Composting worms getting acclimated to their new home

I had a great experience with this business. It's a small/family set up. We chatted by text a bit and set up a time for pick up. The owner was super helpful and gave me some tips for starting my compost-worm bin. The whole thing was easy and this is the only place in the area that I could find where I could get worms locally (I wasn't wanting to go the Amazon route).

Nicole is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, I was very pleasantly surprised with how big the worms are.

I know it's getting harder and harder to get good help or even qualified help for that matter. The last couple times I have been in the employees really are not very helpful. When you have a question about a plant, they don't really take the time to explain it or give you alternatives. That again today happened in a large way. I was looking for a particular fruit tree with a certain root stock that would work in my soil. I called and asked if they had the particular type of tree and wasn't on the root stock I was looking for? The guy told me I don't know. I said do you know what route stocks you have. His response was if you want to know what rootstocks we have and what trees are available. You need to come down here and look. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. So I looked up another nursery called and asked the gentleman there. He told me he wasn't sure if they had that root stock for that particular tree, but he would check if I could hold on a minute or two because it was in their other location across the street. He came back in about a minute and a half and told me they did have the tree not only in my root stock, but two others. He then went on to even ask why are you looking for that particular rootstock? I told him and he said OK that's a good rootstock for that but here is a better one that will take care of that issue for you in the long run. I thanked him and drove 28 minutes to their nursery so I can get outstanding service rather than going to Sunshine growers which is 15 minutes from my house. I will not be going to Sunshine growers again. I found a new place that really is focused on the customer.

Our plans had several interesting species of drought-tolerant plants. We wanted to work with a company that was affordable and had extensive experience. After doing a lot of searching and asking many questions to just about every local garden center, Arise stood out among the rest. Not only are they fairly priced, but the owner (Rigo) was easy to get a hold of and made sure he provided us with all the plant species we asked for. He also delivered them to us with a 24 to 48 hour turn-around time which was important because we needed time to get the plant order in the ground before the rainy season. Literally all other local gardening centers in Chino, Montclair, Claremont, etc...were either standard or limited in their selection, or severely overpriced. Arise is a local business worth supporting because they are in touch with what other gardening centers are failing to provide do-it-yourself landscapers: great advice, accessibility, and the best prices.

I have a mild addiction to plants, succulents more specifically (although my husband would probably upgrade my condition to moderate), so I get particular joy from seeing what interesting varieties are available. Whether you're a full-blown horticulturist like my BFF who enthusiastically talked shop with them for a good 20 minutes one cloudy Saturday afternoon, an apprentice level collector like me or a first time novice succulent or air plant buyer who is jumping on the Pinterest home decor bandwagon, they are happy to help you choose the right plant, give plant care advice and even gush over your lovely selection with you. You can tell they are truly passionate about their plants! They offer cacti, succulents and air plants in a variety of sizes and species, with prices starting around $2 and going to from there, depending on the size and rarity of the plant. I've personally purchased everything from a 4-inch "hen-and-chicks" for my ever-growing window collection, to a 1-gallon planter containing a 3-foot tall "Slipper Plant" for my full-sun drought-resistant garden bed. If you're looking for something to brighten your home and unlike the DIY garden centers, you want solid advice from a local, passionate small business owner, then I highly recommend checking them out! Happy Planting!!

After entering this store, my first impression was that it looked like a Marshalls or Ross. It wasn't until I walked deep into it that confirmed my suspicion. It's basically a store full of home goods and some interesting stuff from various brands. The purpose for my visit was to look for some biscuits or crackers. Yes, they have a section with gourmet foods and snacks. I didn't find any biscuits so I didn't buy anything food or snack related. I was so intrigued by this store, I stayed to walk around and see what else they have. A thought came to my mind... I needed a photo frame so I searched for that. I spent a good amount of time looking for the photo frame, but I eventually found one and bought it. Staff was nice. Prices were okay. Ambiance was interesting. Goods were in good variety and quite intriguing to say the least. Please keep in mind they don't necessarily have the same item stored at the same aisle and/or same shelf... they may be all over the place. It's like a scavenger hunt of home goods and stuff LOL. Don't be discouraged. See it as an adventure. If it's meant for you, it'll find you. Now I know what's inside a HomeGoods! I would come back here to see what gems I can find as my curiosity mind wants to know LOL. Happy Shopping!

I couldn't find another one so thought I'd ask to see if they were going to discount the broken item. They initially said no then said they would take off .50 cents!!! What a joke... They aren't even supposed to sell broken items to begin with. Buyer beware make sure to try out and checkout your pieces to make sure they are ok before you purchase as well. They gave another person in line a hard time who was trying to return a broken item claiming they didn't know if the buyer purchased it broken or they broke it so they couldn't return it. I get it but also look around your store, not good.
