The first time we went here for the buffet we were turned away because they're full. Wait, what? An outer suburban pub was full?! Yup. That was the first indication we had that they're popular. We looked in the sports bar but left immediately.
The second time we thought we were being smart by booking a day ahead. The times they could actually seat us made it obvious we were still cutting it too close. This surprised us because it's a big place.
The third time we booked several days ahead and actually went for our meal. It's a buffet so we didn't expect fine dining and everything was... actually pretty good. There were plenty of the buffet staples such as sticky Oz-Chinese, fried foods, rice, roast, and potato. There were also some things we didn't expect such as very nicely cooked squid, salmon, Indian curries, and several simple but well made salads. I would have liked more cheeses and antipasto but that's a bit wishful for a buffet. The desserts were all pretty good too though a couple of the options, such as the ice cream, were mediocre. Can't blame them for that though because ice cream is mostly there for the kids that insist on seeing how much they can stuff into a bowl before their parents stop them.
The Sports Bar is pretty bleak and as far as I can tell the rest of the building is infested with pokies. Stick to the buffet though and things are fine. They also have some conference rooms which I've only been in once and thought were perfectly acceptable.
All in all the buffet is really pretty good. It's not great food but it's exactly what you want in a place like this. read more
