Are you a home brewer? Whether you are a pro or an amateur, Alternative Beverage can equip you for it! In an old textile warehouse right by the river lurks Alternative Beverage. Shelf after shelf of beautiful shiny stainless steel brewing equipment. All the ingredients you need to brew your own beer or even wine. Need an enormous can of Marion Berries or Mango? It's there. Also Draft and fermentation equipment! On Saturdays, they tap a keg of homebrew for patrons to sample. They even sell Hop Rhizomes!! That's pretty cool!!

Not long afterward I gathered all of the equipment needed to brew using the all-grain method. Rick has every grain malt that I named to him for making all kinds of beer. He has all of the yeasts and hops, also. I usually just stick with my favorite, 2-row mahr, crystal 40, Safale yeast, and Centennial hops to make an excellent clone of Bells Two-Hearted IPA. Rick has been nothing but kind, patient, supportive and extremely helpful since I met him in 2013. He's my go-to guy!

Visa saw all the untruths and gave them his money and me as well. Rick is very disrespectful to woman so I advise you take a man with you when making a purchase to make sure you are being treated fair because if he can he will get over on you. There is a wonderful spot in Greenville called Grapes and Grains. I promise you can't go wrong with them. They are not only honest but they are fair. Its a much better place to shop and also wine taste. They educate you fully. Wish I had know about them before the drama with Bet-mar but I got my money back so I am done with this company. They will never get a dime from me again.

On one side, you have a pour-your-own-beer bar and on the other a home brew supply shop. During this particular visit, while we poked our heads into the shop, we were there to drink beer! We checked in at the counter and got a quick orientation to their technology. Then, we were turned loose to pour our own beer, settle in to the comfy couches, and play a few card games. The bar area is crazy comfortable. Handsome design, darkly lit, lots of communal games to be played and great seating options. The guy working that night (I think he was the owner) was crazy friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The only reason The Nook doesn't get 5-stars from me (yet) is the beer selection and the plastic cups. Call me a snob, but I just really think plastic cups ruin beer. I need glass! Of the 6 taps/choices on the evening we visited, there was only 1 beer I was really excited about. Other than those couple of minor gripes, we loved the Nook and will most certainly be back!

The bartender was super friendly and talkative, which I love. He gave us some good restaurant recommendations. You get a card from the bartender who's right near the front door. And you go to the taps yourself and swipe the cards to activate them, then pour to your heart's desire. You are then charged later when you are finished and are ready to leave. Cool idea! Fun spot.
