Had an amazing time at the Rose Lounge for my friends 40th Birthday. Started off a bit rocky as my friend had a Red Letter Voucher and they kept changing their mind on whether we had to sit in the hotel restaurant whether it covered the Rose Room (as of 2019, you can no longer use the vouchers in the Rose Room). After that was resolved we had a great time, the food and sweets were delicious and just as our booking was coming to an end, a harpist came out and played. Lovely decor and environment, it feels very luxurious. The tea was delicious and they were good at keeping up with refills. If you don't finish your food, they will box it up for you and you can take it to go. I would definitely recommend. It felt like we were a hundred miles from London but it is right in the middle of the action!

It was wonderful. All of it. The location of the hotel, the scattered rose petals, the lady playing the harp and the waitress greeting me with a 'bonjour'. I ordered a pot of rose bud tea which kept getting filled up with hot water, totaling my tea intake to about 10 cups! I think i could skip the sandwich bit of afternoon tea. They just fill me up too much when what I'm really interested in are the mini scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and rose jam! By the time it came to the Parisienne pastries I knew i had reached my cake limit but I felt I had to get my twenty eight pounds worth, so I forced the raspberry macaron and miniature cheesecake down. Delicious nonetheless.. I would definitely return for a special occasion and possibly splash out on the champagne cocktail also as that did look rather splendid!

Afternoon tea from Rose Lounge at Sofitel St James is an unforgettable experience. Atmosphere is extremely classy - From the unique artworks, the hand-crafted dishes, flower arrangements, and the most beautiful Harpsichord performance. Every furniture, sofas, tables, and chairs have the high quality hand-crafted look, and are most comfortable. Waitress are attentive, professional, and very warm and friendly. Dishes look like quality hand-crafted, utensils are all of very high quality, and the napkins are fine-thread, thick and large. I was here twice - first time just for tea, second time I wanted to come back for the afternoon tea set to enjoy the wonderful Harpsichord music. The room is constructed with beautiful wood trims, making the Harpsichord sound very pleasant as audio dynamics is perfect for the Harpsichord performance. Harpsichord performers are very skillful and experienced. Clearly they are professional players. Their teas are of very high quality - deep aromas and excellent tastes. This is the best Earl Grey I tasted in all of my travels. Even though the afternoon tea set is the traditional classics - Cold sandwiches, scones, cakes and macarons. But the sandwiches are made of very high quality toasts and spreads, much better than the other tea places I visited in London. The scones, one plain and one raisin, are served warm and crispy, doesn't taste too oily or overly sweet, these are the best scones I have ever eaten! Jams that comes with the scones are also very delicious, fruity but not too sweet. Every aspect of the food and service shouts 5 stars. This tea room is a superb representation of afternoon tea. I will definitely come back whenever I visit London again.

The main thing I loved about this place was the decor. It is exactly what you would expect from a high afternoon experience. It's cozy, luxurious and of course.. rose. There was a last playing the harp making the ambience even better! The service was really good and the staff was really polite. My only issue was that we were asked if we have any allergies and dislikes. I mentioned I don't want any sea food. When the food came we saw that one of the finger foods was sea food. Which leads me to this food itself. I think the food from quantity was lacking. Which I isn't necessarily bad. But I did expect more savoury snacks. The scones were yummy. At the end you get to pick your own pastries dessert. Some of which were good and others didn't seem that fresh. All in all the snacks were OK but not great. The tea was extra good! I got the white tea and it was delicious! I would recommend this place in general. The ambience is really nice and the price is decent!

Couldn't have asked for a better tea experience. The tea sandwiches were both pretty and delicious. The service was refined yet earnest, even genuinely friendly. I'm so glad I chose this as my first and only British Tea.

The tea and pastries/desserts were really good. The sandwiches were good too, but it was just a lot of food. It was our first time here and we ordered two of these. We didn't know that it was a lot of food. So one of them are enough for two people.

Cute seasonal pastries, but would have preferred to try their regular french pastries.

Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Served quite warm as well. Pretty alright tea finger sandwiches overall; the cucumber sandwich had a nice lemon zing to it though the smoked salmon sandwich and egg sandwich had bread that was a bit on the stale side. Regarding desserts, the raspberry macaron was very tasty and had a great slight chew to it but the red velvet cake was pretty dry. There were more food items at the tea service but I'm just highlighting the most noteworthy ones. :p For tea I had the jasmine lychee. Satisfyingly bold lychee taste! Recommend if you want something bright-fruity with slight tartness. Service was very polite and all-smiles but could've been more attentive. I'd say I would return here mainly for the tea and the scones!

The owner was so kind and apologetic and was generous enough to comp the whole afternoon tea. We were just happy to get a table! Luckily the London weather in December held up surprisingly well and we snagged a table outside. You can't beat this price! For about £25pp, you each get a choice of tea, and 3 tiers: sandwiches, scones, and desserts. The warm cheese sandwich and smoked salmon sandwiches were delish. I absolutely LOVE a scone and it was everything I could hope for and more. (I could eat the whole thing of clotted cream!) The owner truly made our tea feel so special. I def recommend checking this place out compared to the bigger dept stores for a more authentic feel.

There was a choice of tea or proseco or both to go along with the savory and sweet tea sandwiches. It was pricey, 30pounds, but I wanted to splurge a little. Caution, I emailed my request for reservation twice, they never got it. We had to wait until some other party who had a reservation did not show up for 45 minutes after their appointed time. Worth the wait. Make sure you double check your reservation. There were empty tables, but they do not take walk ins as there is only a certain amount of food prepared depending on reservations. The museum was fun to walk around after tea.

This review is specifically for the historic one at Kensington Palace, the beautiful baroque building in the palace gardens. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea here, and it was everything I hoped for and more - a perfect blend of elegance, history, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, our host Denis made us feel incredibly welcome. First and foremost, I have to say he has a great first name - it's the same as mine (Dennis/Denis), which gave us an instant connection and a good laugh! He was exceptionally accommodating, giving us plenty of choice over where to sit and checking in on us multiple times throughout the afternoon with genuine friendliness and care. His attention to detail really elevated the whole experience. Our waiter, Mustafa, was nothing short of amazing. He handled our dietary needs with ease - accommodating gluten-free and vegetarian options without any fuss - and even split the afternoon tea accordingly so we could both enjoy it fully. The food itself was lovely, but the standout for me was the tea selection. I tried several varieties: peppermint, masala chai, vanilla chai, and classic English breakfast. The staff were happy to bring different teas or extra hot water whenever we asked, and don't forget to add sugar and milk for that perfect personal touch - it made all the difference. The setting is stunning, with the historic Orangery building and views of the Kensington Palace gardens creating a truly relaxing and regal atmosphere. Every moment felt unhurried and enjoyable; it was the ideal way to spend a peaceful afternoon. Huge thanks to Denis and Mustafa for their outstanding service - they made what could have been a standard tea into something truly memorable. Highly recommend booking ahead (it's popular!), and if you get the chance, ask for these two legends. We'll definitely be back!

We thought The Orangery would be the ideal spot as it sits right by the Kensington Palace. My group made reservations, which are encouraged. When we arrived there were ample seats both inside and outside. The interior is white, simple, clean, and bright. A bit bleak on the eye. We chose to sit outside to get some sun, people watch, and enjoy being by the gardens. All of the staff took great care of us, checked on my dietary restrictions, came by numerous times, and were kind and courteous. Now for the afternoon tea, we got the Afternoon Tea and the Vegan Afternoon Tea. I am dairy free so the vegan one was for me, but I eat certain meats so we did share and sample each other's. To start, the presentation was fine, nothing spectacular. The portions were plentiful as I could only eat the finger sandwiches and half of one scone, I saved the rest. I only expected more but found all of the sandwiches to be pretty neutral. I wish there were more seasoning, filling, and the bread wasn't as dry as it was. The scone was good with the provided preserves. When I did have the sweets they were all good, the fruit ones being my favorite. For tea, I chose the Organic Darjeeling. It came out to about three cups and was light and delicate. We left full! Kensington Palace is iconic in itself. If you want to pretend you're a royal or are visiting the area, The Orangery is an option. Honestly, I wouldn't come for their tea as I thought it was just okay. I would recommend going somewhere else, but I'm glad to check this off my bucket list!

I was pleasantly surprised that the server created a mini stack for me. The tea was quite flavorful but the scones were a bit lacking. Of the 4 tea places I went to this week, these scones were the driest. Even covering them in jam and cream wasn't enough--I wanted to dunk them in tea. The pate was delicious though, came with lots of toast, as well as fresh sliced cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. I also loved the fresh fruit (strawberries and cherries), and lovely marshmallows.
