David explained their philosophy & curriculum, and made sure we were a good fit for what they offered- this is not just an after-school free play program. We were invited to sit in on a class, which we did. There is a fully printed & bound curriculum workbook that coincides with the daily lesson plans. They have their own printed posters & supplies (nothing is cheaply thrown together here). The teachers are topnotch bilingual & trained- which I personally appreciated as there are other programs that just think because someone speaks Spanish, that automatically qualifies them to teach. Not so. Most importantly is that my daughter enjoys going to Spanish. I was worried that she'd get burnt out or bored and that it would become pulling teeth to get her to go. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The curriculum is engaging & interesting, her teacher is responsive and encouraging, the class size is small and the children are friendly. We are 4 months in, and my daughter sings in Spanish, teaches ME Spanish words, translates material, talks to others and orders her own food at Mexican restaurants in Español. We feel very much welcomed & at home here. David & Ruth are some of the most sincere and inviting people you will meet. It has been worth it!

We recently went on a family trip to Costa Rica and she was interacting the the locals and acting as our interpreter the entire time. The structure in the ST classroom (full immersion, no English spoken) enables the kids to think in Spanish as they learn, rather than translate the English words into the Spanish words in their brains. The teachers are all native speakers which means the kids are learning proper accents and enunciation. The curriculum is tailored to the kids' level and is clearly communicated to the parents at the beginning of the year and throughout the year. There are also several presentations per year where the kids present on various subjects, as well as progress reports given to parents. Overall, a phenomenal program and I would highly recommend it.

The teachers and helpers are the best I have ever seen. They genuinely care about the well-being of every child. My son asks each and every morning (weekend too) if he is going to school today. The fact that he loves going to school and learning social skills with other children and having such a positive bunch of role models around my son while I'm at work is priceless. One of my favorite aspects of this daycare center, is the fact that they pray with the children. They are a religious centered daycare, and for me and my family that is extremely important. When my son comes home from school and can pray at the dinner table without being prompted to, is such a heartwarming feeling. I can't say enough how much I appreciate this daycare center. I highly recommend this place.

Back when my son was at his 5 y/o annual well check-up, I mentioned to his Kaiser pediatrician that I had concerns my son's speech was not where it should be. The doctor referred us to their Speech and Language Dept. where, after a formal assessment, it was determined that my son could benefit from Speech Therapy. Kaiser then gave us a long (and I mean long) list of vendors to reach out to. After calling multiple vendors in the area, only to have them tell me that they had waitlists upwards of 40, I was both desperate and hopeful that Yvonne would be available. I did not want to have to wait weeks, if not months, to get my son started. He was just starting kindergarten, and I did not want him to struggle socially or emotionally due to his speech. I left Yvonne a voicemail and she called me back soon after to inform me that she was able to take us on. Since both of our schedules were very busy and it was still somewhat during the pandemic (2021), we ended up booking Zoom sessions. I was skeptical at first about how practical and effective Zoom would be, but our first session quickly proved that it was going to work. Yvonne is super fun, patient, and efficient. She uses engaging and colorful games that my son immediately took to. He always looked forward to his weekly speech sessions because Yvonne always had something new and exciting to work on. I enjoyed watching her interact with my son as she was often genuinely enthused by his recap of his school day or weekend plans. She leads with positive reinforcement and gives a very helpful summary to the parents at the end of each session. We were given realistic tasks each week of what we (as a family) could be helping our son with daily. Nothing ever seemed too far reaching. Yvonne was very communicative and accessible via phone and email. There were times we had to reschedule, and she was always so kind in helping to find another time that worked in our busy schedules. Yvonne also worked collaboratively with my son's school Speech-Language Pathologist. In the weekly Zoom sessions, Yvonne worked on both her own goals as well as those summarized from his school. It was very comforting to know that our son was getting the best of the best. I cannot say enough great things about Yvonne without making her sound too good to be true. My son was so sad to learn that he was graduating from speech therapy after one year with Yvonne. He felt so empowered after each 30-minute session. My husband and I noticed that our son eventually self-corrected his speech, and would proudly announce to us that he was doing so. Yvonne is incredibly hardworking and cares deeply about her profession. It is amazing how quickly our son's speech improved within just one year. Yvonne will always hold a special place in our hearts. THANK YOU, YVONNE!

Let me start off by saying my kids did learn and excel in this program. But the director Kathy has…read moreno regard for the parents and no respect multiple times, She made unfair comments, in front of other parents. She likes to call people out when it is uncalled for. For example, being upset that one parent brought " too much birthday treats" which there is no policy on how much to bring or not to bring. During this speech she call me out saying I should not do this. Let me tell you why this was strange for her to say. My twins have summer birthdays so I had not brought in and treats. When she said this, every single parent stared at me which made things very uncomfortable. She also discussed another child to me (that was not one of my children) that was four years old and said "he would cry if his shoe was not tied" My other issues I have is Kathy calling children too emotional or over emotional mind you all these children are 3 to 4 years old. 3 to 4-year-olds have big giant emotions. Many of these children have never been away from their parents so the response to that is a normal developmental response for that age. I think that's a unfair assessment especially regarding crying at that age as so many children do now let me add. She had never said this about my children but as a parent, I don't like hearing about anyone's children at that age. It took me along time to make this review I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. But now that my children are in a school setting, where the teachers have respect do not say negative comments like that I realized how wrong that was and how many times I let things slide when I was just trying to keep the peace in thinking maybe it was me. All the other teachers here are great . Kathy herself I believe is a good teacher, but I had some very negative times interacting with her. I wish there was a review like this before I signed up for this program so I would have been aware. I did bring this up to hire management and directors more than once through the school year last year. The reason I didn't pull my children out were they were doing very well in school they made friends and the other four teachers were all fantastic.

I had a bad feeling from the beginning, but because of an emergency, I needed childcare and enrolled my son at La Petite Academy in Gold River. My son is high-functioning autistic, and I disclosed his autism multiple times during the tour and again when we completed the enrollment paperwork. On his very first day, he had one of his autistic meltdowns. Instead of working to help calm him or using strategies to support him, I received a call from the director. When I reminded her that he is autistic, she told me she didn't know, despite me sharing that information before he started. During that conversation, I was told they don't work with children like my son, and he was immediately disenrolled after his first day. Since then, I also spoke with another parent who told me she was unable to enroll her autistic son there. I was also told about an incident involving my older son, where a teacher allegedly yelled at him because the teacher's own child wanted the toy he was using. My son had said he would share it when he was finished, but I was told the teacher insisted he hand it over immediately. Every child deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and compassion. Families of children with autism deserve honesty and support--not to feel unwelcome. This was our experience, and because of it, I cannot recommend La Petite Academy in Gold River. The staff is always friendly, they communicate often, and have helped our son reach development milestones throughout the years. They also do a great job at keeping the place clean considering the amount of children.
