This was the cutest little tea shop to have afternoon tea at! We made a reservation which I would recommend since it's a pretty small place. Our waitress was super friendly and helped give great suggestions. All of the bites were delicious but my favorites were the ham and cheese sandwich, the scone, and one of the cheesecakes. I did the caramel cream tea which was so delicious. The price was reasonable for being in London, I would definitely come back here!

Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 My favourite spot for high tea in the world! It was my mom's first time in London so I wanted to surprise her with a high tea and came across some good reviews for this spot so decided to book it. I would highly recommend making a reservation as the place is quite small and was full when we were there! Being a vegetarian, I appreciated that they offered veg choices and all of the savoury and sweet items were delicious! We left there feeling stuffed which I definitely didn't expect. The staff is also extremely nice and went above and beyond

I was able to snag a table here by calling because online didn't accurately reflect availability. It's a very small, cute, cozy and casual afternoon tea spot. Our teas were fragrant and potent and the savory sandwiches and sweet desserts were all delicious. I recommend if you want an entry level no fuss afternoon tea experience. Another highlight were the scones and clotted cream and jam...so fresh!

What a quaint little tea cafe! As many afternoon tea cafes are tailored to women, usually with an over-abundance of pink decorations, this cafe offers excellent afternoon tea experience without favoring one specific gender. Plenty of men have tea with their significant other or families here. My husband and I had a cozy time with delicious little sandwich nibbles, comforting hot tea, and warm service. My favorite items were the croque monsieur sandwich, hot scone with clotted cream, passionfruit moose cake, and of course, the hot tea (I chose the cherry and rose green tea). My husband had the Earl Grey tea with cream and he enjoyed it very much as well. I suggest booking a table as you will be seated indoors, where you can listen to relaxing cafe music while sipping on your hot tea. Walk-ins are seated outdoors, which is not bad on a nice day, but it will be a very different experience.

Tea sandwiches, scones, tea cakes, jasmine & earl grey tea - lots of food for £29 each. Great value

Attention to detail, cuisine, teas, environment all were well appointed and customer service was 5 stars. The sandwiches, tea options and scones were all very delicious. Thank you for a lovely afternoon tea.

If you were looking for the perfect mix of an affordable afternoon tea with classic elements in a more casual and approachable setting this is the spot. The scones, clotted, cream and jam were absolutely delectable as well as the incredible tea selection. Truly, every element of this was amazing, including the service and the friendly staff. I highly recommend making a reservation well in advance because it is very popular.

Loved it! Booked online and had a little wait to get seated. This place is popular! Walk ins had to wait a lot longer! It's a smaller shop too so highly recommend making a reservation. Service was great, all the treats and teas were so good! The value is overall the best we had at several places in London! There is a small wash room and you can purchase tea.

Been to about 3 tea rooms in London and this one was worth the review. We decided to just pop up (big mistake) it was a fairly tiny establishment so they were booked for the ENTIRE DAY ! Luckily the weather was on our side so we were able to dine outside and I'm so happy we did . Marcus was such a doll! Friendly, attentive. The sandwiches and scones were delicious. The teapots were adorable and I loved the lady grey and cream teas so much I bought some to take away. cant wait to come back !

First, get a reservation. I wanted to experience tea in London but the price points are frankly, unreasonable. Decided to do cream tea as I don't like tea sandwiches much. A very small but cozy spot, I was welcomed with very helpful staff. The selection is vast, and the servings generous. Scones were excellent. I appreciate Candella for being accessible by being reasonable with their prices

My first afternoon tea experience and it was such a great one. Loved how quant and charming this place was and easy to get to. We got seated in the corner spot which was perfect and cozy, and for three people- we got the Traditional Afternoon Tea Service, an extra pot of tea for one, and the Cream Tea for Me. All the food and tea was delicious- not overly sweet and flavorful. I also loved the assortment of teapots and cups- it added to the experience! Make sure to make reservations.

Possibly the quaintest tea service in all of London. There are only five or six tables inside, ensuring everyone has a cozy experience with classic music cheerfully playing in the background. The staff was by and large the friendliest I've met in London so far, regularly checking on us and ensuring that we were having a good experience. The tea service was simply splendid. I wanted to bottle up the smell of the vanilla rooibos and take it home with me, it was filled with a sweetness and warmth that brought me so much peace. The food was delightful. We particularly enjoyed the croque monsiuer sandwiches and scones being warm (we haven't had a tea service with warm and cold components before), and the rotating tray of baked goods was divine. My partner said the the scone was the best they ever had, as was the mini banoffee cake on our tea service. Also the value was unreal. Most afternoon tea services that I have seen are 50-80 pounds, this one was only 25 per person. It in no way feels like corners were cut or that this experience was cheapened in any way, but I was floored we received the top tier experience that we did for the price that we did. Truly unheard of for central London. I would absolutely recommend Candella Tea Room to anyone in the area (make sure to snag a reservation if you want one of the coveted inside tables), and we'll be sure to return on a future trip to London.

We had an amazing tea experience here. Small, cozy and cute atmosphere. So many tea choices! Cream earl geey was sooooo good. All the sandwiches, scones, desserts were wonderful as well. Staff was very friendly and gave tourist tips on where to go.

We came for afternoon tea as part of the British experience and this was literally a highlight of my trip! We opted for an afternoon tea that was midrange and based on some recommendations, we landed here! Four of the five participated in the afternoon tea service. Seating is pretty intimate so I'd recommend a reservation. There's maybe about four tables indoors and a few outdoors. As far as food goes, the mini sandwiches and biscuits were great! The desserts were a little mediocre, but by that time I was already stuffed. They had other food on the menu which also seemed delicious but we didn't partake. I'd say the food portion was plenty. I opted for the apricot and peach tea which I ended up buying to take home. Such a lovely place!

This review is specifically for the historic one at Kensington Palace, the beautiful baroque building in the palace gardens. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea here, and it was everything I hoped for and more - a perfect blend of elegance, history, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, our host Denis made us feel incredibly welcome. First and foremost, I have to say he has a great first name - it's the same as mine (Dennis/Denis), which gave us an instant connection and a good laugh! He was exceptionally accommodating, giving us plenty of choice over where to sit and checking in on us multiple times throughout the afternoon with genuine friendliness and care. His attention to detail really elevated the whole experience. Our waiter, Mustafa, was nothing short of amazing. He handled our dietary needs with ease - accommodating gluten-free and vegetarian options without any fuss - and even split the afternoon tea accordingly so we could both enjoy it fully. The food itself was lovely, but the standout for me was the tea selection. I tried several varieties: peppermint, masala chai, vanilla chai, and classic English breakfast. The staff were happy to bring different teas or extra hot water whenever we asked, and don't forget to add sugar and milk for that perfect personal touch - it made all the difference. The setting is stunning, with the historic Orangery building and views of the Kensington Palace gardens creating a truly relaxing and regal atmosphere. Every moment felt unhurried and enjoyable; it was the ideal way to spend a peaceful afternoon. Huge thanks to Denis and Mustafa for their outstanding service - they made what could have been a standard tea into something truly memorable. Highly recommend booking ahead (it's popular!), and if you get the chance, ask for these two legends. We'll definitely be back!

We thought The Orangery would be the ideal spot as it sits right by the Kensington Palace. My group made reservations, which are encouraged. When we arrived there were ample seats both inside and outside. The interior is white, simple, clean, and bright. A bit bleak on the eye. We chose to sit outside to get some sun, people watch, and enjoy being by the gardens. All of the staff took great care of us, checked on my dietary restrictions, came by numerous times, and were kind and courteous. Now for the afternoon tea, we got the Afternoon Tea and the Vegan Afternoon Tea. I am dairy free so the vegan one was for me, but I eat certain meats so we did share and sample each other's. To start, the presentation was fine, nothing spectacular. The portions were plentiful as I could only eat the finger sandwiches and half of one scone, I saved the rest. I only expected more but found all of the sandwiches to be pretty neutral. I wish there were more seasoning, filling, and the bread wasn't as dry as it was. The scone was good with the provided preserves. When I did have the sweets they were all good, the fruit ones being my favorite. For tea, I chose the Organic Darjeeling. It came out to about three cups and was light and delicate. We left full! Kensington Palace is iconic in itself. If you want to pretend you're a royal or are visiting the area, The Orangery is an option. Honestly, I wouldn't come for their tea as I thought it was just okay. I would recommend going somewhere else, but I'm glad to check this off my bucket list!

All she wanted for her birthday was a nice afternoon tea. We left London and were basically driving sort of toward the coast just stopping wherever we found a tea shop. Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! Amazing people that went out of their way twice to make us happy. They will forever be apart of our story and hopefully we have the chance to return soon! Thank you!!!

I personally think the location adds to the relaxation of the experience, as you're not watching people run up and down on the high street or dealing with the crowds that come with that kind of location. Pei who runs this lovely tea house(open on Saturdays & Sundays 12-6pm) is incredibly friendly and helpful. The decor is gorgeous, with elegantly worn furnishings and gongfu tea ceremony accoutrements at every table. The music is also low and very soothing and adds to the ambiance without being distracting. There is a excellent selection of teas from Japanese and Chinese greens to both black and green pu erh, and a really fantastic selection of oolongs. He also offers a list of tisanes that can be added to the tea for extra flavouring, such as rose, osmanthus, or longan fruit. I sampled two oolongs, the honey orchid phoenix and the lishan. Both were very smooth with lovely mouth feel. As a side note, each table has a little card explaining the steps in gongfu tea preparation, and I think that is such a nice way to introduce people to a different style of tea prep. I was also being a little slow today and I was holding the yixing pot in a way which limited the flow of tea, and Pei saw me struggling, and corrected the mistake and showed me how to do it, without making me feel stupid or embarrassed. That, I appreciate so much! The food on offer is going to change weekly as he tries out new things, but our glutinous rice parcels and vegetarian dumplings were brilliant, savoury and filling, and our clementine almond cake was moist and fluffy and delicious. My friend I both had a pot of tea, 2 savoury plates and one sweet item, and our bill came to 11.50 each. Which I think is an amazing price considering how delicious and well made everything was. Individual pots of tea run between £3.50-4.50, and individual sweet and savoury items are around £2-3. My suggestion is to use the website form to make a reservation, as the space is on the small side, and you know you want the best service and experience possible. So book in advance and be so incredibly happy you did. also, I was so inspired by my experience today I came home and busted out my own gong fu set that has sat unused on my mantle since it came home with me from Hong Kong. It's now been dusted off and I am currently enjoying a lovely cup of genmaicha.

From the website, you're not really sure what kind of experience you're getting into, but when you sit down, you realize that Pei (the tea "sommelier") knows exactly what he's talking about and about the teas that he has on his menu. First thing, you decide on which "set" of food and drink you really want... I definitely recommend just going with the full Wabi Set, which is only £13, and comes with 2 savory foods, and all the sweets available. Then you select the type of tea you're looking to have during the experience. He has a full range of Green, Red, Black and Herbal teas. I went with the Pu'er tea, and was distinctly instructed on how best to brew it. Pei is from my hometown and loves to cater to your needs. It's like walking into a Prix Fixe tea place, where you don't get a choice of food, but it doesn't really matter. We started with some soba with a great asian paste, cucumbers and shoots. That and the combination of the "lo mai fan" - glutinous rice in pandan leaves is just about as delicious as I remember from home. The fact that you're in his home really makes it a great time especially if you come with friends, since he treats you just like one from the first time you walk in the door, until the second you disappear from the living room. You then move to the sweets, and I confess, I love macaroons and a good scone with clotted cream, but man, his home made macaroons make La Duree taste like they're bought from a Tesco. AMAZING. Will I go back? I will definitely come back, maybe even next week. DELICIOUS! Try now, because you ain't gonna have anything else like this in London.
