A-OK but, it can get smokey and kinda crowded pretty quick…read more Here's the skinny: Simple drinks here... no fancy isht Mind your lungs, it gets smokey in here. Not much room on the "back side" of the bar. Booths are hard on your cheeks. Tables are better for a group. Here's the fat: If you're looking for a Martini or something, look elsewhere. Here it's beer, and simply mixed drinks as fast as they can pour 'em. This is another one of those NWI no frills just bottle and draft beer places. If you want a particular mixed drink - bring the recipe... they'll make it for you. If you don't smoke and have an aversion... stay away. Being a smaller bar and in Indiana the smoke pours forth from people like a *Pyroclastic Flow. The ventilation system has absolutely ZERO chance of keeping up. One side of the bar is less that 3 feet from the East wall... not many people pass through there but, when they do it's an awkward invasion of your "personal bubble". That said... it's a bar so personal space doesn't really mean much, especially after people have a few drinks. The booths here are particularly hard, I suggest sitting down gently unless you've got plenty of cushioning back there. Another thing about the booths, you're likely to find all kinds of change in the seats... change, cigarette butts and a coupon for Pizza Hut. Best bet for a group, tables. They can be put together for larger groups and there's no faux padding on the chairs to make you think they're soft. SYOY *Pyroclastic Flow (Noun) A fast moving gaseous cloud of hot ashes and other material thrown out from an erupting volcano

I ordered the Ruben and fries. Actually delicious. I sat on the restaurant side. We were there for about 4 hours. I did leave smelling like cigarette smoke. It was pretty bad. And horrible for a non smoker. The bathroom is decent. There is a tiny lot for parking.

So, it was Friday late afternoon. Family and I for once had nothing to do, and we were hungry…read more Traditionally, we are not the bar scene type. I've been in Schererville for 2 years now. We have heard a lot of great things about Greg's Place by the P.D. and court house. So, as we drove by, we decided to stop and check it out. We were greeted warmly by the bartender. We said we came in for dinner. He directed us to the restaurant. Was still a little early, so we were the first ones there. Tiffany, an awesome lady, was our hostess. We ordered tacos. chicken sandwich. And a rueben. Everything was sooo good, and the portions were great. Speaking with Tiffany she gave us a rundown on the Town, the events at Greg's Place. Bands, karaoke and DJs that play on the weekends. On Thutsday they have Bingo. Overall, this is an extremely nice neighborhood place to hang out. We will be back, especially for the bands and dancing! Greg's Place is a must visit if passing through Schererville or if you haven't yet as a resident. Highly recommended by our family. Thank you Tiffany, you are terrific!

I know they have a lot of different games, such as VR machines, duckpin bowling, darts etc but if you come at any point in the daytime it is usually so overrun with children that having a drink or adult time is strange. If you go too late on a weekend you can run into a much younger party vibe. The bar itself is so nice and large, and they have a ton of options for cocktails and other options. The food has been consistently pretty good for us from burgers to nachos to grilled cheese. We've never had a problem with the service and love coming back here, like I said you just have to pick your poison when thinking what type of atmosphere you want to be in.

We came to do duckpin bowling after visiting Mechanical Pins in Indy last weekend. We had fun…read morealthough there isn't a way to play by the traditional rules of 3 rolls per turn. We talked about how we would absolutely come back to Public Bar & Rec UNTIL we received the check and saw we were charged 20% gratuity for the GAME as well as the food/drinks. We ordered four soft drinks without refills and our waitress checked on us once more during the hour. No food was ordered and we needed zero assistance. Absolute insanity that there is gratuity added to the games that are supposed to be part of the draw and environment and that you are already paying for. It's not like she was manually fixing the pins for us each roll or something. Mechanical Pins charged by the hour and even encouraged food to be brought in from the food court next door or from anywhere else or to order from their own bar. No gratuity was automatically added for the entertainment. This would have been fun for the $45 advertised but we walked out paying $80. We asked the two young ladies at the front as we were leaving if that was the norm for them to charge gratuity on the games and were told yes. However, their website states differently and says it is for parties of more than 8 people. We were a family of four and not there for a party.
