I was just trying to get a burger on a bit of lettuce and tomato. Evidently their burgers have gluten in it, which should be a concern for everyone because that means they're not all natural. The manager then tried to offer a grilled chicken and lettuce, but I wasn't willing to take the chance at that point because I had already been told that they don't have any protocol for cross contamination. It is literally the only restaurant in town so if you're coming to Anescuel with celiac disease, you will definitely need to have an Airbnb or figure something else out! I was sorry to have to go next-door to the small market and buy a few slices of ham gluten-free bread and a bottle of mayonnaise just so I could survive walking the Camino Kerry. The manager said they have a small kitchen, but there's always ways to accommodate. I hope the owner sees this and makes a better effort. I'm available for consultation if needed! I operate a major league baseball barbecue stand and we successfully feed thousands of people every year safely. It's not hard. It just needs to have a process. If they weren't literally the only restaurant in town, I would have been more gracious with this review , but they're definitely missing an opportunity! Gluten-free people in groups usually pick the restaurant!

Murphy's is very much a locals' pub. It has to be. It's in the middle of nowhere in a small town on the coast of Ireland! It's a place to meet your neighbors, or in our case, the people who live in the town we were staying in for the weekend. The town of Brandon is a beautiful place, and the people you'll meet have probably lived there their entire lives, so everyone knows each other and is (as is typical) friendly as can be. You won't find anything special at Murphy's - except if you're there on a live music night. But you'll enjoy yourself, and if you're in Brandon you won't have many other options!
