Food: My oh my whoever created this menu needs serious help. We started with the Mac & Cheese Eggrolls, who EVER thought this would be a good idea? It was like eating a kids science experiment, it just doesn't work. I'm a vegetarian. They advertise vegetarian options, yet they were out of everything except.... "Cauliflower Wings." The batter tasted like it was deep fried in the same fryer as the chicken wings, and it was definitely frozen cauliflower peices and not fresh- I took 3 bites and couldn't finish, plus just like the entres most of the vegetarian sauces were out. The sweet & spicy was nasty. My husband got a burger, and while that man eats everything... he took one bite and never picked it up again. Burger was soggy, meat was definitely cooked frozen, and the ranch was sour. They gave us chips, which were chewy, stale, and flavor was not there. And while everything tasted absoultely terrible, we thought we could save the day with dessert. Cheesecake. Who doesn't LOVE cheesecake. We ordered the specialty SMORES Cheesecake. That pile of chemical slop tasted like play-doh, we had one bite and we watched as our waitress picked up an entire table of full plates without batting an eye. Price: For 1 APP, 2 Entrees, and 1 Dessert totaling $77 you'd expect something... decent. But this place ruined all our expectations. Conclusion: Is is worth coming? MAYBE, but only for the live music outside, food- you should order from somewhere else. WILL WE BE GOING BACK? NO.

Casa Cantina - Bloody Mary bar on Sunday

It's for sure a place to take a guest or have a classier evening. The worst part is the prices, but it's still better service than the restaurant side. Casa Cantina began in 1993 when the Casa Nueva employees expanded to a full service bar. The infused vodka cocktails are what its best known for. I have only been only to try a few beverages here since it can be costly. The blueberry mojito is the best. It's sweet and tangy. The margaritas are good if kind of watery. A glass is about $5 to $6, while a pitcher is about $20 to $30. There's also premium and super premium margarita that use higher quality liquor. Among the vodka infused cocktails, I most liked the cucumber gimlet. This is about $5, with cucumber infused vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup. Another good drink is the Ohio Mule. This is about $5, with Buckeye Vodka, Reed's Ginger Brew, and lime juice. Casa Cantina has a limited menu of some items from Casa Nueva. The house made salsas are kick ass. The black bean is garlicy, and the habanero is burning hot. I am a supporter of independently owned companies so I want to like this. It's run by people who care but may not have a lot of experience. This is worth a return because it's still a good place for chilling and enjoying a margarita or an infused vodka.

I've been to Casa several times, on this visit I just stopped in for a drink. The bar is a…read morethree-sided, wrap around affair that was already busy when I walked in at 5pm on a Wednesday. The dining room was already on a wait at that point in the evening. I ordered a Manhattan, it came on the rocks, I probably would have had it up if the bartender had asked, but it was fine. They have a special menu for the bar, it looked to be on the expensive side. Casa has great food, but it is not cheap. There is a stage and a mirror ball and a small PA, it would be a fun place to see a band. I hear my beloved Phantods have played Casa. It seems as friendly and tasty and as expensive as I remember it. Definitely worth a look if you're in Athens for more than a day.
