Rianne Maldonado, owner and face of The Shy Moon Center, has been a family friend for many years. Due to recent events, I am saden to say that I am absolutely appalled with her professionalism as an aspiring future yoga instructor and current business owner.
It had come to my attention that she is hosting a Heart Opening Chair Yoga class this month, and being a yoga instructor myself of four years, I was thrilled. A simple, harmless comment asking about her graduation led to a defensive and haste private message claiming I was attacking her. I made it very apparent that it was NOT my intention. It was then discovered that she has not yet graduated from her 200 hour Yoga Registered Training. Without the slightest attempt on a conversation, She involved her teacher, removed only my comments and was quick to block me and unfriend my family. I have reached out to her multiple times but she refuses to address this at all. Needless to say, this is not how you treat a customer/student and long time family friend. It is also very unprofessional.
With that said, I am writing this as a warning for those who seek to practice yoga here. Though it is not governed that a teacher must be certified, I would not recommend studying a mindful practice from a teacher and business owner who is as toxic and lost as this one. Yoga is a spiritual practice that teaches self-discipline, self-control, and mindful thinking. Clearly skills Rianne Maldonado lacks.
It is clear that the Intentions of the Shy Moon Center are un-pure. The teachings here are unethical. She hides the truth about her credentials, for good reason. Yoga and Reiki should be a safe place to exchange knowledge of a sacred practice and not a space for a "teacher" to make a quick buck, or in this case "donation". read more
