Reservations were simple to make online. We were greeted with a menu and an excellent wine and cocktail list. With very few other diners, we were treated to the best seat in the house with a view of flowering spring trees through neogothic windows. Another couple was enjoying a glass of wine on the porch, while another was exploring the interior of this fantastic Victorian mansion. Service and ambience were both amazing thoughout -- this is truly a unique dining experience. We had the langoustine cakes and the soup of the day, both great starts bursting with flavor and texture. We had the hangar steak and pork chop for entrees, paired with a well structured Zinfandel. The pork chop was particularly outstanding, owing both to the quality of the ingredient and expert preparation, paired with just-sweet enough parsnip puree, rainbow carrots, blistered grapes, and carmelized onion. The hangar steak was impeccably presented, cooked to temperature, and most important, a very delicious cut of well aged beef. For dessert we had a lemon-lavender mousse bombe, again as well presented as it was delicious. The tart lemon pop rocks on top were tge perfect touch and sheer nostalgic pleasure. We finished our evening with a self tour of the mansion, and carried home half of our amply portioned meals to enjoy as leftovers. Lafayette's best kept secret. The tables are also spread out for social distancing & there are only 5-6 chairs per table. To understand the love Colleen has for her community and the heart and soul she has poured into all of her building renovations is awe inspiring. Town and Country is definitely the crem de la creme of all buildings in Milford. It is simply beautiful. As for the events I was fortunate to be part of, they went off flawlessly. The decor was perfect, the staff was more than accommodating even to the point where the owner met me there at two in the morning so I could start my preparation. I feel blessed to have been a part of events that benefited some very deserving charities within the community. Having such an amazing space to hold such large events in little ole Milford is something very special. If I could give ten stars I would, this is a magical venue run by two beautiful ladies.

For $15, you get a candlelit dinner (catered by Scanoli's Cajun and BBQ Restaurant, across the street) and a classic movie. These days, the movie alone would cost you $10! And that means that the $5-dinner, already very good on the palate, was also quite gentle on the wallet. They also show Monday night football on the big screen. Moreover, for most of these events, the bar is open, which means you can enjoy a drink while you watch the movie. Tell me, where else in the US can you do that! I'm sure such places exist, but they're few and far between. For what it's worth, you can also rent out the space for events such as receptions and weddings. I haven't yet been there for something like that. But if it's handled anywhere near as well as the movie night, I'm already a fan.

It was a clear evening so I was able to enjoy the balcony. This is a good location if you want to enjoy Downtown Lafayette. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. While this hotel was ok I do prefer some of the other nearby hotels. I frequently work in Lafayette and have stayed in IHG and Marriott properties all over Lafayette.

This was evident throughout the hotel during my stay. The lobby is a nice, comfortable place to meet up to relax and chat (except for that odor). The bar is nice as well. I haven't had a mixed drink there, so I can't make recommendations on that. Wine selection is average. The hotel was completely renovated approximately 2 years ago. Decor is new/modern. My room was clean and comfortable. They took out the pool when they did the renovation. There is still a small workout room. Now, why only 2 stars. In addition to the smell of gas throughout, I could not take a shower. Considering the new renovations, the state of the shower in my room was deplorable. And my room isn't the only one like that. We have associates that come in town and stay here. It is hit or miss on the showers depending on the room. Suites appear to have been completed with very nice showers and tubs so they typically try to book a suite. Regular rooms, all I can guess is they ran out of money??? I've posted pics for you. There are two other very nice hotels just across the river if you want to be in the downtown area. You'll pay a little more, but at least you'll be able to shower.

When we got…read morethere, we were informed the restaurant had closed 3 years ago, but the former president of the country club, Al Harker, gave us suggestions of other nearby restaurants. Then, he chatted us up and suggested we try a free 18 holes of golf and think about joining the country club. Mr. Harker is a great pitchman. We took him up on his offer and came the next weekend and played 18 holes. We were sold by the 5th hole. The first few holes are gorgeous, as they are on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Shafer and expensive homes. The last 9 holes are long, across the street and also fun to play. This is the nicest golf course in Monticello, and I imagine in and around this area. The membership for people under 40 is only $450.00. When you play, it's only $8 for 9 holes or $16.00 for 18 holes with a golf cart. When the kids at the clubhouse see your car approach, they bring a golf cart to you. Now that's service. The PGA pro, Jim, runs the golf shop and gives lessons. He's also very, very nice. The bartender, Angel, is friendly and will tell you lots of interesting things going on in and around town. We've had our vacation home for 3.5 years, and sadly, we've found the locals in Monticello to be less than friendly, and our neighbors have got to be the most suspicious, unfriendly folks around, but the members at this country club are very welcoming and wave when they see you. The minus one star is for the fact that the country club has no permanent restaurant. The Riverside Restaurant grills from Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 p.m, and the country clubs offers hot dogs, brats and some fried appetizers. The shop sells soda, candy bars, jerky and potato chips. My biggest gripe though is how gross the bathrooms on the course are. No one has ever cleaned them in years so they are completely unusable, especially for women.

My husband tried to tell him that was our food but he completely ignored my husband and took part of our meal back to the kitchen. If you are looking for a relaxing dinner without any hiccups and not too long of a wait I wouldn't recommend this place. A few places I would recommend, Oak & Barrel, Riverside Restaurant & Lounge and Anglers Restaurant, we have never had an issue.
