Wow! Didn't realize we were staying in town on Prom and wedding weekend. Downtown crazy busy. Nick…read moreat the Compton recommended Blu. SO glad he did! Tenny was our waiter. Super job! Great recommendations and when the special we ordered was sold out we were able to change the fish for the same prep. Started with a blueberry margarita, which was tart but excellent. I like grapefruit (I peel it like an Orange and eat the wedges without sugar) so right up my alley. Even my wife (who doesn't like grapefruit) loved this drink. Had the Ceviche app. Really good. I am kind of a ceviche expert (have been eating it and a similar food called kelaguin all over the world) and this may be the best we have had in the States. We shared the lobster ravioli and a pecan crusted red snapper (the monkfish was sold out) and both were great. Ravioli was exceptional. Three pieces, shrimp and perfect sauce. Lots of lobster in the filling. The snapper which again was the substitute for the monkfish was light with a more subtle flavor but was served with really good mashed potatoes and broccoli. Unfortunately the ravioli came out first (had to change the fish so slight delay) so the strength of the ravioli flavor would have been better as the second shared entree due to the subtleness of the pecan crusted snapper. But really that is not a complaint. Tight rooms, packed with tables and people. Even so not too loud to have a conversation and everyone was super nice. We will eat here again next time we visit.

We decided to sit at the bar since we planned on just getting a couple drinks and a dozen oysters, but we enjoyed it so much we ended up getting another half dozen oysters, a lobster roll and some crab hush puppies. All of the food was amazing. The only thing I wish was different is that the bread was not as crusty, but that is a personal preference because I like the butter to saturate the lobster and the bread. The bread is made in house- which makes mildly forgive the harder crust. ;-) The bartender we had was Chris. He was super attentive to all the other patrons and even tried to adjust the TV to the program some of them were hoping to watch. Our drinks were made with care and were efficiently delivered. We will definitely go back when in town. Fun fact: my boyfriend's sister is a local and goes there every birthday because she loves it so much!

The restaurant is tried and true, understated elegance , attentive service. All those things are still true. My husband ordered the wagu special. The meat was very very tender. I had the 7 ounce filet. As usual, we shared tastes, and we really couldn't tell flavor difference between the two meats. The filet is still that good. I also ordered the mushrooms as a side. A very generous portion came and they were fine. Not amazing, but fine. Our waiter treated us to a lovely strawberry cheesecake and we really liked it. It was light and flavorful. A nice end to a heavier meal. We like River Grille. We truly do. But there was something that didn't resonate as in the past. Maybe the addition of so many other restaurants in the area that also offer wonderful food has shadowed the specialness of this place. Maybe it was a few things that didn't show attention to detail as we were accustomed. We will go again? Of course.

It's a trash restaurant charging 5 star dining prices. They won't even plate a porterhouse steak onto two plates if you ask. Told us we needed to do it ourselves. She laughed at us and said 'he's not going to do that,' referring to the chef. All the other restaurants that serve a porterhouse do that standard because it's a massive steak that two people share, and they offer before you have to ask. Just snobby and weird attitude about certain things. They also serve a cheap version of Caymus wine, but have it priced like it's the premium version (my friend knows wine). 3.5 hours is too long to wait for a meal, especially on a weeknight when the restaurant is empty. They also didn't apologize, acted like this was completely normal, and said 'we didn't know you were in a hurry.' Really? Pay the same price and pick a legitimate high end restaurant like Sestina, Conifer, Junto, Ruth Chris, or Atlas. This place is a joke and I still get mad when I drive by. No idea how they stay in business except maybe for tourists who don't know how bad this place is until they've wasted their time and money. We need better restaurants in this area.

My wife ordered filet and I order the ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection, tasted great, and were very filling. The corn soufflé was outstanding. We each ordered dessert. The hardest part was trying to make a choice from the drool-worthy dessert menu. It is quality food, the price reflects that, but it is a place we will be back to eat at again.

I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here at all. The gentleman who is in charge is usually at the register. He wears a hat, jeans mustache just a regular guy. I used to be a fried shrimp guy but one day I decided to try the hamburger. I asked him to cook it on the flame grill and omg. I go to a fish place for my hamburgers now! So in the interest of evaluating the hype, I ordered some via UberEats and it did not disappoint. First off, thanks to the Uber driver who got the burger and fries to my hotel while the food was still hot and the sodas were still cold. I was able to enjoy the juicy and flavorful King of the Monsters burger in all its 1/2 lb glory! The jalapeños were sautéed in just the right amount so that the heat was still there, but the flavor wasn't overwhelming. What I really loved was the balance of all the ingredients together, resulting in a taste of cream cheese, sautéed jalapeños, crispy onions, hot honey, peppered bacon, and Howdy Sauce in every bite. I also got the Pennywise Fries, which I was skeptical about but wanted to give a shot anyway. I was gobsmacked. Queso on fries can be a challenge to the novice, but the expertly cooked cheese was just the right consistency... not too thick and not too runny. I washed it all down with a couple diet dr. peppers and I went to sleep a happy man. I will DEFINITELY be back next time I'm in town.
