It took several weeks and it was expensive but I get it that it's done by hand and takes time. When I went to pick up (they did call to let me know the boots were ready) they were closed due to illness. When I picked up it was clear the sole employee there was still sick so I stayed as far away as possible as they weren't masked and neither was I. The work looked okay - one pair had a tear in the heel leather. In the old days when shoes were repaired they would give a basic polish after the work but it wasn't the case here. The work has extended the life of both pairs and that's the point as they are well made boots expensive to replace, so consider the return on investment if you want work done.

We went in today looking for some shoes to wear to a dinner tomorrow night. When we first walked into the store two employees were standing in the front an older male and female whom did not greet us as we came in, actually looked the other way. Why are you standing there if not to greet customers anyway. Second, another employee followed us around the store pretending to be a shopper. The store in itself had a wide selection of shoes and I did find something to wear. The sales clerk was helpful as I had picked up a pair of shoes with two different sizes and she went back to get the correct shoe for me and I appreciated that. At my age and having shopped many many years I felt its time for store managers and corporate offices to demand more out of their employees. Customer service should always be your number one priority.

While most other places don't carry my size, DSW usually has at least a decent selection to choose from. The clearance rack at the back of the store is the place to find dynamite deals that can't be matched anywhere else. Don't even stop at the regular inventory when you enter - go straight to the clearance rack first... then, if you can't find anything, hit up the regular inventory. Their prices aren't too steep, but this is definitely a step above Payless in terms of price. That said, you get what you pay for - it's a step above Payless in quality as well. The service has always been exceptional. I've never not been approached by someone, whether I was looking for something specific or just generally browsing. They've got a great crew over there.
