Coming from LA, I last minute decided to visit my boyfriend because he is here to play baseball…read moreagainst the rockhounds. I was worried we wouldn't have any fun date spots but let me tell YOU. This spot was amazing 10/10 will miss this food leaving more than anything. If they catered weddings we'd hire them. We had Alejandro and their manager was soso kind. If you are here as a resident or a visitor this is a MUST. We came back twice in one day like psycho paths. All food was to die for and their staff was phenomenal!! THIS IS A MUST!!

There are not many choices in Midland/Odessa for nice dining especially when looking for a place to…read moretake a customer or work colleagues. I am very happy that I found Saint Blaise as they hit all three of my marks for restaurants that I take customers to. Food: The food was great. I wanted to get the steak and potatoes but it was $50+ which I thought was a bit steep for just steak and potatoes. I opted for the blackened salmon which was cooked perfectly with delicious broccoli and mashed potatoes on the side that were also cooked perfectly. The gnocchi had a perfect consistency with a non-overwhelming sauce so also phenomenally done. The two drinks I got: Same Place and Maple Manhattan were well-made with each component complementing each other well and not overpowering one another. If you like tequila and manhattans I think you will be happy. Service: The servers were very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire visit especially with the waters. Huge kudos! Ambiance: I will say because the inside space is a bit tight and small, having conversation when the restaurant was busy proved a bit difficult but if that is the case they do have seating right outside in the lobby area and having conversations there should not be an issue. I will make sure to be back with customers here!

I have visited Buffalo Nickel a few times while visiting Midland for work and enjoyed my visit…read moreevery time. It has a nice easy-going, small-town Texas feel to it which is hard to describe unless you've lived in a town like this like I have. The inside is typically nice and chill; an ideal environment to grab a cocktail or two and conversate with a date, coworker, group of friends, whatever. Out of all the bars I have been to in Midland, I think Buffalo Nickel has the best selection of whiskey especially. I am not a huge whiskey aficionado but I have heard from ones that this is the place to go. I am more of a tequila and beer guy and they have everything I want. The unique thing about this bar is that the back patio is smoke-friendly. I am guilty of wanting some nicotine after some drinks so this is a great place for me. They also sell cigars if that is your thing. Cheers!

Wonderful rustic, easy going, relaxed bar to grab an amazing cocktail or two. First and foremost,…read moreit is not a cigar bar, it is a bar that sells cigars! They have a nice selection to grab a couple to smoke on the back patio or to take with you for later. Hubby really enjoy the Crazy Alice, said it was one of the best cigars he's ever had! We sat at the bar and our bartender was very sweet and attentive. Explained the cocktails a bit for us and gave suggestions. The Pumpkin Spiced White Russian caught my eye online so I went with that and hubby had an Old Fashioned. Drinks were spot on so when the bartender said they had a great Espresso Martini I said but of course! It was absolutely delicious!! We highly recommend Buffalo Nickel for a small gathering or date night cocktails.

OCHO 80 - Caldo 7 mares

Fanny was our server and she was super attentive and kind. The place is clean, which I like, and…read moreeveryone is friendly. As for the food, we ordered a few plates since it was our first time. The tostada we ordered was hearty for the price and if you like seafood you can't really go wrong. I'd say it lacked a little flavor but over all it was fine. Same for the oysters topped with shrimp ceviche. The tostada itself was stale and it had a strange flavor. The caldo 7 mares was bomb! Zero complaints there. My little one got the chicken strip meal and it was nice they didn't cheap out like most places with the strips. The ribeye chicharrón was super delicious and the guacamole complimented it perfectly. Salsas were good, drinks were good. My main complaint and the reason for the three stars is the restaurant itself was HOT. It's the summer, either turn it way down or get it serviced ASAP and apologize for the inconvenience. Furthermore, the seafood was room temperature. There's zero reason for it to not be cold. It's seafood. (Obviously not the soup.) It definitely took away from it tasting fresh and it was a little bit of a turn off for me that I had to stop eating it. My husband ate the oysters and the tostada and he agrees it was room temp but that man eats anything and everything. I'd suggest they revisit the seasoning on their ceviche and tostadas, turn down the a/c, and keep things in the fridge. Oh and last thing.. you could tell the veggies weren't fresh anymore. The tomato was translucent.

She treated us like we weren't worth her time, yet she was at her JOB of serving people and no one else was in the room. Go figure. Anyway, we ordered food....beware most of it is just frozen crap that gets reheated in the kitchen. Nothing is fresh. Salmon was a triangle shape like you get from Sam's club freezer dept, mixed veggies were also from a freezer and slightly reheated. One of my veggies was actually still frozen on the inside! Mac n cheese was cold. Seriously it had not even been warmed up appropriately. How hard is that? Steaks were okay and probably your best option there but not worth the $27. Bartender did a great job of mixing drinks. Mixed drinks were all perfect. Cooler was "out" so no draft beer at all. Second server also talked down to us like we were trash. We were just about to leave and go somewhere else when we received our third server who was awesome. Kristian was her name and she knows how to serve!! Great attitude, attentive, patient, talkative and friendly. So we stayed a few hours, DJ shows up around 9:00 and he did a great job with music selection. Dance floor is small but not crowded. No smoking in the main part of the bar so this is a nice place to go dancing and not end up smelling like cigarettes all night. I'd recommend this place for drinks and dancing but definitely not for dinner!! Also, ask for Kristian to be your server if possible so you get treated with respect. She gets one whole star on my review, otherwise this would be a one star review!
