We've been hosting food trucks for lunch at the office. We have an influx of interns for the summer months, and cafeteria can get a bit crazy. The Sizzle Truck was on location today - was something new so I figured I'd check it out. Menu consisted of various sandwiches and a few Greek souvlaki options. The New England Steak & Cheese immediately caught my eye on the menu so I opted for that. Total came to about $10 which is standard for food truck fare. My order took about 10 minutes to prepare and I was ready for action. I was pleasantly surprised to see the sandwich consistent of medallions of what appeared to be a very nice sirloin. It was extremely tender and pretty flavorful with the caramelized onions and garlic aioli it came with. The bun was soft and the fries that accompanies it were well seasoned (celery salt, black pepper, garlic salt?). Where I was disappointed was the small amount of cheese that was on the sandwich. I absolutely love cheese especially when combined with steak on a hoagie roll, so I wish there would have been a bit more on this sandwich. Found these guys at the fort Myers brewery the other night when we went to listen to live music. I ordered a cheese steak sandwich and it was actually really good. Staff is still friendly as always! The familiarity of the Sizzle Truck is starting to become a local staple around town and seems to be on the heartbeat of what goes on in the Fort Myers/Naples area. From its mainstay on Fridays at the Naples Beach Brewery, you can guarantee that they'll also be at the local hot spot events when you least expect them. Their menu gives the local fans a glimpse of New Hampshire, and is continually evolving into new and adventurous items and sometimes with a little greek flair. I've had their gyro, falafel with the use of local organic ingredients, their asian wrap, and their steak and cheese sub sandwich. To date, my favorites are the asian wrap and the steak and cheese. I'm sure that I'll be changing my opinion when they create something more innovative than the next. It's all about family, and they want to make sure that they're giving a little love with every sandwich they make. They're open to our feedback and I think it speaks volumes when small businesses listen to their customers when they put out product that's close to their heart. For me, it shows maturity in understanding the successes of an ongoing business in a seasonal area. The truck itself is pretty sweet. They have a digital menu board, and a television built right into the truck, so it's great having some entertainment while you wait for your sandwich. And the truck is spotless. They definitely care about their work stations and appearance. The Sizzle Truck is very hard to miss, because it has a bold blue color with flames all around. From speaking with the owners with our faces half-shoved with sandwiches, we were told that there might be some exciting new things on their menu very soon. We were at a Harley Davidson Bike Night tonight (which made me think, why have I waited this long to write a review?) and their truck had some steady lines clamoring in the whole time we were there. Love the Sizzle Truck! They come to my office once every month or 2 and they are hands down the most reliable food truck in all of SWFL. They are always on time, always consistent on quality, always super friendly, and they've even been cooking up some great specials! I feel spoiled too because some of the time, they'll even bring a special vegetarian option for me! So thoughtful! Their food isn't exactly gourmet, but it always tastes good and the prices are super fair! The Sizzle Truck came to my apartment complex for Food Truck Night! The problem was picking which sandwich to get. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and anxiously waited by the truck for my name to be called. Meanwhile, a previous customer came up to the window and said to the food truck something like "Honey, that was the best darn chicken sandwich I ever had. You made the heck out of that sandwich". She then turned to the people in line and said " Get the chicken sandwich and you will die (in a good way)". I was bummed I'd already ordered a different sandwich, but my Shrimp Po Boy sandwich was excellent, the employees were very friendly, and they made it quick as well. This is probably my favorite food truck in the Naples area. Gourmet sandwiches and a salad option for the carb avoiders. I always get the chicken Slovakia and it is mouthgasmicly DELICIOUS. It comes with a side of fries for about $9. Perfect when you want a restaurant quality sandwich on the go. They also offer a shrimp pop boy, as well as a steak sandwich. I've tried them 3 times. This is one of those fads that I just don't get maybe. The food is 'okay' in my opinion. For $10 you get what is essentially a small sandwich and average quantity side of fries. It's worth about $6, and no not $6.45, which turns into $7+ after obligatory tip... I mean $6 tops. If this food was being served in a bar, would you really be EXCITED about it? I surely wouldn't, and I'm guessing if you blind taste tested this and didn't tell people where it came from, most people would be just as unimpressed at the overall value. I realize people gotta make a living, and if giving people some sort of experience and excitement that I don't understand is it, then so be it, go be successful, but you're unlikely to see me getting something from here. read more
