I have been going to this store since 2010 for many reasons that include good customer service,…read moregood quality items, and no matter what I know that I will always be taken care of. It's obvious that the owners Cam and Elise are passionate about what they do and that shines through in every interaction you have with them. Cam, the co-owner/bike mechanic not only does an exceptional job but is always thinking outside of the box. I think without him, I might have had to buy a new bike and lost a very very sentimental bike to me if he did not have this ability. I've read the other reviews for this store and I can comment and add to: pricing of gear: we all know that the prices of gear are expensive. This shop isn't large so it is limited in what it can bring in. If you want a 1000 choices, this isn't the shop for you. They have to be strategic in what they are bringing in and while their goal is to give a variety of price options, what they won't compromise is quality even if that means, at times, there is only a pricey option. I appreciate that as I would rather spend a bit more than spend, in the end, the same amount buying the same thing five times because it fell apart. Customer service / judgment of customers: it doesn't happen, they don't judge you on your appearance. If they say something is very expensive that is just part of the dialogue they are having with you and not them judging you on your situation. Projecting your insecurities onto business owners isn't going to get anyone, anywhere. I do understand that there are some stores that do that but I've seen them interact with people with limited means to people with a lot and they treat everyone the same. To me good value for a store like this is good customer service, excellent bike maintenance/knowing my bike will always be taken care of, honesty, and a balance of very good quality and price. I'm not a person that can buy a carbon fiber bike for example but I know there are many other options for me. You can't go wrong shopping here but you can take your chances elsewhere if you choose. There are some good other shops....and there are many that aren't.

I mentioned I was looking for a good place to get my Road Bike serivced as I had a big ride coming up. He mentioned Element. I went there and from the time I walked in the door 2 years ago to now. I would highly recommend them. Elise and Cam are so informed and Knowledgeable. Elise not even knowing me, and in talks of my ride and possible inclement weather offered to me a Rain Jacket ; no charge and trust I would be back- as I was ordering a special one they did not carry. Came in handy as weather one day of ride was Wet; Windy and single digits. What other shop would do this. Cam also is second to none in his knowledge and ability on the mechaincs of the BIkes. I have had mine set up at times from other shops - who are good, but always something not quite right. Toke them to Cam and top notch. and Reasonably priced. Did not over sel on parts not needed as one shop did it still did not have set up. I am into second season on the one bike with now close to 1000km and everything is perfect still. Cam and Elise also take the time and like to talk to a person. I could go on, but as you can see, I am Happy with Element and Highly Recommend them.

The Running Room is a great Edmonton success story. The business was founded right here in our…read moreregion and has now grown to be an international store so this makes me really happy to support them. The Running Room carries brand name clothing, shoes, as well as running accessories. They also hold running clinics throughout the year which is a great way to meet people with similar interests and abilities to your own. The St. Albert location is just off the main road (St. Albert trail) beside a 7-11 in a very dated building. As old as the building looks on the outside it feels older on the inside. It is dark and dingy even in the middle of a sunny afternoon. There is also only one change room so if there are multiple people wanting to try clothes on it can take a while. I find that this location has a smaller selection of items than are offered at other stores. I also think they don't get many sizing in for each product, so lots of times items are only available in really really big or really really small. In general I find the items are on the more expensive side; with every clothing item over $50 your money won't go very far. When I was in on the weekend the staff were very unhelpful - there were two young girls who were chatting at the till area while I wandered around for 20+ min. When I approached them about something they answered with the quickest response and pointed to the corner where the items were that I needed. The major positive about this location is the proximity to the Sturgeon River. This is the perfect location for running as all of the gorgeous trails in St. Albert are linked by the one that runs along the river. This gives the running clinics multiple options for trails, adding variety to their programs.

I ordered a Parka, as a gift, from MEC's online Black Friday sale on November 29, 2024. Having…read morebeen in the Edmonton south common store a few days before, and observing many in stock, the deal was too good not to order. As I placed my order, it indicated that the downtown store was "Next Day Pick Up". Given that I wanted to pick up as soon as possible, I selected the downtown store, even though the location is terribly inconvenient for me. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. I've been a supporter of MEC for over 25 years, and have never seen such awful customer service or a absolute lack of responsibility in fulfilling an order - for that matter, I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing exchange with any store, ever, than this experience. I will never again shop at MEC. Shame on you, MEC. Not the MEC I once knew
