Utterly feral…read more........... Had dinner here with my wife, mil and 3 children. We picked it because it was close to where we were staying and because it looked good for kids. We ordered some drinks at the bar, then ordered our meals. There is a play area for kids that two of ours (5 & 7) went into and were having a lot of fun. There was a large group a few tables behind us 30+ adults and kids. They adults sat at the table while their children ran riot throughout the place. To the point where we removed our children from the play area because it was not safe. The children were throwing and kicking balls around. The staff attempted to stop them, but unless the parents also step in, it is difficult for a staff member to stop a child doing anything, but at least they tried. After 45min of waiting for our meal we asked if it would be much longer. Once we confirmed what we ordered the staff member told us the order had put our order on the wrong check and they would need to redo it. We offered us a free drinks to compensate. Given we had already waited and had three hungry and increasingly grumpy kids to feed, we decided to wait. The children belonging to the large tables behind us continued to get more rowdy, spilling out of the playroom into the restaurant, without any intervention from the parents at all. The staff did try their best to avoid standing on them while bringing out food, which was nice. It very much appeared that this type of thing was a normal occurance There was a complete absence of any management at all. The play area was unsafe with the number of kids in there and the activity going on. Our food, when it finally arrived was terrible. I.e. Fish and Chips was a frozen and reheated fish fillet with no chips. Please do not eat here, there are plenty of other great choices in the area, where the food is much better and the clientele far less feral.

@Feb 2017 Pretty scared to eat again here after previous…read morereviews here. it's the only venue an elderly uncle leaves the house for. Mgt has changed last year. this place deserves more .. great location and friendly staff. YMMV. my experience on the handful of times here is that it's clean, food ok although $$ for a pub meal. and staff are courteous .. shame to see it deserted on the times that I do eat there. humongous dining area and 3 tables during lunch??? wooah!! Food is not bad to be honest. @April 2016 Marine is a bit horty torty... where brightonites are in their element. meals were of quality but I wouldn't say any were standouts!! WIR? nope it is waaay overpriced for pub meal!! seniors card holders can get a decent feed here though.

Well, I guess what they say about there being a difference in the cultures on the north and the…read moresouth side of the Yarra, but then again considering that this pub is in Brighton I'm probably not at all surprised that it isn't one of the trendy establishments that you find scattered about the inner north. What I liked about the pub though was that they had a really cool looking dining area, with some pretty impressive booths (though it was a little too early for me to grab something to eat). However other than that it was basically your standard, if a little classy, suburban pub. Mind you, being Brighton I was expecting something a little more flash than what I actually got. As well as the restaurant there is a gaming room, a pool table, a front bar, and a small courtyard for the smokers. Not really some place that I would hurry back to mind you.

The best thing about this pub is it's location - right next door to the Palace Nova. Okay, I'm not…read morereally sure why I would leave the Palace Nova during an intermission to go to the pub considering that the Nova does have a liquor license, and you can take drinks into the cinema, but hey, I do like to get outside for a bit if the opportunity is available. However, as I mentioned, the best thing, and probably the only good thing, about this pub is it's location. Basically it is a pretty stock standard pub (though it has had a refit and does look pretty classy) and it doesn't have all that much to offer on tap either. It does offer the standard pub fare (none of that gastro rubbish for me), but considering the food offerings available on Bay St, it's not a place that I would have at the top of my list to grab a meal.

Pretty much the only true pub-style restaurant on the strip so will usually be quite busy and is…read moreopen late most nights. Not a lot to rave about really where it boasts a fairly normal pub menu where the staff are just OK and the vibe is a little stale and plain. Big menu with the usual fish and chips, pot and parma, burgers etc. I suppose if you're looking to go out one night for a pub meal it's not a bad place to go but just doesn't have a lot to it where you wont be surprised by anything and each to their own, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Purely up to you. For me, though, nothing too special.
