I booked a blonde highlight appointment online for $61, but what I got was a nightmare experience. Halfway through the process, the student casually mentioned it was their first time ever working on a human head--something I was never told when I booked or sat down. They were left to do my entire service almost completely on their own. I ended up sitting in the chair for six hours, past closing time, as they rushed to get me out the door. I wasn't given a mirror to check my hair. The parting was completely uneven, and my hair was ripped through with a brush while wet because they didn't know how to handle wet hair properly. When I checked out, the $61 appointment had ballooned to $133 because they claimed I "needed more product" and a toner--charges that were never disclosed online. I later learned the student had used way too much product, which left my hair splotchy. The educator didn't properly check the work or even part my hair to see underneath. I called the next day to complain and asked for someone else to fix it. I was told they don't allow another student to correct mistakes--the same person has to do it--and that the educator would be with me the whole time. Two days later, during the "correction," the educator was present about 75% of the time, not the entire process. In total, I spent 11 hours in the chair for what should have been a simple blonde highlight service. My hair was re-foiled from scratch, leaving it extremely dry and damaged. I had to buy all new hair products just to keep it from breaking off. To make matters worse, during my first visit, water ran down my neck while rinsing, bleaching and ruining my bra. They mailed me a refund check for that weeks later. At checkout after the correction, they only gave me a partial refund, despite the time, discomfort, and serious hair damage. To top it off, they tried to sell me a conditioning treatment--after they were the ones who caused the damage. Bottom line: 0/10 would not recommend. Booking online for $61 sounds cheap, but by the time you leave, you're paying the same as you would with an actual professional--except here, you might end up as someone's first-ever human subject, at the cost of your hair's health. read more

I love their gel pedicures. All of the young women there are very professional and kind.

I saw the owner of the so-called Salon "professional" Academy in Onalaska Wisconsin berate and try to intimidate a client that had been going there for years because one of her '"administrators" overheard a conversation the client had at ANOTHER establishment about a bad experience they had at a salon and ASSUMED she was talking about the academy!!! You know what happens when you ASSUME something, right? Well, it made an ass out of the owner but not the client!! The owner didn't ask her what her version of the story was or anything just told her she needed to go to a Professional salon to have her hair done and told her to leave and not come back!! (Hello, isn't the name of this establishment Salon PROFESSIONAL academy??) The woman stood up and gave her what for and was civil but let her know how wrong she was. I wanted to cheer the client on out loud! I wouldn't go back there if you PAID ME!! I feel so sorry for those poor students that paid many thousands of dollars to attend a school that is such a poor example of what professionalism is. When I attended Cosmetology school almost 50 years ago professionalism was stressed above all else! Obviously this owner skipped that part of the curriculum. I always went to schools for hair cuts, treatments etc. because I. know the students don't get paid and always tipped very well. That is my last time going there! read more

I went to the Salon Professional Academy in Onalaska to get an all over hair color change, and a manicure. My hairstylist was Kayla, and she was absolutely amazing! Very kind and considerate, and I loved the finished product. Kayla and all the other students around her (Maritza and Kimmy especially) were very welcoming and helpful. They made me feel super comfortable and happy while getting my hair done and with my overall experience there. The facilities were bright and clean, and the prices were excellent. I am definitely planning on coming back, and I highly recommend Kayla for both nails and hair (she did an amazing French tip manicure on me, and loves to cut hair). I could not recommend this place, employees and prices more. read more

Should be called Salon Unprofessional!!! Had haircut appointment for my 2 sons. We waited 20 minutes for first haircut with no acknowledgement of the delay. When I went to inquire what would happen to my next son's appointment time, I was told his appointment was canceled. I was sitting in the salon and only found out because I asked. I was offered no alternative. Very unprofessional, poor customer service. Feels like clients are just ignored after check in. read more

There is zero regard for health and safety at this location. In this midst of some of the highest and rising COVID cases in the area, no one is wearing a mask. If you have any concern for your health and/or the health of the community, avoid getting services here. Also, it's difficult to relax when you can feel your technician's breath on you because the school does not require them to simply wear a mask. I have no plans to ever return. read more

My brother is getting married the weekend of labor day (so this weekend) and my mom made an appointment for her and I to get Manis and Pedis the Friday right before the wedding. She booked this appointment in May. The salon called Tuesday, 5 days before the wedding to saying only one of us could come in at the original time so we would need to reschedule. They waited 3 days before the appointment to call and tell us this when it has been scheduled for 3 months! My mom called to talk to them about this but they were very rude. My mom and I just decided we would go in at different times instead of trying to find another place last minute. My mom went in the morning as I had another appointment while I went during the original time. My mom texted me saying she doubled checked and they told her I could do gel polish for manicure. Well when I get I waited 10/15 minutes passed my appointment time before someone got me (yes I understand there can be technology problems) but when I asked about the gel polish I was told it was too late in the day for that and they would not be able to do it. The student that did my nails was awesome and did a great job. However, after this experience I don't think I'll be back for a while. The way they handle everything and spoke to my mom was not professional at all. read more

I went here today, and I was immediately impressed with the environment of the salon. It looked very professional and all of the staff we interacted with were very nice. I got a pedicure and eyebrow wax, but I've not used their hair services yet, so I can't comment on that. One reason I went is because they were about $10 cheaper than other places in town. I paid $35 for a spa pedicure and $8 for the brow wax. Overall, the pedicure was great :) You have to take into account that these are students, and so they are still learning. But the girl who did my pedicure did a good job. The nail polish job wasn't amazing, but it was sufficient and it's just nice to get pampered and not have to do it myself! The brow wax was done very well, and I liked the fact that after each service an instructor came by to "check" the student's work--even though they did wonderfully. read more
