The building is pretty run down, has potential to be a decent venue for parties just not with the management that is never wrong. The manager or lady running the building currently gets mad at the customer for things that are wrong with the building. If you are only renting the place and not using any of their extra services they get butt hurt and sit in the corner of your party and watch everything going on, will walk through and watch at door openings like they are part of the party. The bathrooms are too small, you can't open the doors to the bathroom without moving the person washing their hands at the first sink, doors do not lock to stalls. The place overall needs better management, the place is a decent size but without opening that back extra party room they have you can't fit more than 200 safely. If they tell you otherwise they are lying. Find a better, less stressful place for a venue/party these people won't last long here. Only in it for the $$ read more

I was so happy to hear The Rose Garden was under new management, what a difference! I recently ate at the new restaurant space in the rear and the caribbean style food was delicious. I ordered the fried chicken platter with rice, plantains and a side salad with a side of sauce and haitian pikliz. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. It's a great space for a private party or grabbing some dinner. Bonus: They have beautiful private grounds behind the parking lot that is beautiful for an outdoor event! read more

I am going to give an overall overview on the Good and Bad regarding this venue. The GOOD: 1. The venue itself is a nice facility with plenty of parking in the rear. As far as hosting an event, you do not have to worry about parking or ticketing or safety of your guests vehicles. 2. Quality tables and chairs are provided specifically chiavari chairs which are the most elegant for an upscale event or function. 3. China, flatware, glassware and toasting flutes are very nice. 4. Venue has two ballrooms that are sound proof and each have their own entranceway. 5. Rooms come with A/V equipment though the smaller room's A/V projector was broken so I was unable to use it for my function. 6. The venue allows you to bring in your own food and beverages (non-alcoholic) with no restrictions. My party planner called over 30 venues before settling on this because they allowed us to bring in our own catering and beverages (non-alcoholic) with no stipulations. 7. If you are looking to host an event in which the venue provides elegant tables, chairs, china/flatware/glassware/toasting flutes and linens and napkins then, this place was the most reasonable to accomodate that request in the Mercer County Area. The BAD: 1. Package deals offered for those who wish to bring in their own food seem like a great idea at first until you realize that they want to haggle and nickle and dime you for everything. 2. They seem to have a huge liability issue when it comes to safety and alcohol. I say this because the banquet manager seemed extremely concerned about my guests bringing in bottles into their facility and us wanting to serve a specialty drink with some alcohol for my party. It would have been better that this concern be explained versus the constant reminder and concern about alcohol being brought into the facility. I believe that they do not have a liquor license which makes more sense to me now why they wanted me to pay a $350 bartender fee to serve alcohol that I would have to purchase and provide as well. 3. They offer two packages for you if you want to bring your own food and beverages. The first package does not give you soda, cover the cake cutting fee, or provide coffee and tea service. The second package offers all of that. What was failed to mention was that if you decide not to choose the second package they will not allow you to have someone in your party (in my case it was my friend who made the specialty cake) cut the cake in the kitchen becase of safety issues (liability again). After some conversation, the banquet manager allowed my friend and my party planner access to the kitchen to cut the cake with her monitoring her every move but intially we were told that no one but staff was allowed in the kitchen. If I had known the cake cutting would have been such an issue, I would have opted to pay for the second option and allow them to cut the cake instead. 4. Banquet Manager seemed to be very concerned with costs to heat the room we were utilizing so much so that my mom was told to leave the door closed and to unload all items which included food on the floor outside. Most venues that I've worked with before allow you time to unload and don't hassle you about heating costs or doors being opened while transporting items in from your vehicle with no stipulations. read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The manager was extremely helpful...until we paid for the venue and the staff was really rude. When we first booked with The Rose Garden, we were told we could visit any time to make sure everything would be set up the way we envisioned. After we paid for the venue, when we asked the manager to visit, it seemed as though we were bothering him and taking up too much of his time. My husband and I were originally really excited because they told us we could use an outside vendor for our food. We got a great deal with a restaurant near us. The food was fantastic, but the servers at the venue took full plates of food off the table if someone even walked away for a second. Also, no one was able to go up for seconds because the servers cleared the buffet and brought it back to the kitchen right after the last guest had gone up. Yet, somehow even though nobody had gotten seconds, most of our food had run out and we had barely any food to take home. Coincidentally, our appetizers had run out earlier too before the wedding party even made our way into the venue. They served coffee with appetizers and when my guests asked for coffee during dessert, they were told they couldn't have any because they had already given it to them earlier (we had paid for unlimited). The manager had promised to help my sister set up for her maid of honor speech. She had prepared a video that she had wanted to play and gave him the exact time she wanted to do it. When it came time for the speech, he had disappeared and was no where to be found. The DJ had to help her set up. When we asked the manager where he had gone, he said he had gone no where and he had been there the entire time which clearly wasn't the case. The manager had also promised to move a fence background and we wound up having to move it ourselves the day of the wedding. We were supposed to have the venue until 10:00pm, but the manager told my DJ to stop playing around 9:30 and started kicking everyone out. Overall, the venue is a complete disaster. The manager was rude, the staff was ignorant and we didn't even get the venue for the entire time we paid for it. If you're looking to cry on your wedding day, definitely go here. If not, I would suggest a different venue. read more

I'm only giving one star in order to be able to post this review. Don't do business with The Rose Garden. On August 2020 we had an event and the banquet manager at the time did not come through with what was agreed upon on the contract. She did not respond to calls (most of the time the voicemail was full and I couldn't leave a message either) or emails in a timely manner. Our event was done in their parking lot (unkempt and dirty) and they only provided two small tents for 60 people (def not in compliance with the Governor's social distance order). No toilet paper or paper towels were provided, no cups at the bar for drinks and they ran out of ice half way through the event. NOT EVEN A ONE IS GOOD ENOUGH :( My wife and I paid in full for our reception before the pandemic and once the pandemic hit we could not have or reception because of the social distancing ordinance in the State. We tried numerous times to contact the manager to discus our refund however we have yet to speak to anyone we received one email stating we would get a full refund in 60 days and we haven't heard anything else. When we call the phone goes to a voicemail which is full and we cant leave any messages. I email them everyday (and will continue) but no answer. In first meeting management was very hospitable and then with money in hand its seems like they ran for the hills. I have not only discussed but very hurt by the lack of communication. This is a black owned business which I am very supportive of however right now I am not very supportive. Black marriages matter too. I went to a friend's wedding over the weekend and the food, service,and hospitality were exceptional. I highly recommend this venue; it is beautiful and has ample parking space. The letter I wrote to the owner: Dear Nyla, I felt that your attempts to micro-manage came off very rude and at times insulting. For beginners, you wanted to charge me to use a projector and slide that you did not know how to work. How is this possible? And then you accused Miyopa of lying about not charging us in your initial consultation with her. I felt that you made every attempt you could think of to charge me more money. Was it because I was a doctor and you thought I had money to just throw away? (I pray that is not the case). I understand business but I also understand Karma and when you behave and treat people unfairly good things will not come your way! Secondly, I paid 35.99 per person per plate and you had they audacity to serve my guest chicken leg quarters. How much profit did you make from that and was it worth it? That was wrong Nyla no matter how you try and paint it. You continuously made up rule after rule as we went along. I understand shutting down the bar when dinner is being served but by this time I was fed up with you and your nonsense. If it were not for me and my friends making my mothers' party as beautiful as it was I would have been livid. You then wanted to charge me for feeding the DJ and photographer. How petty can you get? Lastly, there were no servers left to cut the cake. What happened there? The professionalism I expected was lacking in every aspect of business. I truly wish you the best. I must say that I am a huge fan of The Rose Garden. I recently planned a wedding at this venue and not only was the facilities well kept and in good order, but, the staff was very professional and extremely accommodating. The Rose Garden Marketing Manager TC Cuthbertson is AWESOME! He listened to my clients requirements and was able to offer a package that met and in some cases exceeded their expectations. He was always available to jump on a conference call or meet to discuss new developments. I was extremely impressed with the level of service offered. I've had few events held at Rose Garden before so I decided to have my wedding reception there. We met with the banquet manager/owner Chee and from the get go I got the impression that they weren't familiar with basic things that I was asking for but he was quite inviting and accommodated us to what we wanted. Day of the wedding, all went in to setup and we were greeted by another gentleman named T.C. This guy was absolutely so unprofessional, lazy and rude. First of....he had headphones in his ears the whole entire time. Who does that!? Then we asked him to remove the fence like background 5 times and we ended up moving it ourselves. We were told that table numbers will be provided for us but I didn't see any table numbers on the day of, T.C said that "they didn't come with the package". WHAT!!? What kind of bs is that? They put 4 coffee cups on each table that were setup for 8 and 10s. They didn't have enough according to them. Let's move on to the service. Terrible! Everything was slow and late. Someone had to ask one of the waitress to take care of the Bride and groom. Only came once to ask for drinks and food. Thats all! The grooms sister had to keep going in the back to ask about the food and desserts needing to be replenished. We were told that we can have the hall till midnight or so but again T.C announces at 1130 that everyone needs to evacuate the building cuz the event is over and then charged us extra for nothing. 80 Birthday party held at venue. Was very pleased with the staff and the food! Received very positive feedback from the guests re: same. Used the smaller of the rooms for under 60 guests and the room was perfect! Management worked closely with us during planning and was more than accommodating.
