I think it's really a bad business practice. So if you don't cancel within 24 hours, you have to pay full price. Worst hair cut I've ever gotten. Stylist was more focused on another client during my appointment time and chopped off too much hair without asking how short I wanted it. My hair looks ridiculous now. I went to a different stylist to try and fix it but you can only do so much when it's been chopped off. Don't recommend. read more

This is a nice spa with a lot of services (down the street from Grounded where I go for acai bowls and pizza). So far I've gotten haircuts and my friends have had massages and pedicures. They like those services a lot. The first haircut I got was was professional but the stylist and I had different understandings of the maintenance I wanted from my wavy hair. It was not easy enough for me to maintain the look she created. I went back a couple weeks later and tried Rosie. This cut is quick for me to style, and makes my hair look thick and healthy. If you are looking for a master stylist and color specialist, I highly recommend Edward Gutierrez. When I moved to Las Cruces 3 years ago, I asked for recommendations for an experienced stylist who knew how to keep my red hair looking it's best. After my first visit, I knew I wouldn't go to anyone else. The color is literally gorgeous. Edward specializes in razor cuts and creates beautiful long layers with a feather razor. As an added bonus, Eddie makes me laugh and we can talk from the minute I sit down until I'm walking out the door! read more

I absolutely loved this spot! Right on Main Street, it's beautiful inside and the staff are just the sweetest folks. I was so happy with my stylist too, she was able to help me get exactly the cut I wanted, which can be risky when going short! I went to go get a hilite and cut and brought my son to keep me company. I was refused service and told I was going to be charged because he was there. I was told there is not enough room for him. I've been going there since it has opened. There is a lot of space. Im sure it's because other kids have misbehaved, but I was not told about this. Also, when I called back to complain and asked to speak with the manager, they wouldn't answer the phone, but miraculously, when my mom called, they answered. She said she must have been in the back. I felt like I was lied to on a couple of levels.i will never be back and will spread the word to not consider this place EVER because of the lack of customer service and dishonesty. Appointment was at 1pm and my service started at 1:20pm. Customer service from Nancy was terrible. I had to ask for a robe for transition into next service, should have been provided initially. Also, when I booked they mentioned a mimosa would be provided and no one offered anything. Not sure at what point it was supposed to be provided? Esthetician did not check skin before and jumped into service and did not say what she was putting on my face. Ok for a small town spa, but lacks the professionalism you find in larger city spas. read more

Paid for a 90 minute couples massage, but we only got no more than a 79 minute massage. It was probably less than that. That was just the last time we checked the clock before they came in. Our Massage therapists chose to handle incoming customers rather than attend to their current customers who would be paying for a timed service. Decent massages, but they either need to get more front desk staff or not charge for what they don't do. read more

Either they never hired someone or the person they have working the front sucks . It should not take over 10 rings to get a hold of a place to talk to someone on the phone . Mari does a wonderful job with my hair. When I first went to her over a year ago, my hair was not cut correctly by another salon...Mari patiently worked with my hair to cut it in a way to let it grow out and get it where I want it today. The salon is always welcoming and provides great service whether it's the salon or the massages. Give the salon and masseuse therapists a try! You won't be disappointed. read more

I had been to the spa downtown a few months ago and got a good color job from Charlie. When I went to rebook, I got a phone call saying that my hair was going to be done by somebody else. When I got to the salon, I was informed that all the staff had quit and opened up another salon. That should have rung alarm bells with me but it didn't. I got my hair colored and cut by a nice young woman named Jennifer Tucker. I have no quibbles with the haircut but the dye job didn't cover my gray. When I complained, they said I could come back the following week so that she could fix it. I came back less than a week later. However, whatever she did to my hair the second time turned it bright orange. Obviously, I will never be setting foot in that establishment again. Please, if you have any self-respect at all, do not get your hair dyed at the spa downtown. I wish they would have just told me what turns out to be true, that Jennifer only graduated from cosmetology school two months ago. read more

Very disappointed. Twice in a row, I've had same day cancellations. I've had great services before but as a working professional who has to arrange her schedule to make these weekday appointments, this is extremely disruptive. I would not ever do that to any other professional as their time is valuable and hurts their bottom line. An establishment that does it twice and can't accommodate a reasonable reschedule is not someone I can trust. It's a shame because the quality of the services-- when they provide them-- are good. I got an eyelash lift about 2 years ago, and they never contacted me about getting a refund. The results of the eyelash lift didn't do anything for me, it looked like I didn't get them done at all. You're better off getting eyelash extensions or strip lashes. read more

I am new to town and like many of you, use Yelp to help me figure out the best of the best. THIS IS IT! I called to make an appointment and Eduardo asked if I could come in for a consultation. I came in and before you knew it we spent the next half hour laughing and chatting it up with a tour of the spa and a clear direction of what we will do with my hair as it hasn't been touched since November from Las Vegas. Came in today and Eduardo worked his 18 yrs of experience magic and ladies (and gents) if you've never had a razor cut before, it'll change you life (and your bounce ). It is definitely two dollar signs but well worth the time and care he and the team put into making you feel like one in a million. THEY HAVE A REWARDS PROGRAM! My best friend referred me to The Spa Downtown and it was fantastic! Kara gave me a very relaxing "signature" massage and really cared about what I was looking for in my massage. Fabulous! Wonderful! Relaxing! Amazing! I wanted to pack the whole spa in my suitcase and take it back to Dallas with me!!! I was in town visiting family at Christmas and since I'm not into the wildlife, hiking thing, I spent the day at The Spa Downtown. And Sister, that was the smartest choice I made on my whole trip! Even smarter than a Loaded Blake's LotaBurger! I started with an hour long facial from Kristy the owner. She knows her stuff. It was the best facial I had ALL YEAR and this was Dec. 28th! I felt amazing and relaxed and my skin was thoroughly quenched. From there I moved on to a full body mud wrap with added scalp massage with Rebecca. This was my first time getting a mud wrap and wow it was wonderful. I was so comfortable I think I fell asleep a few times. I know I was drifting in and out. In my 30 years of body treatments there have only been a handful of times where I've felt relaxed enough to fall asleep, so Great Job!! After that, I had opted to add an additional half hour massage to the 30 minute that comes with the mud wrap. Rebecca was my masseur for that as well. I think the one hour massage was the perfect compliment to the mud wrap. I was already wonderfully relaxed and the massage was icing on the cake. Last I had shampoo and blowout - I spent all that time getting yummy lotions and potions put on my skin, I didn't want to go home and shower it all off. An invigorating scalp massage and moisture treatment with a simple blowout was the perfect way to cap off the day. A truly wonderful out of town experience. Since this was my Christmas gift from my husband, kids & mother in law, I was sparing no expense. Had I known it was going to cost so little for all of the above, I would have added everything plus the kitchen sink. The prices were fabulous. All the little essential items as well...the spa was nicely decorated, easy to find, very quiet in the spa area, carried high end products, it was clean, and provided a locked locker for my stuff while I received treatment. It's small, but the treatment rooms were excellent sizes, didn't feel cramped or closed in at all. Lighting was great, staff was VERY polite, friendly and accommodating. My mother in law booked some last minute appointments with me and she had the same fabulous experience. If you are visiting Las Cruces and want a relaxing spa day, this is your spot. It is so rare in life to find a business where you feel so welcome, so comfortable and always looking forward to going back again and again. I have been going to the spa downtown since it opened and have been with the owner for about 15 years now. Not only have I been a willing loyal customer but my family has as well. I have lived in multiple places and have yet to find a place so superb and an experience so relaxing. Anytime I am in Las cruces I make a stop at the spa downtown. The service is amazing, the staff is friendly and I have never been disappointed by my experience. There will always be changes in staff at businesses and complaints because that is just how business goes but I have never had one complaint about the spa downtown. I can whole heartedly say that I love Kristy and the spa downtown and will continue to be a loyal customer. I would encourage anyone living in Las cruces or visiting to get a service done and get a chance to feel the way I do everytime I go in. read more

I came here to get my eyebrows done. I called the same day (a Friday) and they were able to fit me in. And they did a great job on my eyebrows! I was taken to a dimly lit room and laid down on a massage table (face up) while the lady looked at my eyebrows through a lighted magnification lens so as to make sure she got all the stray hairs and to give me a great shape. She was super friendly and we had a nice conversation. The prices are a little high, however, you are getting what you are paying for which is a high level of quality. read more

Initially I decided to book an appointment with this salon for one reason, it's walking distance from my apartment. This ended up being an exceptionally happy accident because it led me to Ginger. Hands down Ginger is the best stylist I've been to since moving to New Mexico; she listens to what I want, but won't accept my every whim and help me ruin my hair. Also, I've never seen her and asked for a trim, but ended up with four inches of hair chopped off (I know most women have experienced that). The Spa itself is beautiful, stylish, and it carries a number of high end hair products that aren't widely available in Las Cruces (Kevin Murphy, Moroccan Oil, etc.). Another plus is that they offer online booking. Now, my two down sides: this business has a LOT fitted into a rather small space, so when it's busy you can feel it, and it seems like there are people everywhere. Second, Ginger has moved to AWL Studio, and as she is my favorite thing about The Spa Downtown, I will be going with her. read more

I have exhausted my patience with the Spa's scheduling mistakes and miscommunication. I was late for my appointment today (13 minutes) and was told I had to reschedule. I drive from out of town and called prior to my appointment time to communicate my schedule delay. Still they did not accommodate me. I have put up with them canceling( same day and I had made the drive)on me. I have also waited longer than 20 minutes when my provider was running behind. Also, experienced them mixing up my appointment times. It is very unfortunate that they don't value or accommodate their regular clients. Got a stylist who apparently "specializes in razer haircuts". Seriously felt like he was tearing my hair. Thought I would give it some time but if feels like I never even got a haircut. Plus he blow dried my hair with a flat hairbrush..as a person with curly hair, I left the salon looking crazy. Waste of $40. read more

Disappointment!!! The only reason I drove an hour was for the Image Skincare products. Everything else makes me break out and I'm a diehard Image fan. Walking into the spa I was not impressed with their lack of selection of Image products to purchase. During the facial there was no personalization of the facial. The light was not turned on to check my skin. She went through the motions. Rubbed my face raw. No products were recommended. The level of professionalism and expertise was lacking. When the lack of Image products was addressed they said they used a mix of Dermalogica and Image. The only Image was the lip treatment on the table. I gained nothing from this facial except a face that is currently breaking out. The massage was better but not by much. Keep your money and go somewhere else.
