Like the old fool that I am -- I mess with my 2 and 4 cycle engines more than I should. Snowblower, mower, line trimmer, backpack blower, chain saw, generator -- I've had my hands in all of them from time to time and -- mostly -- without too much damage to the tools. But lately the press of time and lack of patience means I have to trust these repairs and maintenance to someone else. Enter Sharp Shop. To say they are honest and stand behind their work does not do them justice. These folks thrive on getting your job done right -- at a decent price -- and always to your satisfaction. Mistakes happen my friends -- and the owner (Tim) warrantees the work and will redo or adjust the bill (sometimes both) so you leave satisfied and most of all -- with a tool that works flawlessly. They sell new equipment too -- top of the line stuff like Honda, Stihl and Redmax and even better quality Toro -- and the pricing is competitive -- often about the same as the box stores when they are running a sale. Because they do such a great job keeping my old stuff running so well -- I've yet to buy a new piece of equipment in the past 5 years or so -- in fact -- they discourage buying new if their opinion is that the used piece is a better quality unit. They did an excellent job with my Honda lawn mower. I bought it used, it wasn't running, so I brought it in and they got it working perfectly. The 2nd time I went there for service, I got laughed out of the store because it was an off-brand blower. So I'd call first and make sure they would even work on your machine before bringing it in. Had 1 Horrible experience(which Cost me a $700 snowblower) and 1 ok experience. I replaced the Sparkplug on my Craftsman snowblower, with the Wrong one. Tried to start the Engine, but it Jammed. Requested the owner to Pull the head (which I offered to pay for), so we could see what the issue was. was hoping that the Broken Sparkplug could be removed with little Damage, Again completely willing to pay for this. I drop off machine and within 2 hours I get a call, (not from the owner or daughter, seems Tim Doesn't like to call customers with bad news), From the repair tech who tells me he took a breaker bar to my engine and snapped the Cam shaft, which they can't find a replacement for, so basically my engine is destroyed. At this point I'm a little steamed and let them know. I go over and basically Tim and Daughter refuse to take ANT RESPONSIBILITY at all. They tell me I'm out of luck and at first he (Tim) wouldn't even help me put machine in Truck... Not anyway to do business. Screw me out of $700 snowblower and get Mad at me for breaking it in the first place... read more

Shark shop continues to do exceptional service at a very fair price and they are able and interested in reusing and re-having parts that others throwaway in place with new such as carburetors on small engines with your notoriously finicky and susceptible to bad fuel. They're always willing to help and will stay on the phone to discuss your needs as if they weren't packed with machines to repair. They are respectful kind and thoughtful although it can be hard to get them on the phone sometimes it is worth being patient I have found. I highly recommend these people read more

This place is simply the best. The perfect example of a mom & pop business done right. Tim will always stop what he's doing to answer questions about the power equipment they sell and service. When I bought my Honda generator, he put oil & gas in and checked it over before giving it to me. He showed me how to use it, and even the smart practice of emptying the carb bowl if it will sit unused for a while. After buying a Stihl chainsaw, I was having difficulty starting it and brought it back to the shop for a refresher. Tim and one of the workers took the time to show me again and answer a few more questions that came up. Even their daughter Nicole is in on the act, and she is a very friendly (and increasingly knowledgeable) addition to the sales floor. I bring my mower in every year for sharpening and service and they always do a perfect job. I hope this place never closes! read more

Went here based on Yelp reviews shopping for a new snow blower. The one we had broke down twice last winter. We had it repaired at a shop in Hillsdale the first time and then had the same thing break plus more the next time we used it. We visited on a Saturday and had a great experience with a sales guy. He took his time, went through all of the features on each one that we were looking at, went over prices and gave us a brochure to take with us on which he wrote the prices of all of the machines that we were considering. Went back the next Saturday with our truck knowing that we were going to be leaving with a new snowblower. This time we dealt with Tim (the owner). Again we had a great experience with him going over all of the features. We NEVER felt rushed or pressured. Once we told him which one we wanted, he brought it up to the shop, checked it out, added gas and oil and made sure that everything was ok with it before we left. He went over everything with me (since I made it clear that I would be the one using it as my husband is out working during snow and I wasn't very mechanically inclined). He never made me feel foolish, answered every question that I had and went beyond that to address things that I didn't think to ask. Since we've had no snow yet, our new machine has not been put to use so far but based on service and attention alone, this place gets 5+ stars from me. We plan on bringing our old snow blower there to see about getting it repaired and I'm looking forward to doing more business with them. The ONLY thing that is a bit of a hassle is their parking lot. Very narrow - making it difficult to turn around in to exit if you have a larger vehicle. In our case, a pickup truck. Good place to have your mower blade sharpened, but be wary of major repairs. Took my 12yo toro with brigs motor here. They wanted over $200 to rebuild the carb and fix a cable. A brand new carburetor on amazon is between $20-45 so you do the math. I decided to just junk the mower and buy a refurbished 2013 Honda from Home Depot for $170(even came with a 1yr warranty). The people were very friendly, but obviously their labor cost is similar to an Audi dealer. Who would spend $200 repairing a 12yo mower when a newer better one could be had for less? read more

The Good and the VERY BAD... The good, brought in a Power washer, wouldn't start. Needed a cleaning. The cleaning was done, and it works fine. On a side note, not happy that all of your equipment is left outside until you pick it up. I personally don't think this is good for any machine. The Very Bad. Brought a snow blower. Now the issue was, I inadvertently installed the wrong spark plug and it interfered with the engine, a piece broke off and jammed the engine. I discussed this with the owner, we agreed the head need to be pulled off to see exactly what was going on, whether it would need a rebuild, or if it was just something simpler. A few days goes bye, and I receive a call, not from the Owner mor his Daughter who runs the place, but from the mechanic. I stop by and the mechanic is out to lunch. Owner looks at machine quickly and can't figure out whats wrong and tells me he's confused because the mechanic never took the head off. Next day I get a call from said Mechanic, Engine is Trashed, he used a breaker Bar to un jam the engine indwell, now the camshaft is in pieces, the engine needs a rebuild and thats that. Needless to say I was flabbergasted. I asked if he followed the Directions that the Owner and I discussed. Now, admittedly I was angry, Probably called the kid an Idiot, kid hangs up on me, The daughter now calls up, begins blaming me, because I broke the machine in the first place and I don't know anything about engine repair. I ask for the owner, he won't be in until Tuesday (this was saturday), and I needed to pick up my broken Machine and Weed whacker because they don't want my work, and they are just putting them outside. I go over, miraculously the owner is there and has been the whole time. He will not discuss what happened, It's broken and It's my fault. I ask about how we discussed the course of action to fix it. Nothing. Its my fault for breaking it, and I hurt his mechanics feelings. No mention that what was a Qoute for $150-$200 max if it needed a rebuilt top end, turns into a completely useless machine. So Im now $900 and he blames me. Im the idiot for breaking it. I took it to another Mechanic, and they could tell the head was never taken off, and that there was no reason to use a breaker bar on a jammed engine. Use this company at your own risk. It's difficult for me to trust my power tools and lawn tools to someone I don't know. The local guy ripped my off big time and I will never use him ever again. So after asking around and looking for a Honda repair center, I decided to go here. Staff goes out of their way to help. They gave me many options to fix my mower. My review is of my experience several months ago. They told me 2 weeks to do my repair. I called them after 4 weeks and they had no idea when the parts would arrive. When I asked why they hadn't called me, the young lady got mad at me for telling her it was bad customer service. Called a couple more time before I spoke to the owner. Finally got the repair done after 7 weeks, too late in the season to use. They charged me for parts only, not the labor which was good they did something but I never once asked for a discount. Have not been back since and will not be back. The younger people working here do not appreciate my business. read more

I've been a customer of the sharp shop for many years and just recently had a problem with my snow blower. I went in and spoke to the owner who spent over 20 minutes pulling up drawings on the computer trying to help me so I could fix the problem myself. After realizing that the problem was more than I could handle I called back and they pick up the blower on Tuesday and delivered it back as good as new on Thursday. By they way the blower is 21 years old. They also charged a reasonable price. I walked in to buy a carburetor for a Honda lawn mower. I told the guy at the counter what type of engine and the part number for the carb. He went in the back and came out with the wrong carb. He then told me that he couldn't help me so I said I'll go someplace else. As I was walking away from the counter i heard him say "Screw you too." I turned around and asked him what that was about. He then screamed "I said screw you, that's an insult saying your going to buy it someplace else." I said that he didn't have the carb I needed so there was no point of me staying there. After that he starting screaming over and over again "Fuck you and never come back" as I walked out of the store. He must have said that four times. I can understand if you ran out or that your new and don't know what type of carb I need, but screaming fuck you at every customer that needs a part that takes a bit of thought to get will start to drive away business. read more
