A-OK but, it can get smokey and kinda crowded pretty quick…read more Here's the skinny: Simple drinks here... no fancy isht Mind your lungs, it gets smokey in here. Not much room on the "back side" of the bar. Booths are hard on your cheeks. Tables are better for a group. Here's the fat: If you're looking for a Martini or something, look elsewhere. Here it's beer, and simply mixed drinks as fast as they can pour 'em. This is another one of those NWI no frills just bottle and draft beer places. If you want a particular mixed drink - bring the recipe... they'll make it for you. If you don't smoke and have an aversion... stay away. Being a smaller bar and in Indiana the smoke pours forth from people like a *Pyroclastic Flow. The ventilation system has absolutely ZERO chance of keeping up. One side of the bar is less that 3 feet from the East wall... not many people pass through there but, when they do it's an awkward invasion of your "personal bubble". That said... it's a bar so personal space doesn't really mean much, especially after people have a few drinks. The booths here are particularly hard, I suggest sitting down gently unless you've got plenty of cushioning back there. Another thing about the booths, you're likely to find all kinds of change in the seats... change, cigarette butts and a coupon for Pizza Hut. Best bet for a group, tables. They can be put together for larger groups and there's no faux padding on the chairs to make you think they're soft. SYOY *Pyroclastic Flow (Noun) A fast moving gaseous cloud of hot ashes and other material thrown out from an erupting volcano

I did ask the bartender if she could make a zombie and got a reply of what the heck is that? Still cool. I'll take a beer. It's definitely a locals bar, all good. But if you are walking in solo and not from the area, this isn't the place for you. I tried to ask the bartenders name, something I do so when I go back etc and maybe to have a conversation, they were more interested in getting back to the regulars and chat. I did get it, but it was just a weird exchange. All in all, service was just fine, I got my cold beers timely as I had a few before moshing to another spot, but if I want to sit and drink alone I can do that at the hotel. If you are with a friend go in and party on! I'm really only dinging because the name is misleading. I'm guessing that was the original intention and the area just doesn't want that and so it's a shift. It's all good, just different.

A minute in, we realized they allow smoking which we weren't use to since we are from New York. (In that category, I'd give a 3 star) We sat a a high top and were quickly and friendly greeted. The crowd was getting busy just before 5 pm on a Wednesday. The array of local characters was amazing, all friendly but all walks of life. The prize of the day was that we ordered a round of beers for 5 of us. I ordered a PBR as they had a huge PBR inflatable can outside and I love me a cold Pabst. The server asked "can or draft?" Great to have a choice so I picked draft. It was happy hour so that was $1! Not a typo! We had dinner plans elsewhere so had to run after 1 round. I closed out our tab for $6.50. Tipped $9 because my mind was blown by prices. There is outside seating if you want to avoid the smoke. There was a 1970s vintage "smoke eater" hanging from the ceiling that by my best guess, hasn't been run since the Berlin Wall came down. Definitely a dive bar. This place is a must visit if in the area. Great people and great vibe. Cold and cheap beer and ample parking. I need to go back on a Friday night. Sorry no photos this time around.
