We attended a wedding at The Standard. It was a very nice facility. I found it a little strange that the entrance was on the side of the building, but no matter - it's all good. We gathered on the first floor and went up to the rooftop for a cocktail party and Hors d'oeuvres before the wedding. They had a variety of delicious items. The bar was great and the drinks generous. The wedding was on the rooftop -- a beautiful setting for a marriage. I'm guessing there was room for about 100 people. After the wedding, we went down to the 2nd floor where they had tables set up for dinner. It's a lovely venue. The food and service were great. After the meal, the rooftop was opened again for dancing. Desert was available indoors on the 3rd floor, coming in from the rooftop. All in all, this is a great location for a large party or gathering. They did a great job, in a nice venue, of showing everyone a great time. read more

One of the best venues in the area. So far I've been here for 3 weddings, and each time I've been struck by how the staff goes over and above to make sure everyone has a fantastic experience. Great aesthetic, everything is super clean, and the space can be used creatively based on whatever the event needs. As far as I'm aware, it's available for all types of gatherings: weddings, corporate events, big birthday parties, you name it. My wife and I had our wedding here on May 27th, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and we are beyond happy with how everything turned out. We had 180 people at our wedding, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The venue has a cool style and aesthetic, which allows it to still look really nice without having to do a ton of decorating. When we were looking at venues, we looked at probably 6-7 before this one. This one is the only one that really stood out to us for both its style and staff. The staff at the Standard were nice, chill, and super easy to work with. Our only compliant was that there was some miscommunications with setting up meetings and with how the Day of Coordinator service would work the day of the wedding. All in all, we could not imagine having our wedding at any other venue! read more

The standard went above and beyond for our wedding this June. The experience we had was unmatched. We used Sara as our planner and would recommend her a million times over to everyone getting married at the standard. She made our dreams come to life and was so kind/attentive/soft spoken throughout the entire planning process. Sara took every idea we had and executed it flawlessly. Tim - the bar manager went above and beyond to make our cocktail visions come to life. Tim even has rental options to make cocktail hour more lively - we rented yard games from him to have out during cocktail hour and the reception - our guests raved about it. The treatment we got from the standard made this the best experience we could have ever asked for. Sara presented us with ideas to make the day flow the best. She also got us the best vendors in the Rockford area - we really cared about having a guest centered wedding and she helped bring that to life. The venue itself is STUNNING - and the staff made it all worth it. Our guests complimented the professionalism and kindness they received from all of the staff. We are so sad that our time with the Standards staff is over - we looked forward to meeting and talking with them throughout our engagement. We definitely will have other events at the Standard as life events come up. The standard made our wedding perfect and the process was so fun for us - we felt so supported throughout and had guidance on all of the important decisions. Timely and helpful communication made planning easy, especially since we planned it in only 5 weeks total! The AllSeated website they gave us access to made site (tables, chairs, high tables, DJ, etc) planning seamless and everything was set up just as pictured when we got there Maya was all over the logistics when it came to setting the ceremony and post-ceremony layout. My husband and I got married here in July 2019 and we absolutely LOVED everything about this venue, from the man cave and bridal suite to the beautiful decor and lighting on every single floor to the modern but rustic feel. Sara and Johnna answered all of our questions every step of the way and were so helpful everytime we went to Rockford to visit and knock out wedding logistics (we live in Chicago). Johnna was a fantastic venue coordinator for the day before and the day of our wedding. My fiancée and I were all set to have a great wedding at the Standard, then COVID-19 hit. Our wedding was suddenly in jeopardy, we were going to have to cancel what was supposed to be one of the most special days of our lives, it was devastating, but somehow the Standard staff and management managed to make our grave situation even worse. We had no choice but to cancel our wedding due to government gathering restrictions, so we requested a full refund of $5,000 back from the Standard, if we couldn't use the money to celebrate our marriage with our loved ones then at least it could help us get our new life started. However, the Standard refused, claiming that they 'are not in a position to issue a refund', in other words they are greedy leeches trying to suck money from newlyweds. Thankfully my fiancée and I went back to the contract we signed with the Standard where it clearly states that the client is due a FULL REFUND in the case of cancellations due to orders by governmental authorities, so we called their management to bring this to their attention yet they still refused to refund us and now threatened to bring in their attorney to ward us off. It became obvious that they had no intention of refunding us, they wanted to scare us and hope that we retreated like scared puppies while they run off with our money. Thankfully they have a half decent attorney who told them that due to the contract they had no choice but to refund us. Weeks later we still never received a refund even though they claimed they mailed us a check. It never came. When we realized that they were yet again trying to swindle us we requested that they instead refund our credit card that we originally used to pay which is as simple as selecting 'refund' on the CC machine. Not so fast though... they now claimed they weren't able to refund our credit card because they didn't know how to do it since they have never had to process a refund for a client before, this was just one of the many excuses they gave to try and delay the refund even further. Finally, after further delays we had no choice but to inform them that our attorney would be contacting them if they continued to refuse to refund us, now they realized that they weren't going to get away with stealing our 5K and they 'magically' figured out how to refund our credit card. We really wanted our experience here to be a good memorable one, unfortunately this is memorable in the worst way possible and was a terrible stress to deal with during what should have been a wonderful time as we prepared for our marriage. I would not recommend the Standard to anyone after this, they have shown their true colors as money hungry, self-preserving creatures and it is a real shame. read more

We were married at The Standard this past June and could not have picked a better venue, worked with a better team, or been happier with how the wedding turned out. Sara helped us to throw the most perfect wedding anyone could have ever asked for. Every detail was exactly as we envisioned, our friends and family had the time of their lives, and we had the best night ever. The venue was pristine from the Man Cave in the basement, to the gorgeous Bridal Suite and the Rooftop and Atrium. Sara's relationships with many of our vendors, attention to detail, and calm nature helped both of us to feel relaxed and able to take the time to take in the importance of the day. When my sister and her fiancée began looking at venues, we were all blown away by the standard. Unfortunately, the people who run it are nowhere near as spectacular. Due to Covid 19 my sister and her fiancée had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel the beautiful wedding they had planned for. Dreams of family & friends coming from near and far to help celebrate their love, were all gone in an instant. It was torture having to watch two people whom you love dearly have to deal with the added anxiety and uncertainty that ensued. Just when we thought it couldn't get worse, the Standard notified them that they would NOT be refunding their deposit of 5K. We were all baffled since Illinois had implemented social distancing and restrictions on group gatherings, how exactly the venue expected the wedding to go on...? It was then that my brother in law to be, spoke with one of the managers on board, "John". John refused to let him get a word in, cut him off when he somehow managed, and immediately threatened to consult their lawyer. My brother in law politely asked for his email, so that he too could contact his lawyer. HE REFUSED TO PROVIDE IT! Fast forward, John called back and said he was advised by said lawyer to issue a refund per the contract (what do you know...). The refund would come in a form of a check and was supposed to be mailed that day (they claimed they were not able to refund it via credit card). Surprise, surprise- IT NEVER CAME. After 6 days of waiting, and dodged calls (literally, my brother in law had to call from a different number for the 'event specialist', Sarah, to answer!) he was finally able to speak with her and demand a refund that day. He ended up having to threaten legal action and 5 minutes later, lo and behold, they magically figured out how to refund to card! (Maybe they finally got google to work and were able to find a tutorial? We might never know.....) To put it bluntly, SHAME ON YOU! You made a hard time even harder, for absolutely no reason at all! Not only are you greedy, you're unprofessional and quite frankly not very smart for not knowing your own contract. I can't imagine ever recommending this business to anyone I have even one minuscule of respect for. read more

Throughout the Covid crisis, the Standard has been wonderfully accomodating both financially and emotionally. Modifications were made and a full refund was quickly granted. We look forward to having the wedding portion at the beautiful setting of which the Standard has to offer. read more
