The accommodation (a quaintly-decorated, two-story converted grain bin with queen bed loft, sitting room, stocked kitchenette, double-wide hammock, multiple porches, and fire pit) is especially perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary... or romantic getaway. The hostess, Mary Kay, cooks love right into her food -- from the welcome snack to the morning spread -- it's all freshness, thoughtfulness, and deliciousness. We arrived to a cute little sign on the antique oven wishing us a happy anniversary and two ample slices of freshly-baked pumpkin spice cake. Coffee, tea, milk, juice and bottled water were available in the fridge upon arrival. We chose to drive into Danville, IL (about 15 minutes away) for groceries and then cooked steaks (and s'mores!) on the grill at sunset. Everything we needed -- from charcoal to tongs -- was waiting for us. A freshly-baked frittata breakfast was served on our schedule. It was accompanied by cinnamony baked apples and warm banana bread. (Mmm... still dreaming about those apples!) Sure, there are rules: No pets. No kids under 12. Check-in at 3:00 p.m. Check-out at 11:00 a.m. And, you need to understand that you're in the country... on a working farm. You'll hear critters and crickets and the occasional passing train (they stock earplugs in the nightstand in case you're a city slicker). But the value for the price (especially since you're also getting 2 breakfasts, 2 snacks, all the beverages you'll need, campfire kit, and fairly free-range access to the property) is unsurpassed. If you're looking for a place with lightning-speed wifi, or state-of-the-art gyms, or even barely adequate cell service: you're plain outa luck. But if you're searching for a serene little spot to unjangle those nerves, and finish sentences, and breath a little slower... THIS is where they hide that magic!

It is in a quiet neighborhood near the University of Illinois campus. We chose the Dr. Lindley King Suite which is located on the third floor of the building. It is a huge room with antique furnishings, a stained glass window, a high ceiling and a very comfortable king size bed. Our hosts Sylvia and Ernie were very friendly and engaging. Sylvia is originally from Ireland hence the name of the Inn. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast mixed with lively conversation. One of the highlights was Sylvia's homemade muffins. When I mentioned to Sylvia how much I enjoyed the delicious Irish tea she served she gave me a take home gift of tea bags. If you are visiting Urbana and would like stay somewhere different than a typical hotel, consider Sylvia's Irish Inn!

Concrete blocks with names written in marker and smells of a musty basement, but the wine flows and the entertainment is like no other. The wine likely is whatever is on sale at Walmart, but I promise it doesn't matter. The bartender, Trina, will make sure you have one hell of a time. She may sit at the piano and play a little song, tell some jokes, or pose you for photo shoots. I've been a couple times now and it's always a great time! Crawfordsville is only about three hours from us. The website for Cabins and Candlelight was thorough, appealing, and exactly what we were looking for. Rhonda and Chuck ARE Cabins and Candlelight! They do everything you would expect and so much more. The cabin is the perfect combination of rustic (no phone service) and modern (hot tub, fireplace, and Sleep Number bed.) Attention has been paid to every detail! Chuck and Rhonda have thought of EVERYTHING! Breakfast is covered at Cabins and Candlelight no matter how many days you spend there. We chose to venture out to Turkey Run and then to Clements Canoe, but it seemed like the guests in the other cabin never moved their car the entire time we were there. The price for Cabins and Candlelight was very reasonable, the accommodations were extremely clean, and getting my husband to spend some days during this crazy year with only me and mother nature made this one of my favorite anniversaries ever!
