Really wasn't going to review this place but I was asked to so here we go! In town from Colorado and we wanted an easy dinner after working came here for some tacos. I ordered 2 Al pastor and 2 berria my friend ordered 2 carne asada and a bowl. The tacos were kinda dry, lacked salt and flavor. I tried 2 of their salsas and meh. Friend thought the same about his tacos. His bowl they forgot their special sauce it improved it but eh too late. The horchata was good but that was my first time trying it so what do I know haha. Happened upon The Taco Spot driving around running errands. We weren't super hungry just wanted a lite meal. The place is small with friendly employees happy to answer any questions you might have. Cute little taco spot in a strip mall in the Home Depot shopping center! We stopped in for dinner and got tacos and birria ramen, and we tried the hot Cheeto birria balls! The tacos were small, but mighty, packing a punch full of flavor - lots of meat inside! I love the texture of the hot Cheeto balls, a really nice crunch on the outside, and hot and spicy and meaty on the inside! Loved my birria ramen too, it was filling and full of meat! This was the worst food spot I've went too. I ordered birria nachos and they had the smallest amount of meat. Basically ate a few chips with meat and that was it. Still have a whole plate of chips. I also ordered my family food. The birria balls was all rice. Like 1 strip of birria . I wish I can take back my $7 tip. The birria tacos had little to no meat. And the chicken taco you can just look at it and be disgusted. My daughter did not touch it. Asked for a refund and was met with attitude and no help. I've tried this place 3 times with the hope of it being better each time. I've been disappointed every time and it almost seems like it got worse and worse. I've had the ramen (overpriced), the carne asada burrito (too much rice that's mushy and bland), and the keto carne asada taco (greasy, flavorless, horrible texture). My husbands order has also never been correct, all he wants is a PLAIN burrito with rice and meat...always given beans and pico de gallo after clarifying he does not want that. This is a pretty aesthetically pleasing place, from the pictures online, to inside decor, and the visually appealing menu. I struggled to decide what to order because it allllll looked so good. I ended up ordering 2 street tacos and the taco/fry combo that came with 2 tacos and a side of fries for $11.29. They have 5 options in meat and I chose the birria based on their picture on Yelp that looked delicious.. looking further at that picture while waiting for my food, I'm not sure it's their picture, which I felt was misleading. But I'm hoping I'm wrong and it is theirs. Anyway i ordered my food to go but ate a bit before I left. It came with a red and green salsa, both of which were okay. My street tacos fine, no complaint, but no praise either. The birria were pretty yummy and cheesy. I was expecting to be able to dip them but maybe I dont really understand what birria is lol? I'm going to have to say no. I'm shocked by the 4-stars but I'm positive it's because Tucson doesn't have many great taco spots. The meat disintegrated in your mouth, very dry. Salsa and lime was perfect to give the taco a good taste. The meat didn't have a bad flavor, just dry. Service was great from the older Mexican lady, the young lady at the counter was there to do her job. It's a small area, not much seating. What really threw me off was, "your soup will be out of the microwave in a minute" if the birria ramen is made with consome, the consome should be hot enough to cook the noodles?! I think this place has the best Barrera tacos in town. They are so wonderful and are packed on taco Tuesdays because they're only two dollars for street tacos. I love going there. I love their burritos, especially the surf and turf. I'm not sure what's happened to the Mexican restaurants, but they have gone so high in price that they are pricing themselves out of business. Their tacos are becoming smaller and their prices are becoming bigger. I'm very disappointed regarding this and I have taken my business away from Mexican food because of this. But this is one place that I visit every Tuesday because my friend has to have it. She's addicted to their birria tacos. Just to show you how pricey they are. She got 12 street tacos Barrera and they were $26. No beans no rice just tacos and the really small ones street tacos. I'm bringing this up because other people have mentioned how horribly expensive restaurants are becoming. I don't know how a family would go there to eat and afford it. But if you are in the mood for a very good tacos and don't mind paying the price this is the place to go. Last Friday I ordered online they ran out of eggs and refunded my money and never got my money back it's been three days now nothing back.

The Birria fries here taste really good. However how in the world do you think it's ok to charge $19.99 for a $2 ramen with $1.50 worth of meat in it and charge $19.99. Seems pretty unreasonable considering I get so much Birria in my ramen and it's the same ramen that's served here at La Vaquita for only $8.00 not $19.99 or mind you the Birria tacos here at taco spot is $4.99 but at carnitas ya loca you can get a half pound of fresh Birria and in house made fresh tortillas for only $9.99 so for the price at taco spot your getting 4 tacos for $20.00 vs $9.99 with a half pound making the same amount of tacos. I decided to hop in after a meeting, during my lunch. I ordered the street tacos, Al Pastor and Carne Asada. The tacos were delicious. Accompanied by the green salsa, chefs kiss. I may have come during their down time, there was no line. I was able to order and within five minutes the food came out. Staff was nice! Definitely would recommend this place for the street tacos.
