine details, this is perfect for you. If you are lax on timing, this is also great. However, if you are like me who gets bothered that the shoulders/pads are slightly off, that the buttons are not the same distance from the end of the sleeve, then it's best you take good care each time to try on the suit. What I wish Aarish had done was tell me how each alteration would affect the rest of the suit. I appreciated that he told me he could make changes, but what he didn't tell me was exactly how they would be done and how it would effect the rest of suit and it's details, which only caused more irregularities to stick out and I am resigned to them. Bottom line, the suit is good for the price, but the customer service needs some work. read more

Don't waste your money or your time. Spend another $100 and go to a real tailor. There's a serious issue with what this company does to unsuspecting professionals looking to save some money and still look like you know what you're doing. I think his grandfather has died on me or friends about four times until now. Always some half baked excuse for missing appointments or being EXTREMELY late. Just not worth the agony. Personally, I will never use them again as I have serious doubts about their quality after a suit I wore once literally disintegrated after being taken to the dry cleaners. All flash no splash. I had a really great experience with the tailored foundation. I went out on a limb and decided to have my wedding reception suit tailored by aarish. He came to my home and took accurate measurements and then remeasured to be safe. I ordered a 3 piece suit a shirt and custom shoes, the variety of materials are excellent not to mention the guidance Aarish gives when helping you decide what to get. When I got my suit I felt the style was a little modern for my taste (that was my decision to go with it) but aarish said no problem and recreated my jacket within 7 days with minimal charge.
