"If it was an unlivable situation why did you stay". Felt utterly disrespected and unprofessionalism in the office is crazy. Not one person did a walk through before we moved in on a Saturday. I was a perfect tenant; paid rent on time every month and left the apartment in pristine condition when I left (got the full security deposit back). After leaving I asked for a letter of recommendation for the new building I'm applying to live in (out of state). Kathleen was nasty for no reason and refused to give me anything, claiming it was no longer company policy to give letters of recommendation. This would be understandable except for the fact that they literally require letters from other landlords for tenants applying to live in their building. Extremely hypocritical and selfish.

Having a doorman is key. The high ceilings make this building wonderful to live in. I am on the 10th floor and have been in two different apartments. The countertops are tall which works well for taller people. It is a block from the Mineola train station which makes it so simple to go into nyc. Overall I recommend living in this building. I love it. I feel safe.

Avalon continues to be disappointing. Here are some reasons why…read more.. -The pest control does not exist as ant and other pests are epidemic. We have not seen an exterminator for 6 weeks! -The landscaper makes infrequent appearances as well making the grass over grown in the back, which does not help with pest control. -Safety is a concern. I had the local sheriff's department ring my bell recently looking for a resident who had a warrant. -Maintenance takes a long time to fix anything because they are short staffed. -Management is rude and does not give a sh** about the renters. -MTAA railroad track noise is horrendous! -No one follows the rules at the pool making it unbearable to enjoy. (management sent an email but really does nothing about it) -The smell of pot smoking is constant. This is a non smoking community but management does nothing, except send an email. One positive is the location is convenient! Overall, I would highly suggest you look elsewhere. This community is way overpriced!

There was chipped paint on a lot of the doors and the building needed overall paint and clean-up. I feel the price of the apartments should include much better maintenance. Update: They cleaned the laundry room! It's still creepy…read morelooking and run down but it's not dirty anymore. When the snow came, they did a great job shoveling walkways. However, the parking lots are not entirely plowed consistently so expect drifting and icy roads. I've been locked out a few times, and it's been a fast response within 20 minutes max. Also my oven broke and was repaired within 12 hours. I also appreciate the management answering my email within 10 minutes that I sent at 11 at night to tell them my oven broke. We do get 2-3 homeless people daily that dumpster dive in the morning and hang out in the parking lots. Also we've had more power outages than normal for an apartment complex. I mean any decently strong weather, like some good wind, the power goes out. They do fix it but it's disappointing that it's to be expected or unsurprising that at LEAST once/twice every 3 weeks power will go out. Overall, still love living here. Great community. Love my apartment. Just some things they can still work on.
