We were visiting friends and family in town and decided to check out The Shot Cellar. We had literally just arrived. I ordered my first beer of the night, and my friend took one shot, ONE, before the bouncer told her she was "too drunk" and kicked her out. We hadn't even had time to sit down. When we realized we were all being asked to leave, I handed my full beer to my brother to finish. The bouncer ripped it out of his hand, spilled it all over him, and tossed it. My first and only drink of the night, wasted for no reason. I understand bars have to be cautious, but this felt over the top and unprofessional. We weren't causing a scene, we had just gotten there, and being treated like that right off the bat was disappointing. Definitely won't be back. read more

Came here while on the waitlist for the handroll place Hatsuyuki next door. My friend and I were the only customers since it was just 6pm but the bartender was super friendly and engaging. We tried the paleta and Alexis Texas shots off the shot girl summer list. I loved the Alexis Texas one the best. Super fruity and candy-like. The paleta was just ok to me and not very strong (got it without Tabasco). The only bad thing I didn't like was no prices on here so I didn't know what anything cost. read more

There are over 250 unique shots available, ranging from your typical Lemon Drops to more unique ones like Baby Yoda. It's safe to say that there's something here for everyone! I secretly wish all bars were like this because it allows you to try so many different flavors without getting too full (you guys know the feels!) Oh and while you're at it, make sure you pair your shots with an ice cold Rahr beer as well :) Your bartender will have perfect recommendations for you, but I really loved the English Garden! "No aceptan pasaportes extranjeros" I would like to state that in my opinion this Establishment has Practices that marginalizes the Hispanic community. In their front door it said "U.S issued ID, Passport, or any other State or Federal Issued Identification" to verify age in order to serve alcohol and by extension let inside the place. They Declined my friend even though she has a Federal Issues Passport, valid as a Federal issued ID for Identification of her Age and uses as Legal Identification in any other establishment. However because it was not a U.S. issued identification card, the refused to let her in. They said "the refusal to provide entry is up to our own discretion" which is true but I felt that the practice marginalizes a largely Hispanic population. I ask for a manger to read me the policy and they simply pointed to the door. I talked to Grant; a manager there; about it but he said he was enforcing the vague rules that said "OR ANY OTHER STATE OR FEDERAL ISSUED IDENTIFICATION" this was after mentioning most US issued identification, so the meaning behind "other" In my belief, was not for other US states or it trying to be rhetorical. We agreed to disagree, I respect his decision but I feel that his refusal is wrong. read more

Absolutely fantastic service and knowledgeable staff who knows how to make the drinks the right way. Bryan was our bartender and Kyle made us feel at home. Vegas bombs served the traditional way had me blown away as most places make it all into one shot and it absolutely blew me away. Spin the wheel and Bryan was very descriptive and re assuring with the shots which made me comfortable with taking the shot. I know my limit so I did stop before I went too far but Bryan and Kyle made sure I was ok before and after every drink. He denied both of us, who are of age and stopped at the spot before. Now when we do move here, I'll make sure to never go back here. The bar owners or managers evidently do not object to the establishment exhibiting prejudice based on appearance. This is my second instance of facing issues at this particular bar. My friends and I chose to visit this bar because of the drink wheel, but we were met with unpleasant behavior from the security staff and the bartender, Becca. Our friends from New York came to Texas anticipating a warm southern welcome, but unfortunately, they did not experience it here. We had previously enjoyed ourselves at 7th Street and hoped to continue that experience at this bar, but it was not to be. We were only able to spin the wheel once, as Becca was unkind to us without any provocation. We remained polite and enjoyed our time on 7th Street until we arrived at this bar. Becca treated us poorly, and in response, she accused us of being disorderly and disrespectful, which was not true. Other customers at the bar also mentioned that she often behaves this way. I am now planning to look for this bar on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to leave a review. In 2024, we should not tolerate hatred and prejudice for any reason. read more
