We visited a handful of daycares, and some brought me to tears, thinking "How could I ever send my kid to a place like this?" Ms Avelina has been the blessing we needed. Yes, our child cried at the drop offs for the first few days. We all expected this. Ms Avelina comforted and welcomed her. Now? Izzy runs to the car in the morning and doesn't want to leave half the time. What I like most is the teaching style. She is firm and kind - teaching independence and not "babying" our child. Ms Avelina proves that she is invested in Izzy's wellbeing, and it's clear she adheres to all the state and licensing guidelines to the letter. The proof is there for us to see- Izzy is glowing when she comes home. She's learning things every day. She has a new confidence in herself. Overall she's transforming from a little toddler to a child. You can imagine how bittersweet. Instead of feeling guilty leaving my kid with someone else, I feel proud and happy to send her someone that is truly caring for her and helping her grow. She lied and told us that when we signed up that there was only one opening but the second day I drop my son off I meet a mom who says it's her son's first day there. The 5th day I drop my son off at her house she doesn't answer the door and when I knock twice she yells that I'm knocking too hard. Vanessa has me fill out a food form for stipends that same morning. When I'm leaving and the same new kiddos mom asks me about the 7 am drop off time because Vanessa is giving her a hard time about it and when Vanessa sees us talking she comes outside to listen. I then pick my son up that same day and now Vanessa lies again and says she cannot watch our son any longer because her son starts school after 7:15am. I ask Vanessa to finish the following second week with our son since we already paid and she agrees. She didn't give me 30 days notice like the contract says and no time to find someone else. When I tell her that I will talk with work to see if I can flex time to be there after 7:30am like she's been complaining about she tells me that it won't work because I expect too much for my son, he needs to be carried too much, she doesn't like how I knock on the door and she cannot change his diaper ever few hours. I don't say anything because I'm handing my child over to her for the next few days and I don't want any harm to come to him but am desperately needing childcare. Honestly I would never recommend her as a daycare provider because she's not reliable nor trustworthy. She lies and scams the system and it's just business for her. I couldn't even tell you she was a good daycare because my son was never left in consistent care if Vanessa. It was her mother or another woman watching him and neither could really communicate well enough in English to be helpful. When I would see that my son was fed times he wasn't even there, given ounces of breast milk that weren't even supplied-so what did they feed him and my supplies not even returned on my last day. I had an extremely bad experience with Butterfly Garden's Child Care and would not recommend this…read morechild care service. The owner cancelled often with less than 24 hours notice due to personal issues. She did not refund money for cancelled days and I left feeling like I was swindled for money. I lost a $250 deposit, $50 in days I paid for that she cancelled, and $40 from baby rompers I purchased from her and never received. Although her contract stated the deposit was nonrefundable, I politely asked for a refund because she terminated my daughter's childcare because of health issues. I did not feel comfortable leaving my daughter with any longer because I did not think she could adequately care for her. She suggested I apply the deposit to the last 2 weeks of service however it was already verbally agreed upon earlier that I only needed her services once a week in the summer. So I was basically being told I would need to bring my daughter days I did not need service in order to recoup the money from my deposit. Needless to say, I did not bring my daughter back and I lost $340. She suggested I speak to her lawyer about any other concerns regarding my refund so I asked for her lawyers contact information I have yet to receive it.
