Welcome to visit this store, where they seem to take 'serving with a smile' to a whole new level - if by smile you mean an eye-roll and by service you mean a lesson in invisibility. It's remarkable, really, how some staff can show such commitment to making you feel... well, let's just say, less than welcomed. And to think, all this time I believed 'exclusive shopping' referred to the merchandise, not the customer service model based on skin color. A truly 'enlightening' experience that redefined 'service with a snub.' Tip for east coast ivy: it's a store, not a 1950s diner; might want to update your service policies to reflect that.

The owner or employee is definitely racist. A white Female…read more I and my boy friend went to this store and tried to look for some dresses for my graduation and vacation. What happened? Nobody helps, only a woman hiding in the back of the reception staring at ours with her eyes rolling and mouth pouted. You think I am too sensitive? Not at all. I picked some dresses and wanted to try it on. So as the regular process, she should take my clothes and make me in the line waiting for the fitting room - it may not be the responsibility but she did that to everyone in the store at that period. I waited, and I talked to her - she heard that, but did not give us any response. She let another girl, who come later than me, use the fitting room. I found that, and I questioned - silence and no response again. She then took the clothes I picked - after I noticed her many times. When it is my turn, I asked her to pass me the clothes. She rolled her eyes and did not give me any response. I waited there for a long time again. While everyone has a basic "welcome" and "bye-bye," we don't receive any polite greeting. I am sad cuz I love Boston, I lived here for a long time, and as an Asian I never met any racism in Boston. I believe that Boston is a great city to live at and the thing happened today really upset me. While beacon hill is one of my favorite place to shop at Boston, I never imagine this kind of thing will happen to me one day.

It was great getting to try on rings in person and seeing all the beautiful pieces up close. Meg was incredibly friendly and helpful--she answered all my sizing questions, pulled up my past purchases, and even showed me their charm case. Catbird offers free welding if you want to add a charm to your bracelet or necklace, which is a nice touch. When I mentioned I'd lost a ring, she generously offered me 20% off to replace it. And since Catbird rarely goes on sale (15% at most), I had to replace my Painter's Gold Stacking Ring! Plus, the sales tax in Mass (yes, jewelry is taxed here!) is already lower than CA's.

We never felt pressured to buy before we were ready, and the sales associates and Laura herself answered any and all questions we had. My husband thinks that most engagement rings look like ring pops.. They are too high up. Prior to us starting the search for the right ring, I assumed my options were going to be high settings. But when we arrived at Laura Preshong, we quickly realized that we were in the right place. The settings are lower but exquisite. And there are many beautifully handcrafted designs to chose from. We found our favorite and then went back this spring to look at wedding bands. Ultimately, my husband went for a chain store wedding band since he wanted something very simple that was cheaper elsewhere. But my wedding band if from Laura Preshong and it's beautiful and fits perfectly with my engagement ring. I've been married for a month and a half now, but I still look at my rings and think they are SO beautiful. Laura Preshong is an upbeat, fun person. You get to know her and her staff personally while you work with them. I highly recommend. I am kind of relieved to read that other reviewers had a similar experience as me because Laura was so dismissive and made me feel like it was my fault that I wear my rings too hard.
