I'm glad I was able to find this venue at such a convenient location with a great deal. Their package consisted of many things for such a great price. They allowed me to have full creative control from the table layout, the uplighting color, and the cocktail menu. They were easy to talk to, the Shelby venue was spacious, and I had an incredible time celebrating my 21st birthday. I was just curious if I wanted a venue party. During the first meeting, we had a tour and Layton was very informative and helpful. I didn't secure a downpayment yet but I had an idea on the date. A few days later, he told me that someone else was interested in the date, and I didn't want it to get taken so we secured it the next week. I'm glad he knew about my interest and decided to tell me about it. Leading up to the event, our only main form of communications was e-mail and through text with their company's line. Monday evenings were the only times to walk-in and check out the venue for anything/questions. I work every Monday evening so I couldn't make it to any of the walk-in days so I had a friend come there on my behalf to take pictures, submit the rest of the deposit, test out the projection for the birthday signage, and ask any questions/concerns. I think that was my only issue is the availability for me to come in prior to my event. Other than that, there's only one public bathroom for my ~150 guests, but they still enjoyed the night. The bartenders were very sociable with my guests and was quick with their work. I was more captivated by the venue space and the package. The venue had that "upscale nightclub" theme and vibe I was looking for and it wasn't somewhere with heavy traffic like DTLA. It was in the heart of my hometown in Carson and I was able to have my hometown friends, family, and college friends from Orange County to come by. I got the package for the Shelby venue which fits my budget. The team was easy going, they were able to accommodate my ideas with having custom-made cocktails for my event, and the documents with all the FAQs was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this space if you're considering having a venue party that can have a classy, eloquent feel or a trendy nightclub atmosphere.

Came here last friday for the Yelp CMYE and here it is.... -YES YES YES the venue looks nice and yea it's nice for being in Carson, but are clubs not supposed to look nice on the inside? If you saw this club in Hollywood you would not think it anything spectacular....in fact you would probably call it a lounge and not a nightclub. -DRESS CODE is supposed to be upscale/trendy but there was a girl in there with flip flops?? Also later in the evening there some unsavory charactors dressed in ridiculously baggy clothing that were let in.... -The place was virtually empty aside from the yelpers who stuck around and a fairly rowdy bachelorrette (bday?) party. Clearly some work needs to be done on their promoting to get a good crowd in there. I have faith that will happen as a number of people I spoke to after said they recieved a flyer but weren't sure if it was worth going. -The DJ.....there were two of them and nether played a song for longer then 30 seconds (and 30 seconds was if we got lucky). -The table server girls and bartenders were SPECTACULAR and really made my night! I wish I could remember the name of our specific server because she was just awesome. I also heard the servers were randomly giving folks free shots which I think is pretty cool. -I cannot believe THEY CHARGE A COVER! Seriously if I paid a cover for this place I would probably shed a tear. -oh and THERE IS A SIGN EVERYONE!! However, it was definitely not lit up when we first arrived. All that said I would probably still give this place another chance if they had someone I KNEW was a good Dj (i.e. when they had Dj Feli fell their opening weekend). It is atleast a place where if you brought a great group of friends you could still have a good time. I think this place has a lot of potential just hasn't reached it yet.

I just had my 50th birthday party at the SOL Venue and I had an excellent experience with the team there. I reserved early because the weekend of my party is quite popular and I was so happy to be able to get this venue on my actual birthday. I have to say they handle their business pretty well, from the contract process, payments, and they have documentation to answer almost all of your questions. When I did have questions the staff was easy to reach and very responsive. The team is also very accommodating. The night of my event everything went so well, people loved the venue, and they especially loved the bartender's. It's the perfect spot for a party, and they have a good air conditioning system. If you're looking for a venue to throw a nice party in a club like atmosphere this is an excellent venue.

My party was booked at the Shelby, but still within the same company I can not really sum up in words how thankful I am for this venue! First and foremost, thank you so much, Mr.Layton, for all your help and work in making sure my husband enjoyed his 35th birthday! Your team was so amazing and made certain things ran smoothly for the night! Thank you so much, Malik, for all your help as well. If you're looking for an excellent venue, work, plentiful parking, great space, and staff, look no further! The Shelby is the place to be and book! Thanks again, and I can't wait to book my next party!

I actually rented "The Shelby Venue" this past weekend unexpectedly due to weather and i came across the venue on Peerspace and instantly fell in love and knew this where I need to have my niece party and I was so nervous about making everything fit and Tyler reassured me it will and she was so helpful the owner came in he was very polite and all my guest was impressed on how good the event turned out they was interested on booking this space and my niece party was exactly what we envision can't wait to the next event and thanks again Mr. Draper and Miss Tyler on providing excellent ser

Super intimate setting for acoustic set! It was my friend Grecia's first set and it was amazing! Really nice bar, they even had nachos and bomb quesadilla's! Highly recommend coming here to destress after a long week! We came here on a Thursday night after a few meetings and school in Long Beach.. so nice to chill and listen to some good roots music! SOL needs to be put out there more in the scene of venues.

Been to SOL Venue many times now, for concerts, shows and just to have a drink, and no plans on stopping any time soon. Its always a good time! I recall a pleasant surprise when i first stepped in, they keep it clean and classy. The staff there is always great, friendly and professional. The drinks are average priced (although I do recall some $1 beers till 10 nights) but always made right by the any one of top notch bartenders. Its nice to have a place like SOL, so close in distance where I can watch so many great bands and artists in such close "intimate" setting. Oh, and their Reggae Thursday's are so irie and the vibes are always nice! Keep them good shows coming, SOL Venue!!! read more

Went to go see Marcus Houston here last month and it was AWESOME! The show itself looked and sounded incredible, it was like going back to the glory days for R & B for the first time all over again. Not to mention the bar staff and security were very knowledgeable and professional. We partied all night without any trouble whatsoever or spending too much money. I never had to wait to use the Restroom with 250+ people at the show!! Fantastic bathrooms! I'll definitely be back in the future. Never felt stuffy over all I would highly recommend this place especially a local gem, and what's even better Is we don't need to drive all the way to Hollywood to see a great show! read more

One of the smallest venues I have been to and of course it is packed with bodies standing up. They had a little VIP section but that area was also backed with bodies. I came to a concert some months ago and if you were in the back you could not see. We had to force our way to the front to see Eric Bellinger perform. They have screens on the wall but the did not film his performance. Parking is free, we parked across the street and walked over. They have a dress code which was weird to me, it is not a club but they do not allow sandals inside. I would come back depending on who is performing. read more

Hosted my best friends baby shower here. The staff is SOOOOOO helpful and made everything easier than expected. They need to increase their prices. This is flippin' robbery - feelin like Jesse James up in here robbin these guys. If you don't do your special event at SOL - you should probably never be allowed to select a venue again because you just failed the event test miserably. read more

2 stars because, there was a cover charge and it's small. Music was pretty good. Pretty decent for a strip mall in Carson. The crowd was a bit cholo-ish but there were no fights or beginnings of fights or any drama. Over all, I had a good time. read more

The staff is friendly and drinks are decent. They have a nice array of music. The only thing I would change would be the live performances. I wasn't too enthused by the performer on July 24, 2015. The DJ wasn't bad and although the place is quite small , The dance floor is still a decent size. read more

I highly recommend using this venue for an event. The staff is 1000% professional and friendly. They answered any and all questions extremely fast. This place is a hit or miss spot. Sometimes it's great and other times it's pretty empty. The location might throw you off due to the fact that it's in a shopping center. Yet, once you get inside...it's very nice and hip. I love the fact that it's local, free parking and no cover charge. The only thing I didn't care for is their DJ's since they don't play a song longer than 1 minute. The staff (security) is very nice, always making sure spills are cleaned up and removing unused items from your table. The bottle service on the other hand is not the best, we had to keep getting up to ask our waitress for refills for our juicers. The bottle service price is affordable. The ladies room is clean. This place is good to go in groups, we had a blast because we had our own crowd, party! read more

Hello! This Venue and staff deserve a great review! First, there are two venues side by side-The Shelby and The Sol! I found this venue through an app on Facebook that I had been searching for months called Splacer! When I came across this venue, I contacted them and asked if I could come in and view the venue! The moment I arrived, I was greeted and welcomed with open arms and given the tour of both facilities! BOTH WERE SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! I then moved forward with booking my baby shower/gender reveal in October of 2018 for the event in March 2019! With this company and venue, you HAVE to book early because the available days go FAST! I paid my deposit to reserve my day and from that moment everything was such a smooth ride with The company! They give you MUCH time to pay off your remainder balances before the actual event-if that's what you choose, they are in constant communication with you-answering whatever questions you have or helping you in anyway possible, they stay on top of sending you the contract, house rules, etc. and they are just very consistent and organized! My event recently just passed and everything was so BEAUTIFUL and such a SUCCESS! I could not have chosen a better venue and staff! Thank you To The Shelby Gallery, The Sol Venue and the Omens Group! Drove 2 hours to see my friend perform last night. The show itself was amazing but the staff were not very nice. I was on the artist's list but was told a list was never submitted, and the venue was closed unless I had a ticket. I felt like they just said that to be petty but whatever. Eventually was let in the back then security came back in and told us we had to go back out the front to be patted down. I understood that but, again, I felt like they were just doing that to be petty, and that was confirmed when we got outside, they patted down my fiancé, then told us again that we couldn't get in because we weren't on a list. Eventually the name of one of our friends magically comes up on the list that was never submitted, and they let us in but by then we were only able to catch the tail end of the show. Very annoying and disappointing. read more

Hello everyone! Tre from The Bredren here! So we are "that" band - Not sure who Chuck C is but, Sol Venue is actually a pretty cool spot - What happened was unfortunate but it was really no big deal! Ralph at Sol Venue was excellent to work / speak with. He was very "flexible" for The Bredren. We apologize that we were cut a tad short! We really appreciate everyone that came out to see us! All of my friends loved the feel of Sol Venue, It has a great vibe! IPA's! The bartender was excellent / speedy service I ended up forgetting my backpack with my IPad & other items - Sol Venue held it for me till I returned for it! If you're looking for a place with the best live music entertainment, you have found it. SOL definitely exceeded my expectations of a music venue in Carson. This place is a hidden gem. It is an excellent place to hold a birthday party or another celebration. From the outside you can't tell how fabulous the location is. Once you walk inside you're pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to host a party at SOL Venue. Brock, who's a manager at the venue, is extremely professional, all the while making you feel right at home. He's a super communicator and very accommodating. This is definitely my top recommendation when looking for a venue for your event. It's clean and well staffed. The bartender/ manager, I think his name was James or Jordan. Anyways, he was so quick with the drinks! Overall a great experience! read more

Been here a few times. The location isn't the best to be at, especially for a group of girls. The inside is very nice tho. the music is ok, but not worth paying $10 to get in for where it is located. Have had a few issues. One of my friends was charged twice on her card . And the other issue was when one of the bartenders was being yelled at in front of the bar by a manager. It was a bit of an awkward feeling so we left. NIce place but not enough to make it a regular stop. read more

I feel SOL venue is one of the best places in the Southbay to host any event. I went with SOL because they offer packages that range in price depending on your needs which made hosting my sisters baby shower in a venue possible. Also, the location was in a perfect location which made it possible for all our friends and family to attend. This saturday I hosted my sisters baby shower and I have to say everything ran smoothly, the Dj had an awesome playlist that kept our event very upbeat, and I received plenty of help from the employees at SOL to help set up the baby shower. We were also allowed to use my friends catering company at no extra charge from the venue. SOL venue was my lifesaver whilst planning my sisters baby shower, everything ran smoothly and I recommend this venue to anyone that is interested in hosting a graduation party, birthday party 21+ or live bands. read more

Not sure what girls are supposed to wear, but the manager had told my girl that she needed to change her shirt?!?! It was basically a black top with lace, and yeah... Then they want to charge $10.00 for entrance... In Carson??? I Don't think so. We were hoping to support the local business, but with that, won't be happening. It was around 10:30PM when we left the spot Saturday night, and not a single person was in the joint. Horrible service, $10.00 cover (in Carson? This definitely isn't Hollywood) Not sure what drink prices were, since we didn't get to get in. I'd never come back, nor would I recommend anyone come to this spot. I'd rather spend $40.00 to get into a Hollywood joint plus $20 for parking. "Upscale" spot in Carson... Get outta here with that. read more

Wow! Came here for my aunts birthday celebration tonight. This place is absolutely beautiful, I am absolutely booking my next birthday here. The staff is amazing- sooooo friendly and the bartenders are hilarious! They have jellyfish at the bar! You would not expect this to be in Carson but my lord when I walked in my jaw dropped. The sound system is amazing as well, no idea how this place would get a bad review! I suppose everyone can have an off day but I would give this place 12 stars if I could!!! read more

Special thanks to DJ Fluffy for letting me know about this place. Place was a nice size venue and had a great musical performance. They have some interesting specialty drinks that are well worth the price. Bartenders and everyone that works there are all friendly and helpful. I finished the beer and ordered a small beer but I started feeling really dizzy during this time. And not from drinking. If you've ever been roofied you know this exact feeling. Things are moving slower. You're spinning. You don't have full control. And you could pass out at any second. Thankfully I got home but it continued in a shower I took to try and wake up, but that didn't work. On my sofa I passed out. And woke up the next day still not feeling good. Still needing to lay down and needing more sleep. Another night passed where I slept early. Like I was knocked out. And today, Friday I finally felt like it was all out of my system. And this all happened because I went to Slip. This is not a fluke. It was not an accident. It happened to me and it can happen to you too. It can happen anywhere maybe, or maybe not. But what's for sure is it happened to me there. If you're with Slip and you're reading this, do not try and make me an offer to return. I won't. Ever.

Last night I had the time of my life. Chante' Moore was fantastic along with AsIz and Bella. Great Music Venue with such a incredible sexy , elegant decor. Definitely the South Bays hidden treasure and premier intimate up close and personal Venue in all the South bay. You can also rent this Venue out for private events at a Extremely reasonable price. Brock who is the Beverage and Special events manager, is a warm and personal soul who insures you a experience that is guaranteed to go off without a hitch. This Venue is becoming an experience which is bringing in artist you might find at a huge Venue, but with artist who are continually appreciating the small an up close and personal connection that they are finding with their fans who they allow to come along for the ride as they determine and gage both their music and shows while giving back. Thank you "Sol Venue" , Al B Sure ! , Chante' Moore and Eric Bellringer and I hear the entertainment is going to get bigger and better. This club was definitely a surprise lmao. When I first moved to California i came here, about three years ago and it was terrible! I vowed never to go back, but about a week ago I got invited to a party, and I went... Reluctantly. They must have gotten a new management team or something, because this club is crazy now! The new sound system was crystal clear, servers were way more friendly, and the place was way safer this time around, seems like they cracked down on a lot of stuff. Bartenders were pretty cool, got a free drink so i'm happy. (They also had this little blue drink with a damn rubber ducky in it, I forgot what its called, but dont let the bright colors fool you, if you drink one of these too fast, you're likely to wake up the next day with no memory of all the dumb stuff you did like me.) All in all, I felt like i needed to post a dope review since it made such a turn around. I definitely recommend it for a little weekend fun. Good stuff sol... Good stuff... We celebrated my mother's 60th bday yesterday. Unbelievable service from the staff. Our total fee to rent the venue included everything imaginable. We got all we expected and more for HALF the price of another venue we inquired about in Long Beach. Great location and easy access off the freeways for all our family in Long Beach/South Bay/LA. Great event and I will absolutely be sending everyone I know to this venue for their events. We were allowed to decorate as we see fit, though we did very minimal, as the venue is beautiful as is. They even booked a live band for us as well that did virtually every cover you can imagine, and the sound system was awesome! SOL Venue made my mother's bday one she will never forget, she was crying tears of joy. The very first time that I had gone to Sol it was to see Shwayze. I had never been to this venue before and did not know what to expect. Right when I walked in I knew the night was going to be a great one! The venue is the perfect size for a concert because no matter where you are standing from you are able to see the stage. We ended up getting bottle service and the table was right next to the stage and the service was great! Brock who is one of the managers at Sol made sure that our table was taken care with great service and everything went so smoothly. I really appreciated him coming over and checking up on our table. We had so much fun that we have already reserved a table for the next concert that we will be going to in a couple of weeks! Went here last weekend and I absolutely love everything about it. The atmosphere is so welcoming and inviting, the staff are so generous and the event coordinator was so helpful with everything- even got to try the private label beer! Really good music and over all great vibes. I also love the small intimate venues, no matter where you are it feels like you're with the band! Such a shock to find something like this in Carson. Usually you have to drive 25 minutes to Hollywood to get ignored by your bartender/server. It's a nightclub with a lounge appeal and a huge dance floor. Service is quick and friendly. The staff genuinely seemed like they were enjoying being there. Drinks are strong and no Hollywood pricing here. Bathrooms are really quirky, you'll see what I mean when you go. Music at the right volume so you can converse. The venue is perfect for intimate concert lovers. I visited the spot with my cousins from out of town. We came to watch Eli-Mac perform last Friday night and had such a good time. Nothing but great vibes from begging to end. No hassle at the door. The door host was actually very friendly and directed us to the smoking patio once we arrived. We had the chance to enjoy a good drink at the bar from Sonny (You're the man!) and watch some local bands before the main act. When Eli-Mac went on, the girls and I went crazy! Perfect Venue! I had my husbands 40th birthday party here. Brock was amazing to work with. It is a hidden gem in Carson with plenty of parking, even was able to leave my car over night. I was able to come in early to decorate and bring my own caterer and DJ. All my guest had a great time. The place was clean and had lounge couches and small tables , so you really don't need much, although I was able to rent some cocktail tables with stool to have more seating available. Brock made cute personalized drink menu, perfect touch! The drinks are reasonably priced and stocked bar with requested items. SO MUCH FUN. Went here for the first time last weekend for my sisters 21st. This place is the reason I even made a yelp account! They even gave my sister a comp'd bottle for her bday (guess she knows a good promoter). They just had us pay gratuity to the bottle girl, (who was so great I tipped her extra on top). I had to make a yelp just to review this place! I came here on a whim for my cousin's bday last Friday, and I really don't like going out too much anymore. I had a blast. Everything was awesome, from the DJs to the drinks. (Not to mention I fell in love with the blonde bartender- Laura I think?) OMG!!!! Free2bmee hosted a Tasteful Tuesday's Open mic on Feb 16th. It was sooooo DOPE! 90's love jones rendition was the theme. The live band was amazing, and the singers and poets were inspiring. Not to mention the DJ, the bar, the crowd, and the TACOoooooos were FIRE! You cant beat that type of local entertainment!! The whole vibe was something to remember, and nothing that you would forget! I heard Through The Roots were in town and I had to come see them perform in Carson. There is no other music venue in the South Bay where I would rather see them perform than at SOL Venue. I needed to film a music video at a cool venue and found Sol on peerspace with reasonable prices and spoke to the owner Brock who was very nice and accommodating. As soon as we arrived he showed us around and asked if there was anything we needed and let us have full assess to the bar and stage area.
