Went to String Bean for lunch. Very disappointing .... Ordered Boom Boom shrimp, dressing on the side. It took forever to get it and sauce was all over the shrimp...sent that back. I ordered burger to be "pink inside", the server said that would be medium and when I arrived it was well done. The corrected order of shrimp arrived after we had finished eating. No one ever came over to refill drinks Very poor customer service and my food was terrible. Very disappointing. read more

Interesting place that is part beer shop, butcher and restaurant. The name does not suggest the type of food they serve which is more burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. They do have some interesting takes on southern dishes like chicken & dumpling gnocchi. The parking is limited so be prepared to do a bit of walking. They were serving brunch on our visit but prices seemed a bit too high so we opted for the regular menu. We got the cowpig burger with sweet potato fries and string bean bistro burger with pasta salad. I ordered my burger medium but came out well done so it was dry. No issues with my wife's burger and it was the better tasting of the two. Our server was great and he took care of the mishap from the kitchen. Great food and drinks. read more

Hey Gang This place has it going on, Live Music, fresh Food, Good Food, service is Okay. They put some young fellas to work as bussers but unfortunately gave them no training on how to wipe off tables, so they would just wipe pushing food into the chairs and on the ground near the chairs. This does not hurt the business just more of an inconvenience. Parking can be miserable but, park a few blocks down, and check out the Historic Area on your way up. Beautiful! They hire a lot of youngsters for service (Everyone is young to me lol) and there are no "Seasoned Servers to Explain how to be better" but they plod along and set down some wonderful food and have a wonderful little specialty grocery. Sounds like I am being hard on them and I am not just tweaking what could make this place even better. After or before go to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens and Enjoy the day. My friend and I decided to meet here for dinner on a weeknight. I was a little worried that it would be too packed, but we were able to get a nice seat inside quickly. This place is super cute and has a great vibe. It's a nice place to go with friends or even a casual date night. The menu here is huge! There is a wide variety of options here too. I had only been here once before for lunch so I had some serious thinking to do on what to order. I spotted beautiful salmon in the case on my way in so i went with the Off the Hook option. I was definitely not disappointed! A lot of times I shy away from salmon because it comes out dry and bland. Not the issue here - the salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly! My veggies were cooked to perfection as well. No complaints on my end. My friend ordered a sandwich and pasta salad and loved hers too! It's almost been a week and I am still thinking about the food and atmosphere! I'm plotting to take my husband back ASAP! Forgot to mention...they have an extensive wine and beer selection here! I raved about this place in my initial review but the most recent visit last weekend was not as great. I still say that they have great food and the atmosphere is really nice. On this day, we sat outside on the patio. I am still not comfortable sitting inside just yet. The night was really nice and the patio is really charming. I ordered the same thing, burger. The wait for our food exceeded 30 minutes. We had to ask what the hold up was. The first time my burger came out perfectly medium. I ordered medium again and it came out well done and the duck fat fries weren't hot. The manager asked me if I said medium well and I said no, I said medium. You can tell that the food was sitting awhile in the back. I sent back the food and when my new burger came out it was medium well. I ate it because I was hungry. They offered us free dessert but we aren't dessert people so we declined. I will still give them another chance but maybe we won't go on a Saturday night when its busy. read more

this place is awful. Waited forever to get a waiter to take drink order. Then beer was warm. Ordered appetizers and still didn't have after way too long. Had to keep asking to wait on us. Got another beer, it was warm and I ask the waiter for another chilled glass. He actually didn't believe me and grabbed my beer. Waited another 5 minutes for a less than chilled mug. We eat at this establishment often. We enjoy the food and on nice evenings, it is good to sit outside. We went there last night after having called and made reservations on Thursday evening for Friday evening. We have a favorite waitress and on Thursday, we were told she would be there Friday. When we arrived, our waitress was not scheduled to work and they had no record of our reservation. The food was very good, but everything took a long time between arrival, seating, ordering, food delivery and.receiving check. We believe our Waiter was overstretched. On my way back from the restroom, the hostess came up behind me, ducked under my arm and Brushed me as she rushed by me to answer the desk phone . Just ate dinner at The String Bean. Worst meal I've had in a long time!!! The food took forever to come out and my fries were cold. They cooked me a fresh batch but by then I was a bit steamed. My Belmont Chicken sandwich was terrible! Thin, dry, over cooked and tasteless! My wife's Caprese sandwich was just about burnt! I've been dying to try String Bean forever, and finally found myself in the area near dinner. So glad we finally made it in! We arrived very early, having skipped lunch, we got there right around 5pm. The place was not full at that time, but as we sat it began to fill up. Clearly people love this place! What I didn't realize was that the String Bean is more than a restaurant. It is a purveyor of wines and gourmet meats and cheeses. Quite a few patrons came in just for these items only. It really contributed to the atmosphItere of a French or Italian market. The outdoor seating area is strung with lights and also transports you. Very charming. Our food was delicious. We shared an order of fried pickles first. They were homemade pickles, breaded with crunchy panko crumbs and served with a delicious creamy Ranch dressing. The pickles were too thickly cut for me, but that is my own hang up. It was clearly marked on the menu that way. My sandwich was the Cuban and it was really awesome. While not exactly traditional, with the pulled pork and the ciabatta bread, it still was one of the best I've had. A really great version! Service was good, our waitress was kind and mostly attentive. We went one spell without her immediate presence, but I still felt taken care of. I will definitely be back! read more

Went to String Bean Last night for Girls night after a movie. We sat outside since it was such a Lovely evening. We were there less than 20 minutes when we started noticing roaches crawling all over the concrete. We would have left but had already ordered. Other tables noticed them too and would say " They are over here too". Before we (6) of us left we had killed about 4 and two crawled across the table. Management needs to spray nightly before opening to patio for dinner. I understand it's outside where there are bugs but this was not just one or two. The Cowpig was truly the BEST burger I've ever had! If you love burgers...I guarantee this will be your favorite or at least in your top 5! The flavor is so unique...I can't even put words to how delicious it was because it won't do it justice! My husband and I sat at the bar where the service was exceptional! Yum! We came here for lunch and we were seated right away. There is some outside seating, but it was definitely a tad too chilly for that! They have lots of wines on display for sale inside and other goodies! I had a tough time deciding what I wanted to eat because it all sounded AMAZING. I ended up getting the Caprese Panini with a side of fresh fruit. It was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese, pesto, roasted tomatoes and a balsamic reduction. This was my first trip to Belmont and we stopped because we were headed to see the Christmas lights. The string bean was recommended to us by someone at one of the stores we stopped in to, and so we decided to try it. When you first walk in, you walk through their Deli area and they have a great selection of meats and wine. We sat outside, and even though it was a little cool, we were near the fireplace and it was pleasant. Feel bad because I'm writing this review several weeks after eating here, and I can't remember what I had! However, I do remember that it was very good and we both enjoyed our meals immensely. Our server was incredibly kind and helpful, and we fully intend to return to try more menu items. We have both also recommended this place to several of our friends who are planning to visit Belmont. Went for lunch today at 11:30 AM. Was greeted nicely and seated by Amelia. Very soon our waitress, Samantha, welcomed us and took our drink order, and upon bringing our drinks, took our lunch order. I thought we waited a bit longer than expected for our lunch order to arrive as we had beaten the crowd, however, our lunch orders were very well prepared and were delicious! We were pleased that Samantha checked back on us twice after receiving our lunches. She was extremely pleasant and did everything to make our experience delightful. The payment process and wait time was also very good. We definitely will be back! Additionally, we met the manager, George. He was very informative about the wine and beer offered there. I've never seen so many different beers. While I'm certainly no connoisseur of wine or beer, George explained much of what's offered.
