On the other hand, he knew all the expert techniques to do the work properly and get everything aligned exactly. I was considering doing the painting myself, but I'm glad I let Bruce do it. Even seemingly simple tasks will come out better with expert technique. Bruce solved a problem we were having with rain pooling on top of a decorative fence wall in our front yard. I thought Bruce was the man for the job. He measured and asked me to have 16ft Coronado Baseboards and a sm sheet of pine paid for, on hold for pick up for next day to get the job started to prepare home for a rental. I had already had samples of the prepainted baseboards I purchased I was able to get 16 ft! I purchased 8ft as walls were 151/2 ft. Even though my sedan was packed with household items as I was moving out of Redding I was able to find an area from the front passenger seat area to the back seat. I thought this way I'd have exactly the baseboards I preferred. By the way I just turned 85 yrs old! Even though this took several hours off of my 8hr trip I went and purchased the pine panel and the baseboard! Bruce is extraordinarily punctual and responsive. After my initial call, he came out to get the scope of the work, and we settled on a start date and time (note: he's an early starter. We settled on 7:30 but I'm sure he could have come earlier). He has a very well-equipped truck and quickly set up the tools he would need, including a portable table saw(!) We replaced our cooktop, oven and microwave and added a warming drawer. Each of those required modifications, some extensive, in the existing cabinetry and, in the case of the cooktop, in the granite countertop. Each time he came out, we discussed what he would work on that day, and he kept me fully informed about what he was doing and why. Several times he spotted potential problems and addressed them. As a result when the installers came the job was very straightforward. Bruce is always happy to share tips about how to use tools and how to properly accomplish tasks. He's a real pleasure to work with. I thought his labor rate was very reasonable. Bruce came out multiple times and went through each task with care, from sawing the countertop to rebuilding shelves.
