The hotel is within walking distance of parks, art, and a variety of dining options. The room I stayed in was large and spacious. The couch was comfortable, and the footrests were a perfect accent. The workspace separated the sleep and resting area. The closet was deep and long with mirrored sliding doors. The wet bar area was to my left as I entered the room. Mindy was so kind at the front desk, and Conner was chatty and professional as he attended the breakfast area.

She may sit at the piano and play a little song, tell some jokes, or pose you for photo shoots. I've been a couple times now and it's always a great time! The continental breakfast was meh. Only one of the two buffet trays had food in it and the scrambled eggs were very watery. They have plain and cinnamon roll flavored waffle batter, but the cinnamon didn't have much punch to it. The apple juice had little flavor and was almost like drinking water.

So you are right next door to the student union's restaurants and study nooks, plus a bowling alley and arcade. The hotel itself is very nice. It feels elegant and upscale, but still down to earth. When I visited, it was graduation week, and staff were handing out complimentary glasses of sparkling wine. The place was abuzz with parents and alumni. The place was hoppin', but the service was always top notch. I stayed in a room with a king bed, which was luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, with lots of pillows. I also really liked the lighting in the bathroom area -- it's split into two parts, like they sometimes do in hotels. The vanity and sink are separate from the toilet and shower. Rooms have a Nespresso machine! I love that. Thankfully, this hotel has a decent fitness center. It has ellipticals, treadmills and weight machines, and everything is spaced apart nicely. They even have little snacks in bowls -- I grabbed a Kind bar and an apple on my way out. As for parking, you have two options: valet or self park. I opted for self park, and was directed to a parking garage across the street from the hotel. I was in and out a lot, and I always found a parking space easily. It isn't too far of a walk from the garage to the hotel. I had a great time at The Union Hotel, and have wonderful memories of it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The area around the hotel gave off sketchy vibes for sure but no real problems with our hotel. Four stars.
