It's incredibly difficult to find someone in Redding who specializes in this type of door work, and we couldn't be happier with the service we received. He initially came to our home for a free consultation, spent nearly an hour carefully measuring everything, and provided a detailed shopping list. He even continued helping by text when I became overwhelmed by all the options and confused about the measurements. When it was time for the installation, he spent nearly half the day replacing and properly aligning our very heavy door--all on his own and without interrupting us while we worked. Our door and frame had never fully recovered after firefighters had to break through it during a fire, and it had become extremely difficult to open and close. It now works beautifully. He was knowledgeable, personable, funny, patient, and incredibly hardworking. On top of all that, he was extremely reasonable, which felt exceptionally fair considering the consultation, ongoing guidance, and amount of labor involved. We are so grateful to have found him and would highly recommend his services to anyone needing specialized door work. read more

Bruce was great to work with. He returned my calls promptly. He was at my house on time, actually early. I was very impressed with his knowledge and he did an excellent job. I also needed some complicated electrical work and his referral was also excellent. After many disappointing experiences with home repair services in Redding, it is reassuring to know that now I can call Bruce, confident the work will be done correctly. read more

Bruce Drummond did an excellent job installing a bathroom LED mirror in my Master bath. He also did a wonderful job explaining all the whys of everything he did and taught me on ways to patch and fill the walls afterwards. Very respectful and great value for his work. I appreciate you! I have hired Bruce on multiple jobs and have been exceptionally satisfied with all work. Bruce has always been on time with me. He has worked on putting on a new door and also installing crown molding and baseboards throughout our home. I did all the painting and touch-ups after installation myself which helped on the cost. In my estimate I would HIGHLY recommend Bruce any day any time hands down! He is trust worthy, reliable and completes his work with impeccable accuracy and pristine precision. You can thank me later after you hire him. You're welcome. read more

Showed up on time and took care in assembling furniture. Fair price for the work done

We needed to have our fencing and gate replaced, and chose Bruce, due to the excellent reviews. He certainly lived up to them. He did an estimate, and explained everything fully, and presented a few different options for us as well. The work was done in one day, and it is just beautiful. He`s an excellent and experienced craftsman, professional, personable, and someone I would trust with any repairs. He left everything neat and clean----and the new gate is something that makes me happy every time I look at it, it`s so well done. Bruce solved a problem we were having with rain pooling on top of a decorative fence wall in our front yard. Bruce came up with a solution to place a metal cap along the top section which sat seamlessly on top of the wood. He had this piece custom made and it completely solved the problem! Excellent work ethic! read more

I thought Bruce was the man for the job. He measured and asked me to have 16ft Coronado Baseboards and a sm sheet of pine paid for, on hold for pick up for next day to get the job started to prepare home for a rental. I had already had samples of the prepainted baseboards I purchased I was able to get 16 ft! I purchased 8ft as walls were 151/2 ft. Even though my sedan was packed with household items as I was moving out of Redding I was able to find an area from the front passenger seat area to the back seat. I thought this way I'd have exactly the baseboards I preferred. By the way I just turned 85 yrs old! Even though this took several hours off of my 8hr trip I went and purchased the pine panel and the baseboard! I texted Bruce with info. a couple hours into my trip Bruce tells me he seems to be having blood sugar issues and will not be able to do the job! Well folks he is still on Yelp! He is still working! Not believing all his reviews or his sugar issue! Betty Y read more

Does really great work, shows up on time, explains what he's doing, and has a willingness to really help out people. Highly recommend!

We had several doors that were not closing properly due to some settling of an older home. Bruce fixed all of them and made it look easy. He has a ton of experience and will teach anyone interested in learning some of the tricks of the trade. Would highly recommend. read more

Bruce Drummond has done many repairs, improvements to our Sunnyvale, Birdland area home since 2010. Bruce rebuilt a short side fence and gate for us. The original work was done poorly by another contractor 6 months earlier. Learning of this issue, Bruce was extra professional and accommodating with us and was very fair in quoting a price. He discussed with us what we had in mind, and provided options for both materials and design. As the re-build was in progress he had us out to look at the work and discuss/make changes on the fly that improved what was originally discussed. The end product was better than imagined and the price was fair. It is a very sturdy fence/gate. We know it will last for many many years. We highly recommend Bruce. read more

The Small Job Guru - Fence & Gate - Handyman Near Me

I just had Bruce over this morning to re-mount a couple of kitchen cabinets and do a bit of painting. On one hand, it looked easy for him, and you can tell he's done this type of work many times. On the other hand, he knew all the expert techniques to do the work properly and get everything aligned exactly. I was considering doing the painting myself, but I'm glad I let Bruce do it. Even seemingly simple tasks will come out better with expert technique. Besides being a pleasant person and doing great work, Bruce also explains every step and teaches you to do it yourself, in case you care to try next time. As for me, I think I'll call him back to do anything important in my home! read more

I replaced my old side by side refrigerator with a new french door cabinet depth version by LG which is about 1 inch taller than my old one. This required a tricky modification of my present cabinetry or a custom smaller cabinet to replace the current one in order to optimize my kitchen floor space. After talking to several cabinet makers and contractors I was not too happy with costs and timing quoted for a new cabinet. I found Bruce's name on Yelp. After speaking with him I was sure that a modification of my present cabinet rather than full replacement was the way to go, and Bruce agreed to take on the task. Two days later he came to work and the job was done in just a few hours, and the results were beyond my expectations. The new fridge now fits perfectly inside the niche, and my kitchen space is even larger than before. It looks like a custom made kitchen should. We're are ready to enjoy our new fridge, and all done in less than a day with no mess left behind!! Bruce is top notch and wholeheartedly recommend him. Thanks Bruce read more

Enjoyed working with Bruce, he fixed a few minor items at my home that basically were never done right by the original builder (long story) like a bedroom door and fence gates that would not latch properly. Some additional parts were needed and he gave me the option of paying him to shop for them, or getting them myself, with the latter at a significant discount. He gave me clear guidance on what to get and reviewed photos I sent him while shopping to make sure the items would work. He installed the selected items quickly and professionally to fix the issue. Would definitely hire him again! read more

Fantastic! Bruce really did a fantastic job for us. Great communications, on time, very very skilled (something that was difficult to find in hanging a custom door - a door without a frame). He knew exactly what needed to be done. Knows what vendors to work with, was able to show us what needed to be done and was always on time & friendly. He's are #1 choice going forward for any kind of work in the hous read more

We are really happy with the quality of work that Bruce recently did for our home. We had several projects we needed to be done and all were completed to our satisfaction. If you are looking for a meticulous craftsman, then Bruce is your carpenter. He helped with my patio deck remodel. He made some suggestions which reduced his scope of work but resulted in a better patio deck remodel. He was keen to assure his work met my expectations, and he kept me appraised of various options as the project proceeded. He was able to build level stairs despite the foundation not being level. If you are looking for a "quick and dirty", this is not Bruce; he leaves the work area as clean (if not cleaner) as when he started. He comes on time and he is flexible to reschedule when there are "rain delays". read more

Bruce is extraordinarily punctual and responsive. After my initial call, he came out to get the scope of the work, and we settled on a start date and time (note: he's an early starter. We settled on 7:30 but I'm sure he could have come earlier). He has a very well-equipped truck and quickly set up the tools he would need, including a portable table saw(!) We replaced our cooktop, oven and microwave and added a warming drawer. Each of those required modifications, some extensive, in the existing cabinetry and, in the case of the cooktop, in the granite countertop. Each time he came out, we discussed what he would work on that day, and he kept me fully informed about what he was doing and why. Several times he spotted potential problems and addressed them. As a result when the installers came the job was very straightforward. Bruce is always happy to share tips about how to use tools and how to properly accomplish tasks. He's a real pleasure to work with. I thought his labor rate was very reasonable. Bruce came out multiple times and went through each task with care, from sawing the countertop to rebuilding shelves. There were changed along the way -- aren't there always -- and he cheerfully redid work to accommodate them. read more

Bruce did such a good, professional job. He went through my long list of projects with speed. Extremely bad experience: this person uses online service to book applointments making impression that they'll come and do work. Instead, they come for these paid appointments to "do estimate only"--leaving you without work done. And this is for very minor, easy fixes. False advertising to lure native people. read more

Very professional & able. Got his name from NextDoor.com recommendation for a backyward Gazebo installation. Bruce looked over the instructions briefly and gave an approx estimate. He set it up in good time. read more

Bruce to the rescue when another handyman didn't show up. I got his name off Angie's List and cross referenced it with Yelp. He called back within an hour and showed up within 24 hours. We had a weird array of tasks from a shower drain with stripped screws to a wobbly door frame and threshold to a dishwasher that wasn't reinserted in the cabinets properly by our floor installer. He fixed it all, better than we thought possible - then saved us some money on a few simple things by explaining how to do it ourselves. Bruce knows his stuff and doesn't up-sell you on the simple stuff. Definitely calling him again - probably sooner than later! read more

My husband and I highly recommend Bruce. He did a phenomenal job on our crown molding. Not only does our home now look even more gorgeous, but he was so accommodating, informative, and willing to do whatever it took to make us happy. He also fixed our french doors in our living room so that the door would no longer scrap our hardwood floors. I can't say enough great things about Bruce. He is a great guy and we truly appreciate all the work he did in our new home. We will definitely be using him for future improvements. read more

We are extremely pleased with the work Bruce has done in our home over the last few weeks. He demonstrated his excellent craftsmanship with the installation of crown molding, new baseboard and casings. Several issues in the wall angles offered challenges but each time he fashioned a clever solution with an outstanding result. He also redid a stairwell wall and will assist in one or two other tasks as our home improvement adventure continues. Bruce is trustworthy and a great communicator; we enjoyed our chats with him. He prefers to start work early in the day which was ideal for our family's daily rhythm. read more

I received Bruce's contact information from NextDoor with great references. I can attest that Bruce is a great person to work with. Very responsive, professional and personable! We had a few small things around the house, he provided a reasonable estimate and for the work that was not in his arena (wrought iron and electrical) he connected us with other professionals of equal caliber. We first met Bruce when he was hired by our builder ten years ago. Since then we have hired him back several times for odd jobs. Here is the deal. Bruce is knowledgeable, and his work quality is outstanding. Bruce is also very fast and gets the job done. He is entirely dependable and totally honest. What I also appreciate is that when he can't do the work he will tell you as well. Bruce has our highest recommendation! read more

Bruce has done several jobs for me, varying from small and easy to large and difficult. In addition to other projects, he has demolished an old shed (very easy), straightened and strengthened a couple leaning fences (moderate), and built a cantilevered bench into a 20-foot rock wall (very complex). To every job he has contributed excellent effort and skill. Bruce is conscientious and honest, and always tries to do the best job for the lowest cost. He has a lot of experience, and most important, a lot of common sense. He explains how he plans to proceed on a project, and gets approval for that plan before starting. He is pleasant to work with and a meticulous craftsman. I can't give enough praise to his work ethic, and I give him my highest recommendation. read more

Bruce is an outstanding handyman and craftsman. Our experience with him could not have been better. He has done a wide variety of jobs around the house for us. He is professional, fair, efficient, honest, skillful, and pleasant. He has now done many small jobs for us, including cabinetry repair, door shaving, outlet repair, bathroom caulking, etc. He is excellent at sizing up a problem, thinking of solutions, and then either making the fix, himself, or recommending someone who can.
