Major improvement needed. I had an eye exam on May 25th, ordered 2 pairs of glasses. My Appointment was at 9 am I didn't leave their office until 11:30. Still waiting for my glasses. I've called twice and sent messages with NO response. I called again today & was told they don't know what happened with my glasses, they still don't have them. Supposedly the office manager is going to track my order down & let me know. The doctor was great and thorough found I have the start of a cataract but the technicians that complete the order for the eye classes need fired. They need experienced people. The technician was training another one but instead of her (the experienced one) doing the order & having the other one (no experience) just watch & take notes. She let the unexperienced one put my information in, measure me for the bi-focal. The entire time she was saying "oh I told you wrong, start over". It took longer than it should have & I still have no glasses. This is the last time I will use this clinic. If I don't have my glasses soon I'm demanding a refund & will take my prescription elsewhere. read more

I want to preface this by saying that I have 18 years of experience in the optical field, primarily in labs, but also in retail. My experience with this place was pleasant, until I picked up my glasses. The "optician", I use that term very loosely, handed me the glasses, and told me to have a nice day. No attempt to check the adjustment or have me look at a reading card. To add insult to injury, I lost one of the lenses, so I called to check the price of a replacement lens, and was informed that I would need to pay full price for a pair of lenses. These are progressive lenses, and I was told that it would be $300-$400 to replace them. I have witnessed some ridiculous things in the optical field, but this whole situation is utterly absurd. I only give one star because zero is not an option. read more

The optometrist is very good. She really does a good job. But I went in to have a pair of glasses adjusted and the look on their face was " what's that mean" they said why, where . I just said I'd go elsewhere. I'll not go back for frames or adjustments, wait, what that mean. Lol read more

this place has totally gone downhill, 1st ordered wrong glasses 2nd got new glasses but could not see out of them and one of the front desk lady said.... "well they were made right" in a bitch mode and i replied if they were Id be able to see. She went to get a manager and I waited on my lunch hr. for no one to come talk to me....Had to come back it took 20 min for me to see someone who could help, and guess what? they were made wrong. (she was nice and perfectional) 3rd attempt got new glasses and now i can see the number and circles in the my lens part. they said that's normal. i have worn glasses since i was 10 i am 53 now and have NEVER seen any numbers printed on my lens. oh and I paid the extra for night glare and that is a waste of money. its just as bad now as it has always been. the lady at the front desk with over sized glasses if very rude read more

They are rude and will not help with a single thing the screws fell out of my glasses and they said I would have to pay for one screw just so I could see. If they stand by quality they could fix a small screw holding my lens in place instead it's 160 bucks. Not good business practices. Or I need an eye exam (lots of money) before they will even think about fixing my glasses. They offered me try else were. I can't see. How can I go else were. ? I deserve a response. All you are doing is making people pay for expenses of the eye exam and not giving them glasses to see. read more

3 people in our family have had eye exams and bought glasses yearly for 9 years. This year they lost all of our business. My sons glasses broke, I made an appointment for the soonest exam and was called the day before the appointment saying they'd made a mistake due to someone new working and it would be another 4 weeks, which would leave my son without his glasses for 8 weeks! When they said it might have been someone new working and I said it was her that I'd talked to, they disconnected me on the phone! read more

Went to the spec shoppe to get my safety glasses. After 6 weeks of waiting and no contact I called, only to be told yhe order was lost and to come back in and reorder. I asked the staff member if it would be an additional six weeks she could not tell me 2 weeks later the original pair came in. When I arrived Sat morning to get my glasses never said a word to me I assume couldn't have cared less that I was there. I told here my name and that I was there to pick up glasses, she wrote down my name and didn't tell anyone I was there still having never said a word to me. I then asked her if she could in fact speak still no verbal response and in fact no eye contact at all. When another staff member came from the back appeared I was able to complete my visit. The doctors and other staff I met were very good. But customer service was the worst I would never go back. read more

No5I've been going to the spec shoppe for contact exams for years. Never in my life have I had a worse experience than I am currently having regarding contacts and customer service. The doctor was great and the staff is friendly. I had my exam on March 6th. After my exam the doc gave me a trial pair of contacts that were a different brand (way more expensive brand) than I've used for years. Which is fine. Well they fit fine and I see great in daylight, but as soon as darkness hit every light had a big glow around it. Being a police officer that does not work for me and I need to be able to see at night without an ora around the light. So I called the next day and explained the issue and they advised they would cancel the order I placed and issue a cash refund that would be mailed out on March 9th. I went back to my previous brand and ordered one box per eye on March 13th. A few weeks later I had yet to recieve my $106 refund or contacts. I called the store and they advised my contacts were in and I needed to come get them. I went to the store only to find out the contacts were not in and they made a mistake. They told me the contacts were actually on back order due to the strength of my prescription. So I waited another week and called back and got the same runaround. I was also told the refund would be mailed shortly. Well here it is April 17th. 6 weeks later. I went into the store again and no sign of my refund or contacts. Employee ashlee Dexter went the extra mile and did some digging and found put that the system shows my contacts were ordered but when she called the distributer they stated they had no record of me ordering. Ashlee hot it set up to have the contacts overnighted to my house tomorrow. Still no word on the $106 refund though. A huge thank you to Ashlee for figuring out my contacts, but this whole process has been very frustrating and continues to be so until I hear word on my refund. UPDATE: upon calling the corporate office, I was advised the store never submitted my refund to them...... hopefully getting sorted out now. I will never come back to Clarkson eye care. read more

The woman who ordered my husbands contacts didn't even tell him about the $75 per 6 mo, or $200 per 12mo rebate available. So she spent all the insurance money on 2 months of contacts. When I pointed it out to the reciptionest she was completely unapologetic!! $200 is a lot of money! I specifically asked about rebates and was told there were none. She was VERY RUDE. Then she slammed down the phone in my ear!!! Unbelievably horrible customer service!!! Don't waste your time or money at this place!!! read more

We've gone here for years, but ever since they sold out to Clarkson Eyecare, their service has been horrible. I decided to give them one last try and scheduled an appointment for my son and I. We usually see Dr. Stroud (love her, wish she worked somewhere else though!) But she was booked solid for months out. So we tried someone new. Ended up there for well over 2 hours. It took 3 weeks for my son's glasses to come in, and when they did, they'd gotten the pupil height wrong and we had to send them back. Another wait. I still haven't gotten my glasses, it's been over a month now and every time I call or go in I get a different excuse. They don't return voicemails either. "Oh, they got lost between here and Texas. Oh, the lab didn't have the frames but didn't tell us. Oh, they just had a storm down there so they're delayed. Oh the lab will call you, it's not our problem..." and on and on. Definitely going to another place next time. This is ridiculous. read more

A month ago, I bought a pair of glasses at the Spec Shoppe. They offered me a protection plan, but i couldn't afford it. Besides, I've worn glasses since kindergarten. It's not hard to keep a pair from breaking. & I paid a lot of money, assuming these were decent, quality frames. Well two nights ago they broke. Arm fell off just like that. & Now I've learned that unless you pay for that extra protection plan, there is no warrantee. It's pretty convenient for that business that they can sell the poorest quality frames at crazy inflated prices, then tell me there's nothing they can do when they break at the one-month mark. No refund. That place is THE BIGGEST rip-off. read more

Do not waste your time or money here. Read other reviews. The females working here are childish and try to manipulate you. It took them 15 minutes after the triple check they like to brag about to finally admit they wrote down the wrong prescription. Then Dr. Marshall came to talk to me like the condescending sniveling petty man he is and tried to ELI5. The a secretary told me to be quiet because a little girl is upset and can hear. Which is a total lie because she was on the other side of the store looking at glasses. Forget these manipulators and their C class service. Never going back will always not recommend. read more

Like another reviewer, I had a very negative experience with a male optometrist a few years ago, and I almost didn't go back. A friend recommended Dr. Stroud, so I saw her yesterday, and I'm very glad I did. She was thoroughly professional and clearly had a great deal of expertise. She took the time to be certain her prescription would meet my needs and didn't try to talk me into something I didn't want. Afterward, the office staff was very helpful and considerate. I will happily go back again after this great experience. read more

They were very polite and knowledgeable. Had a way better experience than at my previous place that I never should have even tried to begin with. I started here in the past and should have just stayed! Love the staff and quality of my glasses. Thanks Spec Shoppe and Clarkson Eyecare!! read more

I been going to dr stroud for 16 years love her! But unfortunately have had problems with the office staff the last three years between loosing glasses scratching new lenses and so on... well today was the last straw I drove over 100 miles for my appointment and they had doubled booked it so they changed mine without notice and then thought it was funny! Well I won't be returning read more

Don't be late a couple minutes your appointment or they will reschedule you weeks to months later even if you call them before to let them know you're running behind. The receptionists have poor customer service skills. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I will never go here again read more

Took over a month to receive glasses, you have to call repeatedly to check on progress. Never received a call back from staff. Obviously reason for prepay since you can't cancel order. Some staff seems trained others not so well. Receptionist rather snippy. Sales staff pushing for additional tests and add ons read more
