I have to admit that I am somewhat impressed with their evolution over time, namely in regards to the beers that are available, and the fact that they have raised the concept of a sports bar to a new level, namely that they feel much better to sit down with a drink, and a lot less sleazy, that others. Of course, one of the main things that sets them apart is the fact that they pretty much has no pokies.

The fitout of this sports bar didn't do a lot for me. A bit grey and dull, I reckon. The scotches on offer were a bit pedestrian. I chose a Glenfiddich which was ok but as always no standout performer. Service was just ok here without any real warmth or human interest. I actually prefer the pokies pub up the road - and I momentarily forget its name - despite the fact that I detest pokies. The atmosphere is better there. The staff have been lovely there when I've visited. Tim E's review encourages me to discount thoughts of ever eating at the Sporting Club. In the end the only thing I really liked was the name of the place although a person I trust likes this place. Such is life. PS - I later remembered the name of the pub up the road. It's called The Vine. The front bar is called The Vineyard. In all of Melbourne there's not a place that looks less like a vineyard.

This part of the hotel is also home to a large bar and TAB, but you can order food from the bistro to enjoy in the more casual setting. Fridays here go from relaxed to party HQ as the DJ livens things up as young and old head past security into the hot spot Terrace Bar. Saturday night is 80's music night so head here to get your retro dance moves out! To enjoy the bistro on weekends or in groups it is best to book as it gets busy. It is worth the prep time though as the food is good pub grub. The large dining room is loud and casual and you will have to head up to the counter to order your meal and the bar to grab a drink. If your toting kids then the games area at the back of the bistro should distract them while you linger over coffee or desert. The LP Hotel has a gaming area which is filled with pokies if your into that type of thing (I'm not) which also has a separate bar. My tip? Drop by the bistro on a Wednesday night for $12 Parma and Pot! If your taking your party on the road then the LP Hotel Bottle shop is located 200 metres down the road, to the right as you exit the upper car park.

I've been wanting to come here ever since I went past it years ago to seem them redeveloping it, and while it was quite hike to get to (especially if you don't have a car) I was really glad that I did. The bush setting certainly gives it a lot of character, and the beer garden, which looks out over the creek, is a great place to spend your time. It appears that it turns into a night spot after 7:00 pm because they bring out the ID checker and station a bouncer at the entrance. This is certainly a place I would like to return to some time.

I guess, when compared to all the other places along Brunswick street, this place simply doesn't compare one bit. In a way, it feels as if it really would be more suited to being in the outer suburbs as opposed to being here on Sydney Road, but then again I guess that the people that would frequent a place like this would need a place that aren't swarmed with the young and the hip, and blasting out live music. Oh, and don't expect a decent selection of tap beers either, there aren't any.

Great atmosphere and welcoming friendly staff... Typically I decided to have the Classic Chicken Parmigiana, highly recommend, and my friend had the Mexican Parmigiana, has jalapenos, also highly recommend. Reasonably priced, and I would recommend asking about accommodating children. If you knew me, I've had parmigiana at more than a few venues in Melbourne, Australia, the Classic Chicken Parmigiana lived up to the others I've had, the chicken was perfectly cooked. The venue I recommend to locals and tourists alike - FIVE STARS

Another couple had been there a few days before and raved about it, so off we went. Although we were seated relatively quickly, ordering was slow, and delivery from the kitchen even more so. OK, the drinks came quickly, although I was served a Heineken (Lager), when I clearly ordered a Kilkenny (Irish Red Ale). That's kind of embarrassing for an Irish Pub to mix up those 2 very different beers. The wait for our dinner so long that a couple just finishing up at the next table offered to try to find our waitress who had disappeared. We found her later at the bar with a friend, probably just off work, and with a poor handoff. Someone else eventually delivered our meals, which was pretty good, particularly Gayle's Chicken Parma. My issue was that half of my Mussels were "welded shut", despite my messy attempts. After several minutes of trying to find someone, I basically told that flustered person to take the plate away because I was done with this place. To the restaurant's credit, they took the Mussels off the tab with a half- hearted apology at the cash register, not our table. A much need snack at the local 7-11 finished off my evening meal. Let's just call it a bad night from a franchise Irish Pub that failed these customers.

We ordered the ribs that were on a 1/2 price special and they were amazing, and as we each ordered different sauces it led to a friendly argument about who's was better. We followed that up with the dessert platter which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The service couldn't be faulted, food came out in good time, drinks were served immediately after ordering, and staff were constantly making sure we were happy and not in need of anything. We have since returned twice and become members in order to make good use of their happy hour while dining (jar cocktails are $8.90 for members, $12.90 full price) the ribs special is a regular Monday thing and they have other specials throughout the week eg steak night, Parma night, burger night, $1 ribs ect. Value for money is pretty reasonable, but fantastic if you take up the specials on offer. For 3 servings of 1/2 priced ribs, a dessert platter, a jug of cider, a soft drink and ice cream spider it cost us $90
