The amazing team at the Roseville Tutoring Center contributed greatly to my son's academic success!…read more Around this time last year, my son came to the center for tutoring in both math & reading, but mainly for support with math skills. As a 6th grade student, the diagnostic tests administered showed that he was performing at a 3rd grade level in math. He was devastated and so were my husband and I. We knew that his current school had failed him and we had just enrolled him at a private school for his 7th grade year, hoping for the best. He started tutoring right away (May through July 2025) and each day he felt more and more confident. Needless to say, this past year has been amazing, to say the least. My son has earned a 4.0 BOTH semesters of 7th grade!! He has come so far academically, and we owe a HUGE thanks to the team at Roseville's tutoring center for his success. My son said so himself, today. He said "mom, that tutoring center helped me out soooo much." So much so that he was even awarded "Outstanding in Mathematics" at his school recently. On behalf of the Cervantes family, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for our son's success and for not giving up on him. You guys helped not only boost his confidence in math, but set him up for success at a new school.

I contacted several tutoring centers in Rocklin and Roseville when deciding the best option for him. The Tutoring Center was (by far) the most welcoming, professional, and genuinely interested in helping him. The assessment process was very organized and the results and recommendations were clearly evidence-based and tailored for my son's specific needs. My son liked the tutors and they were very patient with him (he can be a little resistant to writing). Over the months, he has improved significantly in his writing skills and confidence. We will definitely use them as our "go to" source for tutoring.

A few months into Kumon and being consistent with keeping up with the packets, he has learned to make it something he just has do everyday. Eventually, getting through Kumon daily became second nature and he just does it with minimal assistance or reminding. He's currently in 2nd grade and reading long chapter books and doing 2 digits division and multiplications. My kindergarten just started Kumon a month ago and I enjoyed spending time with him to get him through the packets. Surprisingly, he hasn't complained much. He's just excited to learn how to read just like his brother. Ms. Pandya has been so patient with our family to work through some schedule conflicts. She replies promptly to emails and really helped us achieve the most benefits out of Kumon for our children. Having being at both location (Pleasant Grove and Douglas) we really like the Douglas location. Lot of shopping we can do while we wait an hour for our kids, added bonus!

With him being a covid kinder, he was delayed with his reading progress. We were amazed that in one year of Kumon 2x a week and a 20-30 minute homework packet in between center tutoring, he is now exactly on track and testing where he needs to be starting 4th grade. It's worth every penny we spent and has taught him to be disciplined with 'homework' that we now are experiencing in the 4th grade. That was a bonus.

Excellent school for my daughter with dyslexia. She attended Read from summer school before ninth…read moregrade through tenth grade. They helped her get up to grade level in reading comprehension, writing and build her confidence back as a student. She was then able to make a smooth transition into a public charter high school. The small class sizes, supportive teachers and staff and teaching style and programs specifically designed for learning disabilities was a game changer for her. My daughter is now a full time college student and I have no doubt, her time at Read was a significant part of making that possible. I highly recommend Read Academy!

After years of advocating for my son and searching for a school that could meet his unique learning…read moreneeds, we had high hopes for READ. My son made meaningful progress in reading, and I am grateful for the school's evidence-based dyslexia instruction. However, our experience also revealed important limitations for students with co-occurring autism, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges. As both a parent and an LCSW specializing in autism, I approached READ as a partner. I expected early collaboration around my son's strengths, challenges, and the strategies that had helped him succeed elsewhere. Before significant behavioral concerns emerged, I requested simple accommodations such as movement breaks and fidget tools but was told they would be disruptive to other students. To my knowledge, my son never had a proactive support plan. My experience was that my son's behaviors were addressed primarily through discipline rather than understanding their function or teaching replacement skills. As behavior logs became increasingly detailed, it became harder to distinguish meaningful concerns from age-appropriate immaturity or autism-related social differences. It was difficult to watch my son become increasingly discouraged, isolated, and unsure of how to be successful at school. Despite repeated efforts to collaborate, I saw little emphasis on proactive intervention, positive reinforcement, or identifying the function of behavior. My concern was never that READ had limits to the support it could provide, but that those limits did not become clear until the end of our experience. During our final meeting, READ told me they could no longer support my son unless he first attended a behavior program. That recommendation differed from those of the public school district and the professionals involved in his care. I was also told READ does not have a behaviorist, therapist, or behavioral specialist on staff. The end of our time at READ was especially disappointing. The focus was almost entirely on my son's challenges, with little acknowledgment of his strengths or growth. He was also excluded from the school's end-of-year BBQ as his placement ended. For autistic children, thoughtful transitions matter, and I wish his departure had reflected that he was a valued member of the community. READ can be an excellent fit for many students with dyslexia. I share my experience so families of children with additional developmental or behavioral needs can ask informed questions before enrolling, including: * How are autism- and ADHD-related needs supported? * What proactive accommodations and interventions are available? * What behavioral or mental health expertise is available on campus? * At what point does the school determine that a student's needs exceed the supports it can provide?

In the middle of his 3rd grade year, we noticed that spark in him was starting to dim. You can tell his teacher was just killing time until retirement. So we made the choice to get him extra help. He just started the 4th grade but we're continuing his tutoring. He has a 1 hour session a week and he can't wait to log on with Ms Cortney. She's very kind and patient and makes learning fun. We couldn't have asked for a better tutor.
