There really isn't much to write about a liquor store other than 3 key things: selection, service,…read moreand price. I feel like with my unique experience here, this location killed it in all 3. I was looking for something specific, Black Raspberry Cîroc. I was talking with my local liquor store in Nampa, they told me they only knew of 2 locations in Idaho that received shipment (and by shipment I mean 1 bottle...), this location being one of them. I called this place up, the woman working knew EXACTLY what I was looking for and put the ONLY bottle they had on hold (without me even asking). I was already in the area (was doing some shopping nearby), so I hurried down to pick it up. Right when I walked in, I asked the woman working (which was the woman I spoke on the phone with) for Black Raspberry Cîroc, and her only response was "Are you George...?". From then on out, I knew I had to write a review for this place, just to spotlight the loyalty of her. I'm confident that she would've held it for me if someone else came through looking (of course unless I didn't come by within a respectable time period). I literally spent less than a minute in there, in and out is what I like, primarily because it's super hard to NOT to get tempted in there (or any of these magical stores in general). The plan is to never visit this or any of the other liquor stores again (one of my New Year Resolutions) but knowing that this was my resolution last year as well, I feel like there's a high chance I will be back. Overall the selection, service, and price were A1. Nothing comes to mind in terms of improvement, other than Diddy shipping more Cîroc to Idaho. Everyone who tried it loved it, felt nice bringing something unique to our holiday get together. 5 stars ALL day EVERY day, much thanks to the woman working (I regret NOT asking her for her name).

A quick google of liquor sales in Eagle informed us that like our current home state of Oregon, liquor can only be purchased in state run stores in Idaho. (As the good people of Washington state now know, there are advantages to the state run system. See This n That. ;-)). Made our way to this Eagle liquor store (one of two in the city) with about ten minutes to spare before their 8pm weekday close time. Spacious store. Nice selection of gin and other adult beverages. Delightful, friendly young woman behind the counter who being only 19 couldn't offer us any advice on whether the local distillery gin that was on the shelf with others was good. In Idaho you can sell liquor when you're 19 although you can't buy it until you're 21. Go figure. We bought a favorite gin, price was a couple of dollars less in Idaho than we'd pay in Oregon, a bottle of tonic and we were good to go. We'll be back when bourbon season rolls around. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Street parking right in front of store was easy to find. I think there is also a lot in back. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in at door and throughout. 3) HOURS: Closed Sundays I think. (Although there are other liquor stores in the area that are open Sundays.) Mon - Thu 10a - 8p. Fri - Sat 10a - 9p. 4) POLITICAL RAMBLING - STATE RUN ADVANTAGE (?): I am a life long, card carrying Capitalist and on the face of things it might have seemed like a good idea to me too, were I still a WA state registered voter as I once was, to get the State out of the liquor sales business. A couple of years ago when the good people of Washington state passed measure 1138 to privatize liquor sales, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to observe since we keep talking about putting a similar measure on Oregon's ballot. Alas, what has happened is that liquor prices have gone up, in some cases WAY up, in Washington state post 1138. Folks drive to Oregon, across the border from Vancouver into Portland for example, to buy booze since it is lower priced here at our State run stores. As illustration, Portland area liquor sales have gone up dramatically since WA passed 1138. Another example is a liquor store that opened up in Kootenai County Idaho, right across the border from Spokane Washington. Since 1138 passed in Washington state, that Kootenai County Idaho liquor store has had an astronomical increase in liquor sales, thanks to folks making the less than 30 minute drive from Spokane to get there, and is now among the highest grossing liquor stores in the state of Idaho based on a recent revenue report. Politics can be enough to make you drink, don't you think? For now I'm thinking if Oregon did float a ballot measure, like Washington's 1138, to privatize liquor sales while I'm I still voting here I'd toast to "NO" looking at what's happened to our neighbors to the north.

Happenstance! We…read morewere leaving a bakery in Caldwell and were driving down the boulevard when we discovered Mexico Chiquito Taqueria. I immediately flipped a U-Turn and parked in a parking space. I walked up to the brightly lit truck/ trailer and placed an order for a Carne Asada burrito - It was $14.00 - seemed a spendy at the time but everything is more expensive now. I was handled a beeper pager and went back to my car and practiced some DuoLingo. About 10 minutes later, the beeper started beeping and I walked back to the trailer. The team was so nice. We chatted about different salsas and the weather. I noticed how hefty the weight of the to go container as I walked back to the car. I passed the order to my wife who was very surprised as to how heavy it was. She opened it to to go container and was stunned to see not a burrito but a log that looked like a burrito. This burrito was one of the largest burritos I have ever seen. Massive is an understatement. Obviously, she didn't finish it in the car and honestly, it took her three days to finish it. I wish I had turned on the lighting in the car to take a picture of this log of a burrito but didn't get a chance. It just means that we will have to go back.

The birria & carnitas tacos were definitely the standout, super flavorful and easily my favorite of the bunch. They came with consommé, which was flavorful, but the consistency is a little different than what I'm used to at other spots. The al pastor and carne asada both had really good flavor as well. The meat leaned a bit more cooked/harder than I personally prefer, but still very tasty. One thing that caught me off guard was not seeing options for sides or add-ons like grilled onions, rice, or refried beans, which I usually see offered. It just felt a little different from what I'm used to, but the tacos themselves carried the meal. Prices were slightly on the higher side, and the wait was a bit longer than usual, but they were clearly busy and working through a lot of orders, so it's understandable. Overall, a good spot with flavorful tacos -- especially the birria, which I'd absolutely order again.
