The Stubborn Buddha is an absolute must-visit. The entire menu looked amazing and our order did not disappoint. The Garden Cocktail, dumpling appetizer, grouper main, and salmon main were all outstanding. We sat at the bar where bartender Jared served us but the entire staff is super friendly and attentive. We are starting our 27th Anniversary in highlands. We decided to give this restaurant a try and we were so pleased! We walked in at 6:00 PM to an empty restaurant. We were worried at first but decided to give it a try. So the Ambience was excellent, a restaurant to ourselves. Jared our waiter described some of the main dishes. The two dishes he described; A roasted duck that was out of this world and a Grouper in Thai red curry and coconut sauce. This is a to die for roasted duck with their incredible potatoes and asparagus. One of the best ever duck that I have ever tasted. Crispy skin, juicy, and no fat. The ginger apple dipping sauce was good but the duck was so good I didn't use it. The potatoes were incredible. This was a 6 out of 5! Just WOW! The crispy rice pokè was great. The bang bang prawns are so tasty but not spicy at all. My wife enjoyed the grouper but kept stealing my potatoes. I ordered the coconut cloud cake and added a side of raspberry coulis. Beyond happy this location has opened in the old Midpoint restaurant location. This is a very good location with indoor and outdoor seating. Very impressed with how they fixed it up the decor is a definite Asian vibe which truly matches their food. We had Juliette as our server and she was great, had an awesome attitude and sadly she was working lots of tables this visit so she was constantly on the move. The food was phenomenal. Their calamari fries, the Tokorashi potatoes were very tasty. When it came to the main courses they are very delicious and full of flavor. The Blue prawn pad Thai, the KFC chicken lo mein, and the chicken curry were absolutely great choices. This is a great place and testament to the stubborn restaurant chain. Everything was delicious - each dish had a complexity of flavors and textures that balanced well together as a meal. We are locals and wanted to place an order to go. First, they only list the phone number for reservations. After some digging I stumbled across a number to the actual restaurant. The young lady who answered was slightly less than friendly. I was finally able to place an order with a different employee who sounded both imposed upon and condescending at the same time. The food was mediocre at best, think mall food court with a much higher price. It was edible but there won't be a second order from us. We were disappointed with the food at Stubborn Buddah. We ordered the two appetizers, the samosas and the potatoes. The samosas were pretty good, but the potatoes were very bland. For dinner we got the pork fried rice, chicken tikka masala, and the shrimp pad Thai. The fried rice was $42 and very bland. It had plenty of pork on it, but it wasn't seasoned at all. The Tikka Masala was also expensive for what the dish was. It was not a lot of food and was also bland. The shrimp pad Thai was more flavorful but also seemed to be missing something. Ultimately if you are going to charge those kinds of prices you better have excellent food if I am going to come back. There are too many good options in Highlands to compete. read more

The owner charged my credit card 100 dollars After I cancelled my reservation. I received a text asking me to confirm or cancel my reservation. I had to cancel as had to be out of town. I have a photo copy of that text that clearly says my reservation was cancelled. The day after I cancelled is when I received an email saying the restaurant had charged my card 100 dollars. I have called, emailed and sent texts to dispute this. They never got back with me. We are taking this matter up with the credit card company. The Stubborn Buddha consistently impresses. The food is wonderful and very unique. While there are several great restaurants in Highlands, if you are looking for something different from the usual cuisine of the area, their creative dishes are terrific. The staff is very friendly and you can't go wrong eating there. If the weather is nice, the patio is pleasant and a good way to watch what's happening on Main Street from above. Do yourself a favor and order the duck...it's some of the best I've had anywhere. read more
