The Acai U Later was delicious, the Piwer Breakfast bowl ( oatmeal) was hearty and ate only half. The coffee was good not great, really didn't taste the peppermint. I would definitely recommend Baya Bar when visiting the Island of Staten.

I've ordered by phone, through Uber Eats, and now through their own app, and I've received incorrect orders multiple times. With my latest order through their app, I waited over an hour only to receive the wrong sandwich. I'm lactose intolerant, so I couldn't eat what they sent. When I called, there was little sense of urgency or concern. I asked for a replacement or a refund if they couldn't deliver another sandwich. After calling me back, they told me to give the untouched sandwich back to the driver and that they would bring a replacement. The corrected sandwich eventually arrived, but the driver made a point of telling me he wasn't the one who delivered the incorrect order. He also told me he doesn't get paid for these types of deliveries when orders are placed through their app. I explained that my complaint was about what had been packaged and sent out. Their arrangements for paying drivers are something they need to address internally. I shouldn't be made to feel responsible for using their own app or asking them to correct a meal I paid for and couldn't eat. During a previous incorrect order placed through Uber Eats, a driver said the mistake wasn't their fault because I hadn't called the store directly. He also made an offensive remark blaming the mistake on the cooks being Mexican and supposedly unable to read English. That was completely inappropriate. My brother later raised that incident with someone at the storefront whom he understood to be the manager or owner. I've worked in coffee shops that prepare sandwiches, and I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is checking orders before they leave and responding respectfully when something goes wrong. Replacing the sandwich was appreciated, but the defensiveness and blame made the experience unnecessarily frustrating. They need to get it together and put a better process in place. Incorrect orders waste customers' time, but they also waste the business's food and money. Getting orders right the first time benefits everyone. After nearly a decade of supporting this establishment, I'm disappointed that these issues keep happening. I want to support local businesses, but customers need to feel that their orders and concerns matter. These repeated experiences have cost them a longtime customer.

If I had one small gripe (and it's not even worth taking off a star), why are baby carrots in the salads? Why not sliced carrots? Are baby carrots truly impossible to eat with a fork or do I just need to stab them more forcefully?
