Beyond happy this location has opened in the old Midpoint restaurant location. This is a very good location with indoor and outdoor seating. Very impressed with how they fixed it up the decor is a definite Asian vibe which truly matches their food. We had Juliette as our server and she was great, had an awesome attitude and sadly she was working lots of tables this visit so she was constantly on the move. The food was phenomenal. Their calamari fries, the Tokorashi potatoes were very tasty. When it came to the main courses they are very delicious and full of flavor. The Blue prawn pad Thai, the KFC chicken lo mein, and the chicken curry were absolutely great choices. This is a great place and testament to the stubborn restaurant chain. If your in highlands this is a must stop.

This is a very cool restaurant, very lively on the night we went, with an outdoor patio and bar. Our server Josh was very friendly. We ordered the smashed cucumber salad (very good), the blue prawn pad thai (delicious) and the stubborn fried rice (also very tasty). We also had a side of kimchee which was spicy and flavorful. The only negatives were 1) limited menu, and 2) pricey.

Such a fabulous new restaurant in Highlands. The menu is a mix of perfectly paired spices. There is something for everyone. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Outside deck with a view of Main St. The service is impeccable.

Service was excellent, and staff were super helpful in narrowing down the amazing choices. We had the avocado cucumber salad and potatoes to start which was the perfect combo of flavor and crunchy/crisp with freshness from the salad and fat from the potatoes. We shared the chicken curry and wagyu sesame noodles and wow! So much flavor. The Wagyu was perfection and those mushrooms! Didn't save room for dessert this time so will definitely be back.

My friends and I travel to Highlands annually for a girls trip. This is a new spot on Main Street and is an absolute MUST. The food was phenomenal, drinks were lovely and the service was exceptional! Our server, Ayden, made our experience so fun! He was very friendly and attentive. Made our time here quite enjoyable! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun spot for lunch or dinner!

We visited The Subborn Buddha with friends and got several appetizers to share, we each got an entree, and we shared a dessert, and every single thing we ordered was amazing! I had the Asian Salad and I'm still thinking about it! The service was great too. Our table was ready at the time of our reservation and our server was very attentive. Highly recommend and hope to come back one day!

(Shahi Daawat means Royal Feast or Royal Banquet historically signifying grand meals from princely kitchens with rich dishes, luxurious presentation and cultural elements and often themed around specific Indian states of festivals and tracing back to royal recipes. Kerala is a coastal state on the south of India having a coastline of about 400 miles along the Arabian Sea. The food there being popular for their fresh ingredients, rich spices, coconut and seafood.) First of all we were both greeted with a beautiful and fragrant Jasmine garland by the owner and staff outfitted in typical dress and we were seated on a table with banana leaves as our plates for the first portion of the feast (yes; it was a feast!!!). The appetizers started arriving promptly with a variety of proteins starting with chicken deliciously seasoned and delightfully crunchy. The chicken was followed by Medu Vada with Coconut Chutney and Pan Roasted Prawns, Vada with Chutney and a delicious Mushroom Pepper Fry. Then the entrees began: Idli and Sambhar, Lamb Chettinad, Kadala (chickpea) Curry, Egg Roast, Pepper Chicken, Cabagge Thoran and Kerala Fish Curry. This was accompanied by Malabar Paratha and Lemon Rice. Although the portions of the individual items seemed small, cumulatively became overwhelming, but I would not change it at all. It seemed as if we were welcomed into someone's home and they were gladly sharing all of the dishes of their region. It was a magnificent and comprehensive compilation of dishes from Kerala and I am glad it was so!!! The desserts were three; Kozhikode Halwa (different than Halwa from Northern India; Kozhidode Halwa this delicacy melts in your mouth and it is popular not only in Kerala but in Arabia, Persia, and London. Food historian have traced its origins back to centuries ago), Coconut Burfi (a traditional treat made with coconuts milk and cardamom) and Coconut Kulfi (a delicious frozen coconut milk delight). During the meal the chef, (himself native of Goa, southern India), servers and the owner visited the tables to answer any questions. As if we were transported to a Restaurant in Kerala; It was a delightful, authentic and memorable experience, one that will not be forgotten! We will return to their next experience. Thank you Mehfil, as your full restaurant name suggests/meaning (Mehfil; Yaaron Ki... apno ki=A gathering of friends and loved ones) We definitely felt the love.

My husband's chicken biryani was more like a curry rice, and the flavors were all wrong. My son's chicken tikka was fine, but that could be because it was ordered as "mild". Overall, I wouldn't recommend. For the high rating and the high price point I expected something more authentic.

Gluten free is also noted, We got the Madu Vada, donut like savory appetizer which came with two vegan sauces. For our mains we got Aaloo Gobi Masala and Mixed Vegetable which both came with Basmati Rice. Also included in the order was Tandoori Roti (not gf) They have "Today's Special Dosa's" (not everyday, if they do, a menu for them will be on the table). We've been twice so far and once they had them and once they did not. We've had the same server both times and he is very knowledgeable in vegan accommodations and ensures our meals, including sauces and the like are vegan for us. On our last visit, he gave us a dessert "on the house" and rushed back to tell us it wasn't vegan because it had butter or ghee in it and whisked it away. He offered us a free coke in its place, but we politely declined. We have 1st gen Indian friends who have trained us on Indian food, and the food is very traditional and delicious. The spice level is just right, but if you're not used to he heat in Indian food, you may want to request a lower spice level. The decor is pictures of Indian spices and Indian geography, it's well done. It's nice to have an Indian restaurant of this quality in East TN.

We ordered the tandoori chicken with vegetables and shrimp korma with garlic naan. The food was delicious, we had enough for two meals each. The korma was particularly delightful. Dinner for 2 was around $60. That's a bit pricey in my book, but I'd eat here again. It was worth it, especially considering we had leftovers. I would say that the dishes were at least as good as any we have gotten at some of our favorite spots out of town. Service was very polite and fast for take-out. The price point isn't cheap or expensive, compared to the local competitors, but two of us are getting two meals out of what we ordered. I would recommend you call your order in, rather than use the DoorDash system. The system does not allow for tipping for pick-up orders. I always leave a little for take-out. You can't help but be reminded how companies like DoorDash and Uber take advantage of their partners. If I had any tips for the restaurant...get rid of the plastic take-out bowls and just use those metal take-outs you have for the rice. In the days when more and more of us are concerned about our microplastic intake; putting hot food in the plastic bowls is off-putting. At least to my wife.
