Major, our instructor, was the best; super chill, encouraging, and made everyone feel like they could actually do this. He said he's heading up to NorCal later this week, so we're already sad we won't have him next time. He kicked things off with about 30 minutes onshore, rules, safety just learning the basics and getting our balance, then it was straight into the waves. And yes, everyone actually stood up and surfed! The kids thought they knew the ocean from boogie boarding, but this was a whole new level of fun. Lots of wipeouts, tons of laughs, and those "I can't believe I just did that" moments. Eric, the owner, was awesome too, quick with texts, super helpful with any little hiccups, and just made it all easy. Such a fun, unforgettable experience. Totally recommend if you want to add a little "surf's up!" to your vacation.

He was so kind, patient, and supportive throughout my lessons, and really helped me build my confidence in the water. He explained everything clearly, gave me helpful tips, and made sure I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. I left feeling excited to surf again and so grateful for his guidance. If you're looking to learn or improve your surfing, I can't recommend Erik enough -- you'll be in the best hands!

He's incredibly supportive, calm and patient- we were connected via radios in the helmets. Christian gave me beta just when I needed it. I was up on foil turning in circles- halfway thru the lesson- and almost overwhelmed by joy. Christian loves efoiling and his enthusiasm resonated with mine so much that i feel like we've been on the same team for years. The Lift efoil worked flawlessly-- it's the best in the market. Christian also provided a super safe environment, safety vest along with the helmet. For me this whole experience was such a dream come true -- words fail to illustrate the pure exhilaration- the glorying stoke has not worn off. Can't wait to get out and efoil some more. Thank you Christian!!!

Meeting at our planned location and time he had all the gear ready to go including helmet with two way hands free radio which makes for easy coaching. In very little time we were flying above the water in tandem. The feeling is like surfing on a jet powered magic carpet. He even managed to get some pictures of me riding and had drinks waiting when we were done. Couldn't have had more fun on such a serene marine morning. For those interested in trying this futuristic experience, I highly recommend Take flight water sports.

We got super lucky with the weather and both sailings went smoothly. Island Packers staff members were friendly and knowledgeable about the channel and islands. We also got to see so much marine life! Both days we spotted humpback whales, which the staff were quick to point out. We also got to see two massive pods of common dolphins! This was such a cool experience, especially since they love to play in the boat wake. Overall, Island Packers provided a seamless, well-organized experience.

First day I took this ferry out from Ventura Harbor to the Santa Cruz Island and it was about 90 minutes and we got to see plenty of dolphins and whales. And if wildlife is spotted, they make it a point to stop so we can watch the animals up close! Note that day trippers and campers are all packed onto this ferry. Second day, I took the ferry from Ventura Harbor to Santa Rosa Island and the ride out was 3 hours, so plan for that. Again, we saw quite a lot of wildlife. We also on the way back, got a really nice look at the Painted Cave. Third day, I took the ferry from Oxnard Harbor to Anacapa Island and it was about an hour. This was a much smaller ferry, limited selection in their galley. Again, saw plenty of wildlife and got a nice video of a humpback whale. All 3 experiences were excellent and would use them again. Note that ferry ticket isn't cheap, so plan for that. Also not the different harbors that have ferries out, lots of options. I would definitely use them again next time I return!

As it turns out, all of the harbor seals, and sealions have names. We befriended one named Steve, he is much better at swimming than I am. He also taught me secret techniques to paddling. We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to do it again--highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exceptional experience!
