Over the years I've taken Highway 411 from Atlanta to my hometown of Knoxville many times, so I'm quite familiar with the best stops along the way. On a recent trip I noticed Southern Creamery for the first time and decided to give it a try...so glad I did! They offer fresh sandwiches, pastries, and ice cream; it was mid-afternoon so I opted for a fall latte and homemade donut and both were excellent. It's a small place but has a great cozy vibe befitting a local coffee shop, and the service was very friendly. Highly recommended. read more

honestly this was very underwhelming. I was so excited to visit but we left not wanting to come back. It wasn't well staffed for the amount of people - which I understand - but worth mentioning. The people in front of me were told there was no breakfast sausage left and they needed to get bacon. When I came up to order they allowed me to order breakfast sausage on my sandwich. I tried to order one of the special drinks, and then paid for my order. AFTER we paid I was told they had no chai left at all. I tried to order another special drink (bc I paid for one) and tried to order it decaf bc I don't like a lot of caffeine but they were out of that too. I wasn't offered a refund so I just ended up getting a caffeinated drink that gave me a stomach ache. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and the bagel came cold??? His egg and sausage were warm but the bagel was cold and made the sandwich essentially inedible. My croissant sandwich was good - though I had to split it with my husband so he had something other than meat and egg. We waited so long for our drinks and food, and that's fine if it's worth it?? But it was not. While we were waiting a lady came in and ordered a couple to go orders and had to come back bc she was missing an entire order. The inside was so small, homey! but it was a small area, I felt like I was sitting with the other tables. It honestly was a ridiculous visit and as much as I want to try more I don't think I'll spend the money on that experience again. Stumbled into this little gem totally by accident. What a delight. I need you to relocate to the south side. The entire ambiance of this little bakery was cozy, welcoming and warm. They make their own ice cream. The Cannoli was OFF THE CHARTS. They rival the cannoli I've had in Italy. The doughnut are beautiful fluffy and delicious. We also got a chocolate chip biscuit. Yummmm. Driving through town on our way to NC and luckily enough for us, they were still open on Xmas Eve. The place is so adorable I wish I lived near by, I would be a regular!!! The staff were super friendly and helpful in making the best choices for us. We had the chicken salad on their homemade biscuits (warmed as well) was delicious, Like mom made!! We bought pastries to go I know they will be just as great. I would imagine the ice cream is even more amazing. Next time!!! read more

Home made baked goods and Ice Cream.....HOME MADE ICE CREAM!!! This stuff is fantastic! Small on the outside but huge on quality and flavor. Have not tried the biscuits and gravy but plan on fixing that pretty soon. Everyone in the place was super friendly and helpful. They really seem to care about the food and what they do! great small town atmosphere in side with a nice back room for eating or just hanging with a coffee and goody from the assortment of home made loveliness!!!! Found this cute spot on our travels North. We needed a little something and we were pleasantly impressed with the quality of the breakfast sandwiches. Everything bagel with quality cheddar cheese and a breakfast burrito hit the spot!! Had to try something from their pastry case and blueberry biscuit it was. Very buttery and light with a sweet glaze, delightful!! We'd definitely go back if we ever pass that way again!! read more

Driven by this place many times. Now that I have tried it my heart weeps for all the missed opportunities at food nirvana before. The smell that hits you as you enter is fantastic! Fresh baked goodies and home made ice cream!! I got the Banana Pudding and Valerie got the same with a scope of Chocolate. Some of the best I have ever had! Nice and soft like homemade should be. We also got strawberry cheesecake.....I got the goosebumps!!! Awesome cheesecake. I then got a concoction of a glazed donut filled with sweet cream cheese and strawberries....again....to die for. My husband and I found this little gem when we were out on one of our motorcycle rides. We like to plan ride routes that take us through a combination of curving mountainous roads and beautiful rural country side, which brought us through Fairmont, GA. It's a small town full of hard working good people who understand the meaning of great ice cream, delectable handmade pastries, and delicious coffee in an unassuming environment. Whenever we go on our rides we look for local run coffee shops; we aren't a fan of the corporate run shops like Starbucks that don't provide personalized service and prefer to support small business. The Southern Creamery makes all their ice cream and pastries in-house and they do it wonderfully! On our visits we have found the girls running the shop to be warm and friendly, and they have never failed to make a perfect cup of latte. You can stop there as early as 6:00 am and pick up a fresh, hot breakfast sandwich or pastry or go as late as 6:30 pm for dessert and coffee, which we consider a bonus. So many of the smaller coffee shops close by 3 pm at the latest, so we love that this shop stays open later. They have a nice sitting area inside, which is bigger than you think from looking at the shop from the outside, and clean restrooms (which I appreciate). I encourage you to give this a try, and if you see us on our motorcycles along the way, be sure to wave! read more

Fantastic home made ice cream made by the family that runs this comfortable little shop. The single scoop of cookies and cream that I got was very generous in size and did not scrimp on the Oreos. Service was friendly and quick. They also have lots of good looking pastries, plenty of coffee drinks, as well as breakfast items. Love, love, LOVE this place. Small and cozy. Amazing cheesecake but you can't go wrong with any of their fabulous cookies, cakes and baked goods. They also have great NY style bagels and great coffee, cappucino, etc. The staff is friendly and engaging too.
