We were able to make a reservation through their instagram and parked right in front of the Tennessee Ave beer hall. I love a speakeasy & having to enter a different business to get to it was fun. They share the bar 32 restroom & all the seating is on the outdoor patio. Most of the tables are uncovered, but the bar and upper deck areas are covered. Since it's outdoors, it was a bit dusty but I'd definitely come back to try more inventive small plates & cocktails! They also offer brunch & a happy hour. For food: Deviled eggs: The addition of smoked paprika, chili crisp, & trout roe make this version so unique & non-traditional! It's rich in flavor with a little bit of heat & a burst of salt from the roe. Korean bbq fried chicken tails: These were some of the best fried chicken tenders I've had. They weren't the fatty, rich pieces that I've had in Japanese yakitori, but they were meaty with a perfectly crisp exterior since we opted for these to be dry (sauce on the side based on the chef's preference). The Korean bbq sauce was sweet and a little spicy, and it was served with fried basil & house pickles. Japanese eggplant: This was my first time having Japanese eggplant this way, and I loved it! They were charred with miso and topped with pine nuts so it added a sweet and crunchy element to the veggie that I enjoyed. Just don't eat the stem like I attempted to lol. Gochujang carbonara: I liked the idea of a fusion Italian and Korean dish, but unfortunately this was our least favorite item. We didn't finish eating it or care to take home. The first few bites were interesting and very flavorful with the gochujang pepper sauce mixed with all the pecorino, Parmesan, and egg yolk, but it got to be too heavy and soupy. The udon noodles were overcooked and it was overly sauced. Drinks: The Irish mule was one of the best mules I've had lately! The lemon and walnut bitters really amplified the flavor & is definitely my kind of summer cocktail! The Allagash blueberry ale is one we've had during our last trip to bar harbor, so it was so nice to see it offered!
