They carry cute hats, socks, women clothing, toiletries, vases, plant pots, plants, stationaries, leather wallets and more. They have kids corner too. Still a fan of "The Store" at Descanso Gardens. Their seasonal plants, succulents, and garden decor are always of interest. They had a great selection of Christmas Cactus during our last visit. We took Sweet Granddaughter to see the lilacs, roses, and what was left of the cherry blossoms and camellias. She loves to visit the gift shop, and asked for several items, including a card that she could give her mom for Mother's Day. She insisted on choosing a little dahlia plant for me to have, as well. Like a said, "Sweet". We have our ritual of visiting the gardens, then stopping in the shop as a last hurrah. I enjoy seeing how they rotate and display the seasonal merchandise. Since the remodeling, it's even better for visual arrays of goods. The prices are full retail, but they are making money to help support the gardens overall, so I don't begrudge them that. It's also valuable that their buyer(s) choose some diverse items that aren't repetitive with other shops. read more

BEAUTIFUL GIFT SHOP WITH LOTS OF NICE THINGS ========================================== Descanso Gardens has really stepped things up in their Gift Shop the past few years. Everything is beautifully organized. For example I love hummingbirds and they have a section with so many gifts centered around hummingbirds. They even have a beautiful pillow that I have been eyeing. They also have a section centered around butterflies. They also have a great selection of children's toys. They have a section for Easter things. Last year I bough a beautiful wood carved bunny. I got my husband a birdhouse at the Gift Store for Christmas which he really likes and a few little birds have used it. They have all sorts of great outdoor plants on the patio in addition to decor type items. I bought a beautiful wind spinner there a few years ago during a member sale. In the room on the other side of the patio they have lots of indoor plants, seeds and planting tools. This weekend, March 16, 2024 through March 17, 2024 members received a twenty percent discount on any purchases. You do not need to be a member to enter the Gift Store. I have a ritual when I visit Descanso gardens! I always stop by the gift shop at the end of my visit! It is one of my favorite gift shop because of its cute building, it makes it so adorable! They always have new merchandise, seasonal one so it never has that "same old, same old " feeling. They always have new items on display and it helps you to get inspired for a gift idea. Needless to say, lots of cool items for yourself. Their honey and jelly selection is amazing! Today I ended up getting a beautiful scarf as a birthday present for my mom in law. We also got a baseball hat, my husband and I will share it, needed an extra one around and their selection is good and classier. I am not a baseball hat person, but sometimes you need one. I would rather get it here, support this beautiful place! If you spend over $70 you get a free calendar. We got a free poster for the gardens with our $50 purchase. My mom loves flowers so she will enjoy it. Not a cheap place, but the items have a great quality. And customer service is very good! The gardens and the actual event "carved" on October 5th that we went to was great, but my problem lies with their new farmhouse restaurant. When we checked in, the hostess was really annoyed that we came 30 min early and asked to sit inside when they had us seated on the patio originally. I understand that, but she didn't have to be visibly irritated. We even said we were fine with the wait. Well it seemed like she sat us in an area with no one assigned because we maybe saw our waitress three times. My husband didn't like his tuna burger, wasn't cooked how he wanted it, but by the time she came back we were ready to leave. We mentioned it to her and she shrugged and said "let me get a manager". At this point we just wanted to leave so we left it. Paid $200 dollars for stale bread and undercooked meat. No one said happy birthday to my mother. It was an awful experience and I wouldn't recommend it. read more

This is fun to browse even if I didn't buy anything this time. Great service from employees who asks if customer is a member, as members get a 10% discount. There's a small gardening area with sales. Find really cute gifts, beautiful houseware, cards, jewelry and other knick knacks. They sell some expensive snacks. In fact most items are pricey but make unique gifts or go ahead and treat yourself, since admission is a deal, $15 ($11 for seniors) vs $29 for adults at Huntington Gardens. Or for $5 or less choose from gorgeous magnets, postcards and 2 sided keychains of the garden. On my next visit I plan on grabbing a few. read more

Visited this cute gift shop at the end of December during the Enchanted Forest of Light event at Descano Gardens. I am a sucker for gift shops because I like to purchase magnets as keepsakes. The magnets here were very unique because some had flowers sealed the acrylic (or whatever material that is). Once you step into the gift shop, there is a sale rack to the left and a majority of us ventured there first. Really nice customer service and she even help wrap the magnet for me because we were just entering the event and I was afraid that the magnet would get damaged in my bag. And I was also afraid the magnet would destroy my electronics. I felt that the magnet was well priced as compared to other gift shops. A great place to find very cute knick knacks and souvenir items. Located just behind the ticket counter, there's no fee required to peruse the gift shop. If you want to get unique gift items for any occasions, this is the place to be. Items for sale are always rotated based on holidays and festivals. Because of that, there's always something new to see. Just like when I attended the cherry blossom festival, they have lots of Items with that motif such as Japanese paper umbrella, tea sets, pens, stationery, etc. Also on sale during my visit are Easter items like bunnies, baskets and very cute Easter eggs in different colors and designs. On the other side of the store is a mini nursery where you can buy different varieties of plants, pots, gardening tools and accessories. They have so many neat items crammed into the patio and the store itself. There is a range of low-high priced items. I liked a lot of the garden ornaments, particularly the stone owls and cats. I love a good gift shop and Descanso ranks up there with the best! I could come here everyday! Seasonal gift ideas are abundant! All things related to gardening and the gardens are available. But my favorite part... THE PLANTS! Ohhh... my... goodness!! So many plants! I couldn't leave without picking up a few new succulents. I also found a bunch of new ideas to bring home to my own garden. The staff was friendly and they even securely packaged up my new plants in a box for their drive home. I confess, I am a horticulture-geek. And nothing sends me as much as getting a good literary companion to this region's species and an English Garden gnome! Often I am in dire need of the company one of England's campiest institution (the Garden Gnome) for house warming presents and well... campy indulgences and here is where you can hit pay dirt! The Descanso Gardens is shop is staffed by (like you) plant and nature enthusiasts who are always at the ready to give great suggestions for what to read, buy and plant. The store is stocked with great books, stationary, and children's toys that support the mission of Descanso. There are always great bargains on the "sale" table. Take a look outside in the outdoor section. They have some great plants and pots. And keep your eyes open below, as this is often where the gnomes hide. Okay, so sometimes I go to Descanso Gardens just to go to the gift shop. You can get in to the shop without needing to pay an admissions fee if you plan to do the same. The reason why I go is that I like unusual house/garden plants and occasionally they'll have those in the back. If you like ferns, camellias, orchids, african violets, various bulbs then I suggest coming by frequently to see what they have. read more
