I went to get nipple piercings today and have nothing but good things to say about Dan the piercer. I really thought I would feel uncomfortable with a male piercer but that was not my experience. First off the piercer has amazing energy and you literally will feel so calm about getting your piercing. I felt very comfortable and the piercing itself was near painless. I cannot give this shop a higher rating. I have never been disappointed with anything here. They are exceptionally clean, knowledgeable, and friendly. I have been coming here since I was a teenager to get pierced by Dan and I wouldn't go to anyone else. My most recent tattoos have been done by Pat who is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Coming here is more than just them providing a service. It's an entire experience. Everyone at the shop is social, talks to you, asks how you're doing/what you're up to, the clients talk to each other. It's just a really nice atmosphere. I have gotten multiple tattoos from Pat, who is one of the nicest tattoo artists I have ever met. He does fantastic work and has amazing creative vision. His versatility and use of color is truly outstanding. I have gotten tattoos from multiple artists, but he is by far my favorite one to work with. As a whole, the shop is great. It has a beautiful, old-fashioned layout. I frequently chat with the other artists (Paul and Shawn) and piercer (Dan) in the ship who are also very nice and make the whole experience always fantastic. He's done both of my tattoos and he takes pride in his work. For the picture I posted (line work on the left fully conpleted product after second session on the right) it took about 8 hours to do just the line work and Paul did an amazing job. When I got my nipples pierced, I always intended to change the jewelry sooner rather than later. Two years went by and I still hadn't done it. Finally, I was tired of looking at captive bead rings, and I had a few bucks to spare. The obvious place to go? Shaman's Den! The shop was clean, well-lit, and really busy even on a Thursday at 2 PM. Everyone who was there seemed happy with the work they were having done. I picked out my new jewelry and went to the back with Dan, the piercer. Dan is a member of the Association of Professional Piercers, he's got various certifications to reassure you that he knows what he is doing, and he's just a nice, easygoing guy. While it can be awkward to have a stranger poking at your tits, Daniel put me at ease pretty quickly. He was quiet and efficient, and he laughed a lot as I bantered with the friend who had accompanied me. I was really happy with my experience here, and I will be back any time I need new jewelry. If I end up getting a tattoo, this is going to be the first place I look into. read more

Shamans den is absolutely awesome. Writing this review a long while after j first got my nose piercing, but my experience was so good that I remember it very well. My friend went in to get her conch and I went in to get my nostril done. They had us sign a consent initially and show ID. The guys there took all the time in the world with each case. It was my first facial piercing ever and first piercing in a while but they talked me through everything and kept me from wimping out. Really excellent service! I went in to get my nose pierced. I'm a huge baby when it comes to pain, and the staff did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. The place was super clean and professional. The guy walked me through each step so nothing was a surprise. The feeling wasn't pain so much as pressure. By the time I "felt" it, he was already done! This was a really impulsive (and unlike-me) decision and I couldn't be happier with it. They also had a nice selection of jewelry and a cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place. read more

For many years I have only went to see Shawn, Dan, and Paul for all my tattoo and piercing needs. When you make an appointment with one of these guys, you receive exceptional customer service. And their shop is beautiful and incredibly clean. Yes, you may have to make an appointment and wait a bit, but it is worth the wait. By far the cleanest and most professional shop in the area. Not gonna lie, when I first walked into this place I was terrified. I had never been in a tattoo studio before and was intimidated by the tough-ass look of the place. I went there with a few friends to get piercings done and my friends said this was the best piercing place in the area. It was a great experience! I was taken to a private room in the back that looked like a doctor's office and was shown how each instrument is sterile. I had my nose pierced and it barely hurt. The person doing it (I forgot his name!) was extremely professional and clearly knew what he was doing. I was a little dizzy afterwards, since I get light headed easily, and the piercer gave me an ice pop. This was back in 2010 when I was a student at Binghamton. Sadly I no longer have a nose ring. For a while I was debating piercing it again, but I'm nervous to go to a different place after having such a wonderful experience the first time around. I have actually debated taking the long trip back to Binghamton just for another piercing. read more

I went into Shaman's den looking for a simple, plain sterling silver tongue ring, standard gauge and length. Nothing fancy. Before leaving home for the store, I removed my tongue ring and thoroughly sterilized it with hot water and then rubbed it down in rubbing alcohol, so I could demonstrate what gauge of tongue ring I wanted (because I couldn't remember off the top of my head what gauge it was). When I went in and held out the tongue ring in the palm of my hand, Dan - the piercing guy - looked at me like I'd just spit up a hair ball on his counter. When I asked about their selection, Dan scoffed at me and pointed at the glass case and told me what was there was what they had. There were like five tongue rings. When I pressed the issue, he got an attitude and said that they had so many tongue ring selections that it would be stupid to keep them all in the case. Stupid to display to your customer all of their buying options? I'd call that common sense. How can I decide to buy something I haven't even seen? He refused to bring any out from the back room so I could see. He was terribly rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. I was so uncomfortable that I felt pressured to make a selection impulsively just so I could leave quickly. I ended up buying a $27 tongue ring which, to me, is ridiculous for a simple, standard sterling silver tongue ring. I had considered getting piercings done here but after being treated so rudely, the thought of even standing outside the door makes me feel unwelcome. I honestly think they take advantage of the fact that they're one of the only certified piercing establishments in the area, which makes them feel entitled to treat you like crap. They're only option! Don't like it? Too bad. read more

This is not your "Buy on get one" $15.00 piercing shops that are a dime a dozen nowadays. The pricing reflects the beautiful quality of work you will receive! I've been pierced here 6 times as well as had 4 tattoos done and every experience was awesome! Ex: Dan pierced my sternum almost 9 years ago. 2 months back I had my first child via emergency c-section, before which the doctor made me remove ALL body jewelry. I was confident I could probably get my sternum's surface bar back in afterwards, due to its age. Welp...I was wrong. It wouldn't go back in to save my life! When I was released from the hospital 2 days later I stopped by the local "reputable" shop here in MD where the man there told me to "let it heal for 2 weeks and come back to have it repierced". Uh, no. The next day I made the 5 hour drive back to NY to visit Dan. Within 15 minutes he got the jewelry back in place, thus saving my beloved sternum piercing and making me one happy momma! :) I can't say enough nice things about this establishment and their wonderful staff!!! :) read more
