If I had to use one word to describe my experience at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental it would be SPECTACULAR!! The spa is beautifully decorated, the welcome is very warm and inviting. Greeted with tea and eucalyptus infused warm hand towels. Love how fully staffed the spa is. The Massage therapists are very experienced and professional. Giselle is superb and Maria, as well. Manager, front desk and the entire staff were all very attentive. Will certainly be making more visits.

This past September, my friend and I visited the Spa at Mandarin Oriental. We both got a 90 minute deep tissue massage. From start to finish the service and our treatments were 10/10! The spa was tranquil and extremely clean. After our treatment, we enjoyed the spa amenities - steam room, sauna and showers. They had some toiletries and goodies for spa guest to take home. I found this so thoughtful and detailed. We had lunch at the Oasis Pool Cafe right outside of the spa and it was delicious! Coconut water right out of the coconut was a treat and the food + dessert was actually very good and priced well. Nothing is an after thought here. I look forward to visiting again!

5 stars all around. From the valet service to the poolside attendees and don't let me get started on the massage. The massage was top notch and worth every penny. I did get a deal with a miami spa month but I highly recommend it and it's worth it. Especially when you're able to go to the pool and lounge and enjoy the Miami sun!!! Outside of the spa everything by the pool you have to pay separately but it's absolutely OK and worth it food was divine and drinks were delicious. Definitely coming back thank you to the wonderful staff who took amazing care of me!

What's better than staying at the MO? Also having their spa experience. I really wasn't in the need for any type of massage or treatment, but I needed a color change for my pedicure. I was really happy that they were open on Fourth of July for an evening appointment. I arrived an hour early to sign off any paperwork and check out their amenities. Once I arrived, I was given complementary tea and a wet towel. The friendly receptionist gave me a tour of the facility. They had a relaxation room where you wait to be called for your treatment, the shower area, a steam room and two sauna rooms. In the locker room they had sinks, a hair station, and plenty of toiletries. The girl working there showed me my locker to where my slipper and robe was located. Once I changed out I decided to shower. Their rainfall shower is awesome. There is water coming at you from all directions. I like that you can control it though. Once I finished showering, I spent some time in their steam room and sauna. Both were great and super clean. I just wished that their sauna was a little more hotter. I made my way over to their relaxation room to wait to be called for my pedicure. In the relaxation room is plenty of comfy chairs and snacks. I munched on my blueberry yogurt covered pretzels and sipped on cucumber infused water. They also had fruit, other snacks, and other infused waters. My manicurist called my name and walked me over to their nail room. She had me choose my color out of the many beautiful chooses they had and had a sit on one of their comfy massaging pedicure chairs. She was pretty gentle and I didn't feel any discomfort. My only complaint was that she didn't use base coat and that it wasn't a full hour pedicure. Yes... she didn't use base coat. I was kinda mortified to be honest and OMG I wanted to scream. I survived though and my pedicure has been lasting for a good two weeks so far. The scrub and feet massage with lotion with amazing. My simple pedicure is usually $90 (with added gratuity and tax). I had a great time and would love to come back. I would recommend for anyone and even those not staying on the property.

The massage was great. Sauna and relax room with tea was amazing. I didn't give a 5 star bc I had to tell the workers to turn on the steam room and sauna for me and there is no indoor spa pool.

So far this is the best spa I've been in the Brickell/Downtown area, which really doesn't surprise me since the Mandarin Oriental is one of the few (if not only) true Forbes five star rated hotels in the area. Service - as soon as you walk in the staff is attending to your needs. They encourage you to get off your feet and relax from the moment you arrive to the minute you leave. Regardless of where you are in the spa - someone is nearby to offer their assistance. This really added to the feeling of "pampering". My therapist (Luis) was AMAZING! He really made an effort to confirm my issues/goals and he was attentive to my comfort levels throughout the service. Luis, as well as all the other staff were the most professional out of any spa I've been to this far in Miami. Atmosphere - the spa is beautiful! Not ornate or ultra modern, but VERY clean and cozy. The women's spa area smelled lightly of insense like in a shrine/temple - this also really added to my relaxation. My only complaint would be that the common areas are rather small, so it does get a bit loud, but I was also there at s busy time so I'm sure it's much more peaceful Sunday through Thursday. Amenities - they have the typical dry & steam sauna, only two showers and a decently - sized relaxation room. It's much smaller than Lapis spa at Fontainbleau (which is an ideal size) BUT, unlike Lapis - ALL the amenities were in functioning condition! This was great and made the limit/size not an issue at all. Not only will I recommend this to all friends/visitors going forward; I will also be visiting on a regular basis.

Breakfast by the pool before our spa treatment. Omelets and a beautiful fruit plate.

OMG. What a great experience. My friend and I enjoyed an Ayurvedic Holistic Body treatment at The Spa. Incredible. We arrived early so that we could have breakfast outside by the pool. We had omelets and the most beautiful fruit tray I have ever seen. Just beautiful. The service was great. The view was amazing. It's a nice infinity pool with an awesome view of Miami. When it was time for our spa treatment, we were greeted by a nice hostess. She showed us around, got us changed, etc. My friend and I sat in the eucalyptus steam room and then the sauna. So nice. Then it was time for our treatments. For almost two hours, I was pampered. I had a great salt scrub, followed by a pressure point massage, a scalp massage and facial. The masseuse was wonderful. She gave me advice on getting the knots out of my back. I felt that she was very thorough and took her time with me. It's a pretty spa in a beautiful setting with a very good staff. I can't wait to go back!

Getting ready for my Spa session!

As I previously stated, I continuously go to a variety of spas, for massage sessions! Although I regularly get a relaxing Swedish massage, this time I opted for an 80 min Sports massage, which included stretching and firmer pressure! My therapist was Sonia, and I highly recommend her, Bc she knows what she is doing! As a Licensed Massage Therapist myself, I tend to be a tough critic, when it comes to a good massage... So trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Finally had the opportunity visit this Five-Star Forbes awarded Spa. This Spa is a true Sanctuary and truly blew me away. Had the pleasure of going during Miami Spa month for the 50 minute massage with 3 other girl friends. If you decide to go during Spa month I highly recommend you schedule your appointment as early as possible as they get very busy during this month and later in the afternoon. My massage was at 1:00pm. I would maybe to call two weeks in advance and book a 10:00am apt. As soon as I walked in to check in they welcomed me graciously unlike any other spa I have ever experienced! They greeting me with a little tray that included a rolled up washcloth (for my hands) and infused water (to drink) pictured below. They took my shoes, gave me plastic sandals, and a wristband with the number of my locker. I then met up my friends for lunch and bubbly by the pool which was very enjoyable until 10 minutes before it was time for me to head to the relaxation room to meet my therapist. My Therapist Maria was amazing. I very fortunate & lucky to have my massage in a suite in the second floor of the spa. The suites are beautiful with high ceilings and bay view. Maria kindly asked me if I Ok with the volume of the Music, Light in the Room, and Temperature.. She then asked me to take a seat and she inquired if I had any special areas I wanted worked on and the type of pressure I enjoy. I don't think I had ever been asked that many questions before getting a massage. The 50 massage was excellent. Probably one of the best I have ever had. All of the Spa staff was very nice and polite. After my massage I was allowed to stay relaxing for a few minutes, which was amazing as I got myself together back to reality. I then hung out at the pool for a bit before showering in one of the Thermic showers with multiple jets which was fabulous!!! The locker rooms includes a few hair dryers and toiletries with was also very nice. I definitely hope to return for another delightful Spa Day!

Espa! My all time favorite!
Nisha P.

We went during Spa month & everything was perfect - except the crowd - obviously not MO's fault. They use a mixture of Espa product (which is my absolute spa fav) and their own line. The masseuse was great, perfect amount of pressure. I had the salt scrub & a deep massage. The only complaint I have is the shower in the room was more like a tap... No real jets. The relaxation room was limited to 6 chairs...although the chocolate pretzels made up for lack of space. 1 brand new shower with multiple jets and music you can control...definitely a great addition. All in all for the price I paid this month, it was great. Had I paid full price I wouldn't be happy.

This review is for the liftin facial, specifically. Prior to this experience, I've visited the Mandarin in DC and it was excellent. The facility is also nice if you spend an hour relaxing the vitality pool or steam room. The tubs are nice to enjoy before treatment. This was my first time at the Mandarin in Miami and I was disappointed. I was asked to arrive 45 minutes early before my appointment to have time to relax. Upon my arrival I was greeted by Sheila. She was courteous and very professional. She had me fill out a form, took my shoes and brought me a pair of slippers, with tea and a wet towel. She then proceeded to give a tour of the spa. Upon walking through the hallway there was strong smell of acetone. When we entered the locker room I noticed a stained towel on the floor. The facility is fairly small, two bathrooms, small locker rooms, two showers, regular sauna, a steam sauna and a relaxation area. The shower was dirty with hair from the previous person. After the use of the sauna I proceeded to the relaxation room to wait until the specialist called out my name. There are numerous beds with curtains. It reminded me of a hospital. After using the hot sauna and dirty shower I was expected to wait in the relaxation room until the specialist called my name. The attendants walk freely in and out of the relaxation room with noisy carts full of towels. This was a completely different experience from the Mandarin in DC. Now onto the facial. I had the Liftin Facial with a facialist who was supposedly one of their popular staff members, for whatever that is worth. I was initially excited to learn more about the facial massage. But this facial was so utterly boring and disappointing. The facialist didn't share any specific information about my skin through the entire facial. I'll admit that my skin is in descent shape, but it's certainly not perfect and I was hoping that there would be at least "some" feedback, discussion around my routine, or recommendations. Nothing. She literally said nothing and did not ask any questions. The entire facial consisted of her placing products on my face an wiping it off. The facial "massage" was light stroking of products (that I could have done myself, honestly). Guys, the ENTIRE time I was thinking about the serums and face oils I could have purchased for the money I was spending on this facial. At the end I noticed that instead of an 90 minutes I only received 60 minutes of a facial massage. When I asked her about the time she apologized and explained she was booked with other appointments. I asked to speak with the Manager - Marbella. She also apologized and explained that they had last minute walk in appointments and they couldn't go more than 60 minutes. This was an expensive mistake!

My eyes after the facial
Alexa W.

Maybe this will get "Zunilda" to respond to my concerns about my eyes after a facial. I understand things happen especially when working with chemicals but to not rectify the situation or even be nice about it just shows this spa is lower end.

I booed this spa via resort pass and it was an incredible deal! 60 minute aromatherapy massage, beach chair with umbrella and valet included for $265 was really a great deal! If I went directly through the spa reservation, that treatment alone would have been $260. Lyly, was the young lady who confirmed my appointment and she was also the same personnel at the front desk upon my arrival. She was extremely warm and welcoming. She then led me to Brianna, who worked the spa area and she was incredible! These two girls were a 20/10 with the exceptional service and hospitality in which they provided. The treats and teas were an added touch to the experience. My spa specialist, Marli was nice also and I did fall asleep during the treatment so she nailed it. The beach was PACKED but it was nice with excellent staff and delicious food options. Valet was efficient and friendly. Thank God it was complimentary or that would have been $50 out of pocket. If you were traveling for work and staying at this hotel, and needed a day to just forget that everyone existed, this would be great for that. My friends and I flew down from Richmond during a crazy winter storm and decided to get a day pass here among other things. The day pass included spa access during their open hours, as well as pool access. Unfortunately, because of the unseasonably cool weather, the hotel had not opened the pool which pretty much made the spa the only option for anyone else who had purchased the resort pass too, and I'm just not sure the facilities were up to that task. The spa itself had a relaxation area, which was three lounge chairs in the room with a hot tub and a cold tub. In the room next to that, there was a dry sauna, a wet sauna, and a shower. I'm not a huge fan of the dry sauna, dry heat isn't really my thing, but I did rather like the wet sauna room. It was nice and large, and the hot steamy air felt great on my poor frozen winter storm lungs. The cold plunge pool is also not my thing, but the hot tub was awesome, but it had a couple of pretty huge problems. The first was that it was up a flight of stairs. Everyone in our party has limited mobility in some fashion and One of our party uses a walker and isn't super mobile at all, so it was very difficult to actually make it to the hot tub. Might have been nice to know it wasn't actually accessible before we booked the spa. Luckily, even though she isn't super mobile, she is able to haul herself very slowly up stairs, provided it has a nice sturdy railing... Which it did have a railing... unfortunately the railing was completely loose at the bottom and not particularly sturdy since it was only partially connected. It had stone steps, and due to the nature of the room, they were a bit wet so they had nonskid stickers on them, but it had unfortunately peeled up and was mostly loose. Ultimately, our friend ended up using us as the steady banister to get up the stairs, but that probably wasn't any safer since it wasn't like we had anything to hold onto because again... slippery stairs and loose banister. We made it up safely, and then try to get in the hot tub. The tub itself is square, has a ladder railing, but we couldn't actually see any ladder steps, so we kind of had to guess where was safe to get in the pool. Being the most mobile of the group, I ended up sitting on the edge of the tub and feeling around with my feet until I figured out that the tub has three walls with stone benches around it that we could step on and get in. We only actually figured out after getting out that the pool had sunken footholds in the wall, not an actual ladder. Never would have found those getting in, but learn from our ignorance. The hot tub is awesome, the jets were great and absolutely the thing we needed after the plane flight and freezing winter storms, but everyone else felt that way too, so we were unable to get back in it again like we would have liked. We ended up heading out earlier than we intended and just sitting outside for the rest of our stay. Overall, the place is small, which makes it hit or miss as to whether or not you can use the facilities, which makes it hit or miss as to whether it is a good value for the day pass. You may luck out, or you may strike out.

They also have a Tea Ceremony at 2pm which adds to the luxury vibe. The relaxation Lounge offers a couple of complimentary nibbles (e.g. mixed nuts with dried fruit), cold water, and hot tea. Food is not allowed in the spa but there's a few options in the beautiful Eden Roc hotel, from full on restaurant, to small plates at the bar lounge or Cafe Ines for a happy medium. A word to the wise: the spa is under renovation so sometimes some of the amenities are not working (hot tub, sauna, etc). If you don't want to be disappointed make sure you call ahead and ask. I'm looking forward to see how everything looks when it's finished because the new steam room is lovely.

The other highlight was our massage experience, Eddy, my technician was extremely professional and talented, the best massage I have ever had, so thank you, Eddy! Lastly, the person who scheduled our services over email, Karla Gutierrez, who was very professional and capable. What did not work: Upon checking in, the lady at the counter (in the spa) was unable to provide a breakdown of charges and had a hard time establishing eye contact. Maybe assumptions were made, which is the only explanation I could come up with based on her behavior. Ultimately I gave up and asked for a receipt. My questions were simple, I paid in advance (a deposit) how is it applied? Do they take off the difference? Or do they reimburse and charge again? She was unable to answer. I have her name in my receipt, but I chose to omit it as anyone can have a bad day. My guest and I proceeded to compare facilities with other well known spas: Lapis at the Fontainebleau and Tierra Santa at Faena- which charge similar rates. Let me tell you, the Standard is very subpar in 1) hospitality and 2) Vibe and decor. The standard's decor is art deco and while I understand the look, the place just seemed old. There is only one station for hair drying/makeup in the locker room, the water in my shower was cold, although my guest's was fine. The Hammam stone was use for towel storage as you will see in picture. No guest is shown in the image and I decided to take the picture because I could not believe it and for this review. There was constant walking in and out of the Hammam (by the staff) to replenish, you guessed it, towels, which made the experience far from relaxing. For the price I was expecting much more. We ended up leaving early without using all the services, but we did walk to the sauna, which seemed nice, but it was super full, and the ice room, which was underwhelming. We will not return, hopefully they can give this place a make over and the staff some training.
