There is typically a lot across the street that can be open for parking, but I am not sure about the future of that as it was closed recently. They only have a few spots behind the building and those fill up in a blink. Service: never had a bad experience. Fast and friendly! Food: my husband and I have cycled through a wide variety of their flavors and I don't think I've ever had a bad one. Every single one is incredibly creamy and delicious. I haven't tried many of their alcoholic flavored ones to be honest, but the lemon flavors are always great, he gets Marky Mark and the crunchy Bunch and that is incredible. I enjoy their lavender berry with a scoop of the lemon, both excellent together. My grandma always gets any of the chocolate flavors and she just says it's some of the best ice cream she's ever had and she's 93! Overall, this is a great place to hang out, they have a wonderful place to sit outside and you can walk over to the cemetery and enjoy your ice cream while you look at the old interesting stones! read more

This is my second time visiting Boise and coming to The Stil with my family. I've been very impressed by the concoction of flavors from the stracciatella, the Marky Mark and the Funky Crunch, pumpkin, and halva chocolate coffee. I don't recall all of the flavors but the dairy and the cream flavor really stand out for quality and consistency. I love ice cream in which you can really taste the flavor profiles of the dairy and it doesn't have to be masked by too much sugar. I also applaud the owner that is bringing so much creativity. My whole family enjoys the craftsmanship of your ice cream. It's a nice consistency, never overly sweet, and perfectly balanced giving nostalgia of a mix of old fashioned style technique and modern technique without seeming trendy. I live in Seattle and this balance is really hard to find. Customer service is exceptional and the staff add hard working. I wax appreciative of the front counter staff that took the order of my 6 family members all the while navigating cones and babies, and the other staff helped light the fire pit. Thank you! If you love ice cream you must go here. When you walk up to this cute little spot, you immediately smell the waffle cones and the goodness and you know everything is going to be delightful. The amazing and super friendly staff greet you with a smile and let you taste literally anything you want which is so nice and they also give great suggestions. There are so many flavors, many of which are gluten free and they even have vegan options. And for those who are looking for a little boozy kick they have something for you too. The gal working was super patient and helpful as we were very indecisive in picking our flavors. After letting us taste test and pick different ice cream flavors, she helped finding good beer and wine to go with the ice cream. She did such a good job because pairings were delicious! I have been going to the stil for years, and it disappoints me to write this. Their ice cream is the best in the valley, as overpriced as it is. The value is there if you want to support local and have interesting flavor combinations. That's where it stops being good from my experience. 2/3 of my last visits have involved me either being evangelized to, or been roped into religious conversation with the people hanging out in the store. Tonight I walked in, and immediately the corner table starts talking about how heavily tattooed people are sinners and they start quoting bible verses around me, the heavily tattooed person that just walked in. I asked the girl behind the counter, "do you always have customers hang out that are rude to other customers?" And she replied, "I'm Christian so it doesn't bother me." Either The STIL has changed their policy about serving sizes and employees wearing masks indoors or the lady working today is an incredibly self-centered, irresponsible a-hole. Every time we've been to The STIL downtown during the covid pandemic, the employees are always wearing masks. Today (Sunday afternoon, 9/12/21) we went to the Latah store for the first time and the sole employee did have a mask on. Beyond the mask issue, her attitude and work ethic were worthless. She served scoops of ice cream that were tiny in comparison to the ones served at the downtown store every single one of the dozens of times we've been there. We politely expressed our confusion over the scoops and she rudely and flatly claimed that the size was correct, then proceeded to charge us double prices for single scoops. If we ever see this employee working at this store again, we will not get ice cream there. If we ever see STIL employees not wearing masks, in violation of CDC guidelines, during a deadly pandemic when every ICU in Idaho is full of covid patients, we will never return to any STIL store. read more

I would consider myself an ice cream aficionado. Every time we travel with our family, we look for dessert places we can try out after dinners out. Boise area has a few good ice cream places and we tried them out. The STIL(not sure the origin of the name but whatever) was by far the best; and to be honest, this is perhaps the best ice cream I've had in the US, and we've had a lot. We ended up getting ice cream here 4 out of the 5 days we were here. That's how delicious it is. We would HIGHLY recommend trying this out, I do not think you'll be disappointed. Well in contrast to the negative Nancy who was the first to review this STIL location, I really enjoy coming to this location. I love the outdoor seating with the fire pits and picnic tables. The outdoor seating area is one of the best features and is a great place to enjoy some yummy ice cream. Plus, the outdoor area is very dog-friendly. I am really loving the fall flavors right now (except the apple one, a bit too overpowering for my tastes). So ignore the only negative review from an overly disgruntled customer and come enjoy some ice cream at this location! I've been back at least three times this past month and will be back again!
