I redid my dining room and wanted to move from vertical blinds to roman shades. I searched online and several places came up. I usually get about three estimates when looking for services. The Shade store was one. Once I decided what I wanted I sent a request for swatches. The swatches came quick! A few days later Zach checked in on me to see if I needed any help; once communicated that I did, he had Amie contact me via email. From start to finish Amie provided A1 service. Her turnaround time with emails were quick and she provided me with everything I requested. Once I made a preliminary decision on type of shades I wanted, Amie setup the appointment for my measurements. The guy who came out to do the measurements wore his mask and when I requested he put on new shoe covers he obliged. He was pleasant and efficient. He sent Amie my decisions and she contacted me with her suggestions on what she felt would be the best choice so I could enjoy my shades. She then placed my order after review and final updates. She also scheduled my install that day. Day of the install was 24th August and it went smooth! My time was between 8 and 11am. The installer arrived on time with all tools, mask, gloves and fresh new shoe covers!! Woo hoo! The Shade Store stays ready! Once the installer was done he cleaned up his mess and bagged all trash! He even had a handheld vac! Impressive! Amie followed up the next day via email to see how my install went and if I was happy. My response was yes! Overall my experience was great! We have had ongoing problems with this business. We ordered over $35,000 in draperies and shades last May and are still waiting for several items. One fabric was promised for November, arrived in January, and although completed, they could not schedule installation until mid‑April, 3 months after the fabric arrived. The excuse is they need two installers and don't have an open time until mid-April. We had expected it all to be done before the end of 2025. We now have 5 huge boxes they expect us to store for a month with 4 more being delivered tomorrow. For two of the three rooms, they delivered the first set of valences badly bubbled. We were later told the fabric was unsuitable, though this was never disclosed upfront. The company agreed to remake them at no cost, but the replacements--completed weeks ago--were supposed to be run horizontally to avoid seams and instead they came in running vertically with seams. They are now redoing the valences for a third time. And though these are also finished and have been delivered, they do not have installers to install them. I would never recommend this company. It isn't the salespersons' fault but the production team and installation team have repeatedly dropped the ball. We have been waiting over 9 months to have this completed, and much of the delay was their fault. You would think they would make this a priority and just find a way to get it done. They are understaffed and no one seems to care about customer service and fixing problems they caused. We have had ongoing problems with this business. Unreliable. And unaccommodating. Shade Store gave me an arrival time between 1 and 3pm. At 3:01pm I get a text saying they're running 45 minutes late. No apology, no explanation. Rescheduled. New appointment is a week later, between 2:30 and 4:30pm. At 12:48pm I get a phone call: "Installer can't make it." Now that's 2 days they've wasted my time. I said, I need the installer FIRST thing the following Monday morning. The best they would do was 5:30 to 7:30pm. I decided to give my approx $7k in window treatments to another business. I've purchase all of my shades from here and recommended this company to my design clients. No longer! I was told I had a lifetime warranty with one of my cellular shades when I purchased it. A week after it was installed, it started having issues fully opening and closing. 3 years later and after multiple services on the shade, I am still having the same issues with the same shade and the company refuses to come and fix it for free. They want to charge me +$250 for this service, which is more than I originally paid for the shade. I would have gladly paid for some technician fee if I actually broke the shade or didn't have a warranty or if it ever actually worked in the first place. What a waste of money, time, and effort. I have worked with some good reps and designers in this company but the customer service on this order was horrendous. read more

I spent a HUGE amount of money in the apartment's shades, they said the guarantee is for "life", not true at all. Motorize shades are covered for 5 years only, if something happened to the fabric is not covered, if you relocate is not cover. I agreed to pay for the fabric because of the glue came off (yes, they are glue), then they charged me 1.200 dollars because the motor has to be changed because it's from 2019. Horrible experience. We ordered three shades for the front of the house. Two of them were fine; the third one was the wrong size. It took about two weeks to get a new one delivered. This time the measurements were right, but the fabric was different. Then we ordered three more shades for the back of the house. Their installer came today to change the wrong one on the front, and theoretically, he should have been ready to also install the ones in the back. Unfortunately, they screwed all the measurements for the back door. Now we will need to wait a couple more weeks for the new shades, and God knows what will happen this time. We wasted a lot of time, and I am very frustrated. I do not recommend them, and I am very sorry I picked them in the first place. UPDATE: I emailed them yesterday; no reply. Great store, great people, great shades. Prices seemed a bit high at first, but they have sales, and the quality and service are terrific. The sales person Nathalie and the person who came to measure (Andy?), and the installer (Sham) were all very professional, smart, personable, and kind. I now have a beautiful modern shade in my hallway that is more than 8 feet tall and can easily be set daily or on schedule to block out the hot sun in the summer and keep in the cold in the winter. read more

Very pleased with my bright orange roller shades. They look and function very well and brighten up the room. My only wish is that the installer should also deliver the shades, rather than having them delivered separately. Received an email within days of my posting asking to make good on the problem I had with the measuring for drapes. They made an incredibly generous offer that included replacing the drapes and having the new ones installed by their installation team. (Very different solution than the initial expectation I that I take the drape down, send it to them, they hem them and return them to me for my installation). Can't say enough about how determined they were to make me a satisfied customer - and I am. New drapes installed this morning and they are perfect. Installer (Adam) was great! I loved working with her on picking shades to complete the redesign of my 12 year-old daughter's new bedroom. She picked out the most beautiful shades that gave it that WOW factor I was after. My picky daughter loves them and also really liked working with Amie. She has a keen eye for the designs and details that will pull a room together. I didn't realize shades could make such a big difference but when done right they make a tremendous difference. I would never have found these on my own! They looked like much more expensive shades and the installation was easy. Amie set everything up and I just had to send a few emails confirming times and dates. The blinds arrived at my home and a few days later someone came out to install them. He was clean, friendly, and on-time. Amie is a true pleasure to work with. A horrible experience. First of all they said they have done tons of units just like mine in my building. Installation was supposed to be within a day or 2 of receiving the shades. This install date was almost 2 weeks later. The installer didn't allot enough time so only finished the bedrooms. Remember they have done tons of units just like mine so how come they didn't know how long it would take. Then come to find out that there is 4 inch gap in the blackout shades in one of the bedrooms. So, what is the point of having them. After calling to complain the they said they would have the installer come back out in a week to fix and do the rest of the install. Needless to say that there was screw up on 1 of the living room shade measurements necessitating yet further delay for final installation and the bedroom gap was still not fixed. However, the icing on the cake was that they didn't even factor in the shades for the kitchen. They had the measurements but didn't produce the shades. Now they are expecting me to pay for them. Needless to say I can not endorse this company or the people that work for it. Should be called the Shadey Store. read more

Pros: Made in the USA Cons: Terrible customer service, limited options, cheap looking hardware We are looking for shades for six rooms in our historic row house. I was thrilled to see the The Shade Store opened in Philly. I had walked by the one in NYC often but never had time to go in. Unfortunately, at the Philly store, the customer service was horrible. We wanted cordless shades and their were such limited options. Plus, the mounting hardware on all of their shades looked cheap and was highly visible compared to other options I have seen elsewhere. Even the pictures in their catalog look pretty bad when you check out the details of how they are hung. The person who waited on us lacked so much product knowledge she had to traipse across the floor looking up answers online and calling supervisors for every single question we had. She would forget the kind of shade we were looking for and give us misinformation, walk us down a design path and then 15 minutes into planning tell us she was wrong and we could not do it. After an hour of dealing with this woman, she finally told us to just go online at home because she couldn't figure out how to use their website and couldn't answer any more of our questions about the shades we were going to order. My god, why have a brick and mortar store if you are just going to tell people to go online and use your website? I got home, went online, and discovered that we were unable to purchase her suggested cordless roller shades in the size we need. I'm not sure why their are such stringent size limitations but they won't make cordless roller shades under 35" wide. I want cordless for aesthetic reasons, but many people want them for safety with children. These folks need to get with the program. Instead of using The Shade Store, I went with Drapery Design in Paoli. Yes, it is far away, but they can come to your home for consultation and installation. Their shades and drapes are handmade to order and their range of fabrics is much more extensive. Plus, they had no problem working with my measurements. The shades now hanging in my home are more substantial and higher quality than The Shade Store, were a bit less expensive, and the woman who we worked with knew the industry and her products inside and out. The Shade Store gets two stars because they are made in the USA, otherwise, this would be a one-star review. read more

My short review: If you are in the market for shades and blinds, do not hesitate and look no further! My longer review: I am extremely pleased by my experience and I do not hesitate to recommend The Shade Store to anyone. I very seldom write reviews (though I use them quite a bit so I probably should be contributing to Yelp more!) but in this case, I had to take a moment to share my thoughts. Amie, our consultant, is just amazing, fabulous and a joy to work with! It was clear from the get go that we shared many of the same values such as honesty, work ethic and an appreciation of quality products and design. Likewise, the rest of the staff was extremely professional and really good at what they do. I felt I was in great hands, not pressured and had all of my questions answered promptly and accurately. As to the quality of the finished product we ordered for our living room (roller shades), let me just say that I could not be more pleased in every respect. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship and construction of the shades more than justify the price -- in other words, you get what you pay for and then some with this company -- truly a great investment for your home and décor. You will notice the difference immediately in going with the very best! I also recommend the website which is very user friendly, fun to navigate and offers great ideas. Samples are plentiful either in the store or free online so definitely take advantage. I look forward to returning in the next few weeks to complete our bedroom and office. Would not recommend the Shade Store to anyone looking for new shades. In full disclosure, my story is based entirely on their online business. I called up and got a representative on the phone to send me out some samples. She was very friendly and I think understood the look I was going for. She also helped me schedule someone to come out and measure my windows. I told her I had 9 windows. This is where they earned their second star, because she was super pleasant. Fast forward and I got my materials and I liked 2 of the options. Great! The guy comes out and I walk him through my house and show him all 9 windows. I was working from home that day, so I guess shame on me for expecting someone to do their job competently. He walked to the back of my house to what I thought was my half bath to measure that window. I get the measurements via email and guess who didn't measure the one window, but instead, measured my back door that I did not request? Yep.. I called and complained, they were happy to send someone else out in a week, but I can't just work from home whenever I want. I asked kindly what were they going to do to remedy the situation, because I was going to have to take off, which was less money in my pocket because of this. They said absolutely nothing. I hung up because that customer service was horrendous. Plus I thought they were overpriced, but was willing to pay the premium to have professionals do it. I paid quite a bit of money upfront on the 11th of March. Amie, the salesperson said that she would send a person to measure. I very clearly explained to her that I am the one who works from home (not my husband) and to have the installer contact ME, not my husband. A week later, my husband receives a very ambiguous and unprofessional e mail from a 'Donald', who wrote "measure" in the e mail and nothing else. My husband forwarded the message to me and I contacted Donald asking if he was informed that he would be dealing with me. He never replied by e mail and instead called me on the phone to harass and bully me, at which point I told him that he would not be allowed into my house and that the company would have to send someone else. Two weeks later an installer named Ian showed up to measure, who was polite and professional. I asked him how long the wait would be for the shades to be ready, he said 10 days maximum. Fifteen days passed and by then I had booked a flight to my country of origin as my father had passed. I immediately got in touch with Amie, telling her that the shades had never arrived at my house. She then said that they would arrive.....exactly on the day that I was leaving on my 6,000 mile flight. Since I wouldn't be home to receive them, she said that she could have them delivered to the store on Chestnut and that Ian would pick them up before installing. I agreed and told her that I wanted an appointment now for when I return either on the 26th or 27th of April. She said that "The 27th should be fine". I told her to e mail me the confirmation as I would not be making phone calls while away. One week after arriving in Argentina I received a voice mail from Ian, saying to call him back to make an appointment and "I hope you're having a nice vacation in London". I was LIVID. My husband took over and nailed town an April 27th at 9am appointment via Amie, for Ian to do it. April 27th comes, Ian comes to my door.....WITHOUT the shades. Amie never bothered to inform him of the situation. Amie and Donald are incredibly unprofessional and inept. read more
